Chapter 33

The harsh rays of the sun hit Scarlett's eyelids, forcing her to squint. She turned over, hugging her pillow and enjoying her sleep when the sudden realization of what day it was made her spring up from the bed.

It was the day of her fundraising and she hadn't even rehearsed her speech. She had no idea how she was going to get ready in such a short space of time. She ran into the bathroom to freshen up and then came back into the room and opened her laptop.

Scarlett started to go over her speech several times until she became familiar with it. As she was rehearsing, her phone rang and she picked it up only to discover that it was Ethan. She answered the call and placed the phone on her ear.

“Hey.” She sighed.

“Hi Scarlett, how are you?” He asked.

“I'm very well. What about you? You seemed pretty drunk last night and you bailed on me.” She pointed out and he winced.
