LOGINMargot's POV
“ Hello.” Nicole's sleepy voice indicated that my friend was finally done partying. “ Where are you?” I snapped at her as the rage rose in my chest. My tone was harsh, filled with disappointment. “ At home. Where else could I be at this time? What is your problem?” Nicole asked angrily. “ What is my problem? You left me alone!” My voice raised, and I had to remind myself I was in the taxi. This night out was Nicole's idea. She was the one nagging me to join her. This type of entertainment is not my cup of tea. “ I did not. You left with some guy.” Nicole yawned loudly. “ We had a deal. We will go out together and be back together.” I reminded her of our agreement. That was my only condition before I agreed to this idea. “ I am not your babysitter,” Nicole replied coldly. “ You are a grown-up woman. I don't have to hold your hand all the time.” Those words took me aback. Nicole was usually friendly and bubbly, not distant like this. I may have pushed it too far. “ Something bad could happen,” I said, much calmer. It was not fair to take my frustration out on my friend. She had every right to be angry with me. “ Did something happen?” Nicole asked with a sudden interest. “ Tell me everything.” “ Nothing happened,” I lied smoothly. There was no way I would mention this night to anyone else except Sam. I felt bad; there were no secrets between Nicole and I- until now. But, now, the situation was too serious. “ So, where were you all this time?” Nicole asked quickly. “ I was walking outside, trying to sober up. Then, I looked for you.” This was another lie, but Nicole deserved it. Anger built back in my chest. I would have never done anything like that to her. We were friends for years, and I thought we could count on each other. Apparently, I was wrong. “ So nothing happened. Stop overreacting. I will call you in the morning.” Nicole hung up, and I threw my phone into my purse, gritting my teeth. So, this is how far our friendship goes. Sometimes, I wondered how we became friends. Nicole was the only one of Sam's friends who did not look down at me. The rest did not even try to accept me because of my background. I had no wealthy parents who paid for my education. I worked hard for all I had. Something that made me proud looked like a bad joke in their eyes. Only Sam seemed to see more in me. He was the one always to support me. No wonder I fell for him so quickly. Sam… I closed my eyes and rested my forehead against the taxi window. Twenty minutes later, I reached my apartment. When the door closed behind me, I felt much better. I took a deep breath, pushing the memory of the last night away. Memory. ‘ Why could I not remember anything?’ I sat on the sofa, thinking deeply about last night. That seemed unnatural, as I had never experienced anything like this. Besides, I could swear I did not drink that much that night. That makes no sense. There had to be more behind that. ‘ You drugged me?’ The question I asked Nathan popped into my head. He denied it, but I doubted he was honest. Why would he? It is not like her ever being honest in his life. I sat straight on the sofa. He lied! I was sure of that. How else would I end up alone with him in some crappy hotel? He used me to harm the man I loved. To break him. I had to tell Sam before Nathan did it. He would see through his actions and stand by my side as always. I glanced at the clock. It was almost 6 AM. Sam would be in his office at 9 AM. I could visit him at lunchtime and tell him about everything. With that thought, I took a shower to wash off the dirt from last night. After that, I decided to get some sleep. My dreams were filled with icy blue eyes staring at me and a burst of cold laughter mocking my despair. I woke up with a muffled scream. It was almost time. I dressed myself and fixed my hair. My chest tightened from fear, but I mustered to keep moving. My car was parked in front of my apartment, but I decided to call a taxi. Who knew what drugs Nathan gave me? It could be too risky to drive myself. In the taxi, I tried to think about how to tell Sam about the last night. Nothing seemed good enough. ‘ You did nothing wrong. You are the victim here,’ I scolded myself when the thought of cheating crossed my mind again. I would never do that. Sam and I have been happy for the last five years. He is the man of my life, and I have no desire to change that. I took a deep breath before entering my company building. Here goes nothing. “ Good morning, Miss Roberts. We were not expecting you here today,” Rebecca greeted me at the front desk. She was right. It was my day off. I should be cleaning my apartment in my comfy sweatpants and preparing dinner for my fiancee. This was our tradition. “ I came to see Sam,” I mumbled quietly and rushed to my boyfriend's office. Hale & Roberts Tech was our baby. We built this company right after graduation. I worked on new projects while Sam was busy finding new markets and customers—a perfect deal. He was always good with people, while I preferred to stay behind. He had this charisma that I was always lacking. “ Hello Martha, is Sam there?” I asked his assistant. She was a young girl who had worked for us for over a year. Martha started as an apprentice, but now she helps Sam when he is overloaded with work. “ Yes, Miss Roberts, but I think he is busy now,” she replied, standing up quickly. I glanced at the girl, as she seemed nervous. That was something new. “ Is there a meeting inside?” I asked, surprised. We were usually holding meetings together. “ No, but Mr Hale told me not to disturb him unless it is important,” Marta said, fidgeting. Of course, she was trying to follow her boss's orders. “ Well, it is important. Sam wouldn't mind, don't worry,” I replied and grabbed the door knob. “ I said not …” Sam stopped talking when his eyes landed on me, but I looked at the woman before him. Vikki Reed. What the hell was she doing here? And why were they standing so close to each other? “ Is it the wrong time to visit?” I asked, furrowing my brows. For some strange reason, I felt unwelcome here. “ Of course not. Please come in,” Vikki made an inviting gesture and flashed me her pearly white smile. My blood boiled. The audacity!Nathan's POV" I would never expect this day to come," Reed looked at me with his lips curled in something that looked like a poor attempt at a smile. He leaned back in the chair I had offered him, watching me with curiosity. " Me neither, " I replied, skipping any polite notes in my tone. I do really hate this guy. For years, he tried to convince me to work with him, or for him, as I imagined, and did not take it lightly when I turned away each of his offers. He thought I would jump onto the opportunity he gave me, but I would rather bite off my hand before doing this. It gave me absolute pleasure to watch the empire I built, suppressing his own. Reed reminded Sam at too many levels, and I learned my lesson. " So, what do you have to offer?" Reed asked, leaning forward and resting his chin on his fist. I blinked my eyes, surprised by his audacity. Offer? What I was going to tell him was a lot of things, but none of them was an offer. " I have heard you found yourself a potent
Nathan's POVAfter an hour of calming down, Margot finally fell asleep. I have covered her with sheets and left a room to gather my thoughts. Anger was still boiling inside me as I poured myself a glass of whiskey. I had to remain calm if I wanted to help her. I could not let my emotions lead me, even if what I wanted right now was to tear Sam to shreds for the way he had made Margot feel. She acted tough, but his words cut deep. I am a man of my word, so I threw myself into action." Do you have an idea what time it is?" Lucy asked in her sleepy voice. " I am aware of how late it is," I replied, taking another sip of my drink. " Clearly not aware enough if you disturb me. If you wake up, Cassie, I am going to tear you a new one." I knew Lucy was not kidding. If there were someone she would go violent for, it was her wife. " Too late." Fu*k, I heard Cassie's voice. " You are screwed," Lucy hissed, making me tense. "You'd better tell me this call is about the end of the world, be
Nathan's POV My breath became heavier as I ran my eyes over Margot's body. She was like a piece of art, with her silky smooth skin and those curves that drove me crazy. I placed her on my piano, and it never looked better. Margot closed her eyes as I licked on her nip*les, her back arched. My di*k hardened so much it became almost painful. My slips slipped lower on Margot's body. I wished I could have more time to kiss and suck on every inch of it. I could never have enough of it. My tongue ran around Margot's belly button, and she let out a moan, reading my intentions. I could already feel the fabric of her panties. I took a deep breath, calming myself. I wanted this moment to last much longer, but I was unsure how long I could hold on. Margot's body was like a drug to me. She was like a drug to me. I kissed her thighs, making Margot tense. She was shivering slightly, her body giving up to pleasure. But the true pleasure was just about to start. My eyes kept darting to
Margot's POV' This is madness.' Those words were spinning inside my head. We were supposed to be working together. Nathan was my partner, and we should not mix this with sex. This was crazy, and it could not end well for any of us. " Ready?" Nathan's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He stretched his hand towards me, and a small smile curled his lips. ' Stop this, Margot, until it is not too late.'But against all that was happening in my head, I took his hand with a slight nod. His touch was gentle and warm. His thumb was moving slowly over my skin. ' I could get used to this.'This thought scared me. There was nothing I should get used to. Between us, there should only be business, with no extra benefits or fun activities. I was getting myself into so much trouble. My mind was messing with me, pushing me from one edge to another, since I was the one to offer a 'private' celebration. What was I thinking? We both knew how this all would end. " Why so quiet? I like your sharp t
Nathan's POV I could not believe Margot agreed to my offer without a fight. Of course, she had her conditions, but they were entirely acceptable and understandable. I would act exactly the same in her situation. ' Now, it is time to celebrate,' I thought, fixing my tie and making faces in the mirror. This was the beginning of an auspicious partnership. Maybe, just maybe, Margot will see me for who I am, forgetting about what Sam told her over the years. I glanced at my reflection for the last time- it was good enough. Our reservation at the restaurant was in an hour, so it was about time to go and pick up Margot. My body shivered with excitement as I rushed to my car. This was going to be a good night. When I parked near Margot’s apartment, I fished out my phone and sent her a message. ' Waiting downstairs. No rush:).' Twenty minutes later, Margot left the building and found me standing next to my car. " Nice ride," she whistled, coming closer, as I held the doo
Third-party POV " God damn it," I yelled, forcefully hitting my desk and making Nicole flinch in fear. " Are you sure about that?" " Positive," she replied, still shaking. " She is going to sell her projects to whoever pays the most." I plopped onto my chair, unable to stay still. This was impossible. I would not expect Margot to do it. She seemed attached to her work, almost treating those projects like her children. There were times when I teased her about that mercilessly. And now, she was willing to get rid of them like that. " Did she say when?" I looked at Nicole, who took a step back, frightened by my cold stare. "Nnno," Nicole mumbled, avoiding my eyes. " Look at me. There is something you are not telling me. Whatever it is, I am not going to be mad at you," I promised, but Nicole was still hesitating. " Speak up!" I raised my voice as my patience was wearing thin. " She seemed desperate," Nicole blurted out. " I think she is going to do it soon." Th
