Corey's POV

I sat down on the couch to ponder on what Kai had said. His proposal was based on logic and he had more to lose than me. If he took me in and the child turned out to be for my ex, he'd have spent a lot of money taking care of the both of us.

My concern was what would happen if the child wasn't his. If I was to live under his care, it meant joblessness and dependency on him. I hated to be in both states but there was no feasible option yet.

I needed to take a walk and have a breath of fresh air, then I remembered that I still had some cleaning to do.

I couldn't let anyone find out how unkempt my house was again so I began to clean. It was stressful cleaning the rugs and furniture but determination was one thing that was never missing in my life.
