CHAPTER 4: THE COLD BOSS

Aurora’s POV

I couldn’t help but glance at Timothy who doesn't even give me a look. The gentle look on his face now became the look of a very strict boss.

“So, I guess I have to leave the two of you here.  Please excuse me, Sir.”

Timothy just nodded at Hannah.

I badly wanted to go with Hannah already, but I still have things to discuss with Timothy regarding the company project. God, this is so embarrassing!

He cleared his throat. “So, I didn’t know that you’re actually a PR leader.”

And how would you know? We just had a one night stand. I even thought I wouldn’t see you anymore.

“Y-Yeah. I just got promoted yesterday.”

He nodded his head. Seeing him this close again makes me remember every single detail that happened between me and him last night. I could even still feel my private part sore. Although it also feels like he's not that gentle man who offered to take home last night. He seem a bit cold and aloof now.

“A-About what happened that night--

"It only happened because we were both drunk. I hope that wouldn't intervene with our business." he said as he glanced at me. That was the first time our eyes met again.

I slowly nodded my head. "I-I understand, S-Sir."

***

I heaved a sigh of relief when I left Timothy’s office.

Wow. Did he just ask me to shut up and forget about everything that happened last night?

I mean, I do not intend to remind him about what happened just to interrupt our business. I just actually wanted to apologize but he immediately cut me off. I didn't know he is that cold. I guess I had a completely different impression of him.

From now on, he will be my boss. I have to work with him for a month or even more.

Damn it. Why am I so unlucky?

“So, how’s your meeting with our new boss?” Rebecca asked me with a smile on her face. “Isn’t he handsome? He is so hot, right?!”

“W-Well, he looks…fine.” I said as I sat down on my swivel chair.

“What do you mean he looks fine?! Oh well, you already have a boyfriend so that’s why you don’t find other men attractive . You know what? If I was on your place, I would probably faint in front of him!”

I just shook my head when my phone started ringing. I immediately stood up again and went to the comfort room to answer the call.

“Mom. What--

“Send me three hundred dollars.”

“What? Wait, didn’t I just send you $500 yesterday?”

“Well, I need some money again. Come on, just send it to my account. I really need it.”

“Mom, do you know that I work hard for that money you only use for gambling? I don’t just speak and produce them.”

“You’re back in that drama again. Will you give me money or not?!”

I balled my hands into fists as I heaved a deep sigh. “This would be the last time this month, okay?”

“Just fucking send it you ungrateful woman!” she yelled then ended the call.

There she goes again.. In the end, I have no choice but to obey her.

My parents got separated when I was just fifteen. My father decided to ask my mom to leave the house after she spent all of his money to gambling. We even lost our house because we had to pay for all of her debts.

But even though she did that to us, that won't erase the fact that she is still my mother. That's why I still talk to her, even though she only remembers to contact me when she needs money for gambling. My dad on the other hand, still lives in the house where we lived in when I was just kid. I had to rent out an apartment because our house is too far from the company. I have told him so many times to stop working, but he doesn't want to.

"I told you, I can still work. You don't have to worry about me. I'll only get sick if I stop moving."

I heaved a deep sigh. "Well, I guess I can't really stop you. Here. Buy yourself some new clothes."

"You don't have to give me so much money. I don't need new clothes, too. Take that."

"Dad."

"Aurora, don't worry about me. Take care of yourself."

"I am taking care of myself. You should take care of yourself, too. Don't overwork."

Dad smiled at me. "Here goes my best daughter again. When are you getting married, huh? When will that boyfriend Philip of yours will propose?"

"Dad. That would still be far from now. I don't want to get married yet."

"And why not? Don't you want to give me grandchildren? Where is that man, huh? I'll be the one to tell him to marry you already."

I just shook my head and smiled at him. I was stopping myself from bursting into tears.

"Dad..."

"Huh?"

I moved closer to him and hugged him tightly.

"What is this? Did something happen? Is there a problem?" he kept on asking.

I could feel the tears brimming my eyes. I stopped him from moving away so he wouldn't see my tears.

"Oh, sweet girl. You are still like a small kid, you know."

"Of course, I am still your little Aurora."

"Right. My little Aurora. I know growing up isn't easy and there will be people who will want to bring you down when you're at the peak of your success, but always remember that you are my daughter and you are so much better than what they think you are. Just act according to what you think is right. I will always be here for you. Do you understand me?"

I nodded my head. "Thank you, dad... You are the best father I could ever have..."
