Mistress braver than Wife

“Before we got married, I already loved someone else. I will never develop any feelings for you no matter what you do. Sign that divorce paper and I will compensate you accordingly!”

Gertrude didn’t know if she would laugh or cry. Compensate her?

Seriously?

They both knew that she was heiress of the Jimenez Group of companies. It was not only the largest company but it was also on the verge of becoming a global business empire. So what could he give her as compensation?

She had everything that she needed. No, she was wrong.

Gertrude’s heart tightened when she realized that she almost had everything in the world that every woman would dream of. She was treated as a princess by her family. She could get everything she wanted in just a snap of a finger.

Just except for the man that she loved.

Dane…

He was the only thing that she couldn’t get.

Anger spiked inside her heart as she recalled all the things that she had endured for their marriage. She had been so patient despite the cold treatment that she had been receiving from him since the very beginning.

“Seriously? What do you think you can offer me?” Gertrude said in a sarcastic voice. It was as if she was trying to remind him who she was.

She probably acted like a naive and innocent woman in front of him as his wife but she was far from being like that. She was the only heiress of their family.

Gertrude couldn’t help but to hold her head high as she met his eyes which were burning with anger as well.

It looked like he didn’t expect her to act like that.

Seeing that Dane went into silence, Agatha spoke angrily.

“Are you really that desperate, Gertrude? I can’t believe that you will really force yourself to Dane. Don’t anyone like you? Don’t you have any suitors?” She asked one after another. Then, her mouth twitched. “Probably because of your attitude.”

“Stay out of this. I am not talking to you,” Gertrude said as she sharply looked at the mistress of her husband. “It’s really true that nowadays, it is the mistress who is braver than the original wife,” she exclaimed.

She saw how Agatha’s eyes squinted.

The woman was about to open her mouth but Dane quickly stopped Agatha. He didn’t say a word but both of them left.

Getrude was left alone in the garden. She could hear their footsteps fading away. She felt her heart beating so fast as if it wanted to go out of her chest. She felt her whole body shaking. She never thought that she would be able to handle that kind of conversation.

She clenched her fist as she looked at the envelope on top of the table.

“I will not give what you want no matter what you do. I will not let you and Agatha be happy,” she muttered to herself.

“Why did we leave?” Agatha asked Dane. He could feel the anger in her voice.

He could understand her because he never thought that having a conversation with Gertrude would be that difficult.

That woman used to follow every word that he would say. Well, what should he expect? He was asking a divorce and he knew that the woman had trapped her in that marriage so naturally she would not really give in.

“I don’t want to waste more time talking to that woman, Agatha. There’s no sense of having that conversation with her,” he said in a firm voice. He felt the anger inside his chest rise up as he recalled how arrogant the woman was when she asked him what he could offer to her.

He rolled his fist as they walked to his car.

“What are we going to do? This just means that I cannot marry you, Dane,” Agatha said in a worried voice.

Dane opened the door of the car and let Agatha in. He turned around to the driver seat.

“Don’t think too much. I will make her give up on her own,” he said. “Just trust me.”

“Okay, if you say so,” Agatha said and then she wrapped her arms to him.

Dane focused his eyes on the road. He hated the day that his father manipulated his life.

“I can’t believe that Uncle Darren will put you in this kind of situation,” Agatha said as if she could understand what was running inside his mind. “Even if Jimenez Group is a big company, it is still unreasonable for him to meddle in your personal life.”

She made her point but he knew that Agatha couldn’t understand the reason why he always followed his father.

Agatha came from a wealthy family. She was also born with a silver spoon in her mouth like Gertrude. They didn’t know the feeling of having nothing and crawling up to the ladder.

“Enough,” he said in a firm tone. “I can understand him and there’s no need to blame him for this. I know that he just wanted our company to be secured.”

“Whatever,” Agatha answered and rolled her eyes.

“Honey, I hope you understand. My father is the only one left to me.”

“I know. But I just can’t really believe that time has been already stolen from us because of that Getrude. I don’t know why she can’t just sign those papers.”

Dane just kept quiet. He didn’t want to think about Getrude anymore. That woman since they met made his life very difficult for him.

Was she really that desperate? Didn’t she have anyone in her life to love? Why was she acting as if they were a real couple?

“Don’t think about her. I will make her give up. I am telling you that sooner or later, she will give in. She will be the one who will be calling me and asking me to go to the courthouse.”
