Vera's POV

They walked into the building holding hands.

Sarah was looking all happy. Her fingers were locked with Liam's, and for a second, I couldn't look away.

Then they stopped walking.

A male student came up to Liam and pulled him into a conversation. Sarah stood beside him, smiling and adding small comments here and there.

Until her eyes found mine.

A slow smile spread across her face. The kind of smile that made my stomach twist.

She let her gaze slide over me, then lifted her hand and touched Liam's jaw, slow and easy, like she had every right to.

My blood ran cold. I didn't feel angry or betrayed instead I felt unsure.

Liam ended things between us. Then he went straight back to Sarah? He prefers going back to his failed relationship than giving us a try?

The thought sat heavy in my chest as I stayed rooted on the spot where I stood.

Around me, students were already talking.

"They are really back together. They can't resist each other.”

“Team they separated forever are going to loose their money.”

People around laughed and I couldn't help but wonder what she meant.

“I don't think it is official yet. They haven't confirmed it.” One girl said.

I watched them until they disappeared into the building and most students also entered into the building.

I stood outside for a while trying to stomach what I’d seen. The picture of Sarah's hand on his face played over and over in my mind like a broken record.

DING!

The school bell rang and I stood still without moving.

"Hey, move to your class."

I turned, it was probably a teacher that stood looking at me to get moving.

"Sorry," I said, and started walking.

The hallway was almost empty now. My feet were supposed to take me to class. Instead, they took me toward the principal's office.

I stopped at the door and knocked.

"Come in."

I pushed the door open. Principal Cole stood near her bookshelf, searching through a row of books. She wore a bright red skirt that made her look elegant as always.

"Good morning, Principal."

She turned and smiled. "Good morning, Vera. Have a seat."

I sat down. While she kept searching the shelf, my eyes wandered around the office. It was neat as the first time I had come in.

"What brings you to my office?" she asked.

I sat up straighter. "I want to choose my electives, and I need your help."

She walked over and sat across from me, setting a book down softly on the desk. "Okay," she said, folding her hands. "What would you like to choose?"

"I really don't know."

She nodded slowly. "Well, that depends on what you enjoy. We have robotics, coding, basic literature, painting class, choir, and dance." She tilted her head. "Which one calls to you the most?"

I thought about it, but honestly, I didn't know. Right now, I just wanted something to keep my mind busy. Something that would leave me too tired to think about anything else.

"Dance," I said.

Her smile widened. "You'll need to pick two electives."

She handed me a paper. I looked through the schedule. Dance. Choir. Basic literature, those classes started this week. The rest would begin the week after.

My eyes stopped on Painting.

I wasn't good at it, not even close. Maybe that was exactly why I should pick it.

"Painting class," I said.

Principal Cole nodded. "So dance and painting?"

This time, I didn't hesitate. "Yes."

She opened her laptop and typed for a few seconds.

"Great choice," she said. "You'll switch between them depending on the schedule. This week, you'll have dance."

"Thank you, ma."

"You're welcome."

I stood and walked toward the door. Just as I reached it, her voice stopped me.

"Oh, Vera."

I turned. "Yes?"

"I was actually planning to give you your ID card and pass card today."

"Oh." A small laugh slipped out of me. "I came looking for you before you could find me."

She chuckled. "Exactly."

A few seconds later, I left her office with both cards in my hand. For the first time that day, my chest felt a little lighter.

***

The last class before lunch was Physics. Normally, I would have enjoyed it. The teacher explained things clearly, and the lesson itself wasn't hard… but my mind kept slipping away from the lesson.

No matter how hard I tried, my thoughts wouldn't stay on formulas and numbers. They kept drifting back to Liam. Back to his voice, the way he looked at me sometimes, and then his body.

I couldn't stop playing his cock that I had in my mouth and the way he had fucked my mouth to find his pleasure. Then my mind drifted to his hands on my body, his fingers between my legs, his mouth that went down on me… but I haven't gotten the climax I wanted. Always got interrupted by people when I am almost reaching my high.

I knew I should stop thinking about him. I knew it clearly… but knowing something and actually doing it were two very different things.

My pen paused above my notebook. I stared at the board without really seeing it.

Why was it so hard to let him go? Why couldn't I stay away from him even though I know he is my Stepbrother?

I had no answer to my questions. All I know is I want him.

My grip tightened around my pen.

"I can't stay away from Liam Hayworth."

The words slipped out quietly, barely louder than a whisper.

Before I could think about it any further, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I took the phone out to check. It was a message from Anita.

My eyes went wide. Oh no. She had already sent several messages.

I opened the chat quickly. The newest one sat right on top.

[Bestie!! You haven't given me an update about your new school. If you don't message me today, I'm going to call you even though I hate calls.]

A laugh escaped me. Trust Anita to threaten me with the one thing she hated doing herself.

I typed back right away.

[Sorry, Ani. Want the gist now?]

The typing dots appeared almost instantly.

[The heck, Vera. It's been days. This gist better be premium.]

I smiled, the first real smile all day. Then I lowered my screen brightness not wanting anymore to peep and read my chat and started typing.

[The first day I came to school was really eventful. I have a stepbrother girl. And the day he drove me to school, that was the topic in the whole school.]

[He is popular! I am loving this gist. Continue.]

[So… I got to my classroom and guess who I saw when I was introducing myself?]

[Your stepbrother?]

[Nope.]

[Then who?]

[Andrea.]

The typing dots disappeared. Then it appeared again. Then disappeared once more. I could almost picture the look on Anita's face right then.

DING!

The lunch bell rang. Students immediately started packing up their things. The Physics teacher dismissed the class and walked out.

I slipped my phone into my pocket and stood up. Just as I reached the door, someone tapped my shoulder.

I turned around.

A girl stood behind me, a bright smile stretched across her face.

"Hey.”

Vera's POV"Peter?"The name slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it.For a second, I just stared at him, trying to match his familiar smile with the little boy I used to know. His lips slowly stretched into a wide grin. "You remember me.""Of course I do." A small laugh escaped my lips. "It's been a really long time.""It really has." His eyes stayed on me for another second before he leaned his arm against the driver's door, his smile still easy and warm. "So... where are you headed, looking this pretty?""Umm... just a party a few buildings away."His smile widened. "You mean the one at the Gilberts' mansion?""Yeah." I nodded."That's exactly where I'm going." He tapped on the steering wheel as his eyes stayed on me. "Hop in."I hesitated, my fingers tightening around the strap of my purse. "I don't want to impose.""You're not imposing." He chuckled softly. "I offered."A smile slowly grew on my face. "Well... since you asked."I walked around the car and opened the passe

Vera's POVI looked at him with side eyes, waiting for his answer.“We agreed that we are going to keep us living under the same roof a secret, which means we wouldn't want anyone to see us in a car together.”"It doesn't mean you can't give me a ride to the party." I crossed my arms and leaned against the counter, holding his gaze. "They'll all be too busy to even notice I came with you."He scoffed and shook his head, not even bothering to look up from the pan. "Too busy, you say. We go to school every day and we don't even arrive at the same time. You know why.""You just have to take me to this party, Liam." I pushed off the counter and took a step closer, close enough that he had to notice me. "My mum and your dad aren't even home. There's no one to take me to the party."Then he turned to face me, with an unreadable expression. "Don't go.""What?" I blinked at him, caught off guard. "I am going to this party.""Argh." He groaned and turned back to pour the egg batter into the pa

He just looked at me, and the silence went on for a few seconds while his eyes stayed on mine, like he was trying to decide if helping me was worth the trouble."Help me get the bag, please." I shifted my weight to my other leg and twisted my fingers together. "You can get into the school, right?"He let out a slow breath and shook his head. "I can't just walk into the school, Vera."I frowned. "But... your dad owns the school.""It doesn't matter."Before I could say anything else, his phone buzzed. He looked down at the screen, read the message for a second, and locked it again."I'll get it this evening," he said. "I have practice later."Relief washed over me right away. "Okay." I nodded quickly. "Thank you."Without waiting any longer, I turned toward my room. Just as I reached the door, his voice stopped me."How

Liam's POV My eyes, that had been resting on her boobs, snapped up to her face. I cleared my throat and fought the urge to blink first. "Cut the crap. I entered your room because I knocked repeatedly and you didn't answer the door." A scoff crossed her face as her eyes moved from me to look at the door of her room. She moved from where she stood and walked slowly to where her uniform laid on the floor. She bent down slowly, too slow to be an accident. Her legs parted wider than they needed to, and I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. Her pussy was on full display, glistening, right there for me to see. My dick jumped hard against my jeans. I gripped the doorframe beside me, my knuckles turning white. "You're doing that on purpose." My voice came out rougher than I meant it to. She stood up with her uniform in her hand, then glanced up at me through her lashes, a small satisfied smile playing on her lips as her eyes fell to look at the bulge on my jeans. She didn't answ

Liam had football practice." "Ohh, I didn't know you play football." She turned to look at him properly."I do." He said it simply, just those two words."You both should go change." She turned back to me, her hand brushing gently over my sleeve. "Your uniform is stained, Vera. Go shower before you catch a cold.""I'm going to my room, Mum."I turned and walked up the stairs slowly, careful to keep my weight off my injured knee so she wouldn't notice the small limp in my step. Behind me, I heard Liam's footsteps following. He reached his door first. I watched him from the corner of my eye as he turned the handle and pushed it open.
