Chapter 17

Scarlett's eyes flung open after her alarm rang for a good two minutes. She turned it off and then sat up, releasing a long sigh. She entered the bathroom to wash her face and then came back out to check her schedule for the day. It was a Friday, and she only had Professor Williams' class for the day.

Scarlett had decided to heed her uncle's instructions to start attending meetings, so she went ahead and called Rachel, her mother's secretary, to ask when the company's meeting was held.

“Hello, Rachel?” She spoke into the phone, stretching her arms and legs.

“Good morning, ma'am.” The subtle voice of the young lady responded.

“Um, I wanted to find out when the company's meeting would be held today.” Scarlett went straight to the point; she didn't see any reason for further exchanges of pleasantries.

"Today, ma'am, by 10 a.m.,” Rachel answered. Scarlett looked at her clock, and it was almost half past six. She thought she could make it, so she told Rachel that she would be present at t
