CHAPTER 2

Mikaya's POV

PAK….

A strong slap landed on my cheek when I entered the house. Dad's angry face greeted me. Maybe my Mom told him what happened to me.

"What have you done Mikaya?"

He shouted angrily while staring at me. I expected this to happen because I committed a big sin.

"Daddy I'm sorry I didn't mean it. It's just one mistake and I didn't know it would happen."

"You are a disgrace to the family. You know what, pack your things and leave this house. I don't want to see you. From now on, I don't see you as a child, because I don't have a disgraced child."

Then he turned his back on me and went upstairs. I was left crying. That was so painful to hear. This is the first time that my Dad got really mad at me. I know I was wrong but I didn't know that we would get to this point, that my own family would throw me out.

I know Dad, that when he says something he stands by it. I wasted no time and immediately went upstairs. When I entered my room, I immediately looked for my suitcase and arranged the things I was going to bring. I took all the cash money that I have, including my savings. I also left my atm card because I'm sure he will cut it too. I know him well because that happened once. Before I finally left my room, I left a short note with my atm card on top of my study table where it was easy to see.

Then I went out carrying two big suitcases. When I got out of the gate of our house, I immediately booked a taxi and went straight to a hotel. During the trip I was still crying. After arriving at the hotel, I immediately checked in for two days. I can't stay here for a long time because I have to go away, there is no reason for me to stay in our place.

When I entered my room, I immediately arranged my things. Since it's only one week and we're on vacation, I decided to go to the university the next day to settle everything I need to settle before I leave.

While resting, I received a call from my best friend, Bea Anne. When I told him what happened, she immediately took me to the hotel where I was staying. I said that there was no need but she still insisted. She said that she needed to make sure I was safe and sound.

"Are you okay? How are you now? You want to stay at home first. I can ask my parents if you want. I'm sure they will agree."

She said to me worriedly.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me. I can handle it."

I smiled at her.

"It's my fault. If I had gone at that time, this wouldn't have happened. Who is the man you had a one night stand with?"

"No, it's not your fault. Don't blame yourself because it's my fault. It's my fault because I got drunk and I let that man happen to us. I can't remember his name because I was drunk. But if I see him, I slightly remember his face."

"How are you going to raise the child, I mean how is your pregnancy? We are graduating next school year, how are you going to study."

"I'll stop for a year, Bea Anne."

"What?"

She asked me in surprise.

"I have no choice. I had to stop. I can't study while pregnant, right?"

"Does Justine already know this?"

She worriedly asked me.

"What? Why didn't you tell him?"

"He doesn't need to know. I don't want Justine to feel bad to me any more, he is free from the sin I committed. I have also broken up with him. It hurts but I have to do it for his own good. He doesn’t need to know. So please Bea Anne, I'm begging you don't tell him. I don't want him to know."

"Okay."

The next day.

"Fresh milk for my pregnant bestie."

She said with a smile when I left the room holding a glass of milk.

"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you that you don't have to come to see me here. You're really busy."

"What are you doing? It's okay. Today is the weekend, I don't have anything to do at home and I made an appointment with Dra. Mendez. You need to get checked for the baby. Don't worry, I'll take care of it. We need to make sure that the baby is safe, okay?"

"Okay, thank you Bea ha. Let me when I find a job I will pay you right away."

"You don’t need to worry about that, okay? What else and I became your friend?"

I am really happy and this woman became my friend. In addition to being loving, she is also kind and caring. She never judges my decisions, instead she's always there to support me. That's why I love this friend of mine so much.

She also prepared our breakfast. Pure fruits and vegetables. She even said that it is healthy for the baby. She noticed that I hadn't touched my food yet.

"Eat that. I researched what healthy foods are good for pregnant women. Eat that."

She ordered me while pointing the breakfast she prepared for me.

"Yes. Here we go and eat."

Then she laughs at me while eating. She’s really teasing me.

After we ate, I immediately showered, and she reminded me not to use cold water. It should only be lukewarm water. He really has a lot of perfection. It looks like she really researched the dos and don'ts while pregnant.

"Are you sure that Dra. Mendez won't report us. You know my Dad will only get more angry with me if my pregnancy goes public."

"Don't worry because I'm sure she won't recognize you. She doesn't like watching tv and using the internet. I already know the common things about her."

"Okay."

I answered her sparingly.

Arriving at the clinic of Dra. Mendez suddenly made me nervous. What if my situation goes public? I'm sure my family will be affected. But luckily, Bea Anne was right. It's not a modern clinic like I had in mind but they are complete with facilities and equipment. Their staff can be seen to be attentive. There were also a few people inside. When one of their staff saw us, we were taken care of immediately. They run some tests for me, including the ultrasound where you can see the baby how small it is inside and also hear its heartbeat. She said I'm 4 weeks pregnant so I can't see the baby on the monitor yet but I can hear its heartbeat. I am happy to know that the child is doing well even though I was stressed for 3 days because of what was happening to me. It's good that he has a strong grip, that's what the doctor said.

Dra. Mendez is a kind person, she also talks well. She reminds me of a lot of things, like avoiding some stress, sleeping well and eating right on time. She also prescribed me vitamins to make my pregnancy go well. After saying thank you, we left immediately and before returning to the hotel, we first went to the pharmacy. Bea Anne has bought all the vitamins I need. Even though I said I was the one to buy it, she still insisted.

When we got back to the hotel she took me to my room. After a while she said goodbye. She had to go home because his parents might have noticed that she was not at home.
