CHAPTER 7

CRYSTAL

My heart skipped as I heard the loud crash in the bathroom. My senses awakened immediately as my heart beat with fear. I quickly scanned the room,my eyes darting around looking for something to protect myself with.

I tiptoed to where the table stand was and grabbed a lamp to defend myself in case of any attack. It wasn't as if I had the strength to fight off any possible attack but it wouldn't be bad if I gave it a try— To scare the intruder,at least. Wait a minute. Could it be the stalker?

No way. There is no way he would get in here.

With caution I tiptoed towards the bathroom,my mind racing with worst case scenarios. ‘Could someone truly be in here?’ I thought,my anxiety spiking.

As I entered the bathroom,my fingers held the lampstand firmly as I scanned the room for any sign of an intruder but it was empty. It was just the broken shampoo bottle and the content that was shattered and spilled all over the bathroom.

I let my back rest on the wall as I heaved a sigh of relief —It wasn't what I thought.

‘I guess I didn't place the shampoo on the right place because I was hurrying to meet Ella,’ I assumed.

Frustration kicked in as my mind went to the issue of plagiarization again. I exhaled a deep heavy breath as I bent down to pick up the broken glasses,my thoughts wandered. Distracted by my thoughts,

“Ahh!”

A shout escaped my mouth as a fragment of the glass pierced my finger. I winced in pain and saw blood trickling from my hand. I quickly got up and went to the sink to wash off the blood.

I quickly dispose of the broken glass. My heart and mind was in turmoil as I won't stop thinking of how the reputation I tried to build is now dented. I had ignored Ella's warning and ordered a wine when going up to my hotel room. The wine arrived and I began to drown myself with its content as the memory of the comments online taunted my flexible heart.

I downed the last content of the bottle,at this stage,I was intoxicated and it was starting to feel like the ground beneath me was shaking, eventually losing consciousness.

STALKER POV

I could feel my legs cramping from staying in a particular position for a long time. I know I wasn't supposed to be here but my curiosity and eagerness to be by her side, comforting her, assuring her that even if the world is against her. I would never leave her. She is mine.

My mind hasn't been at rest since I saw the lie that was spreading on social media about her work. I know a good artist when I see one, especially the one I have been following and stalking for a long time.

I wondered how she was handling the situation and my inquisitiveness wouldn't let me rest and I decided to do what I had tried holding myself back from doing.

I had resisted the urge of sneaking into her hotel room severally because it wasn't part of the plan plus I respect her privacy and wouldn't want to breach that.

You might be wondering,how?

I always have my way around,it was an easy one to get the blueprint of her keys.

I had sneaked into her room when she went to meet Ella. Her scent enveloped me as I entered the spacious room and my eyes roamed the road taking in the things that occupied the space. Her rumpled bed,an unfinished painting of a fearful lady. My eyes left the painting and landed on the books littered on her table.

I picked up one of the books, “How to protect yourself,” I read,my voice piercing the silence in the room.

I flipped through the pages and saw the techniques for physical protection. “You don't need any other protection, little one. I am your Protection.” I growled as I dropped the book back on the table, making sure I dropped it the way she left it.

I went through her wardrobe and sniffed on her clothes. I have dreamt of this severally, sniffing her body and claiming her as mine. I couldn't help but lean more into the closet and my eyes came in contact with her panties. I swallowed hard as my curiosity piqued, wondering how she smells down there. I clenched fist as I tried to hold back the urges that shot through my veins.

‘Get your act together, dude.’ I growled internally.

I know you might call me crazy, weird. That's me,I can't control myself when I start obsessing. I have never felt this way towards any human, she is the first and forever mine.

I walked to her bathroom, imagining how she would be under the shower. The image alone drove me crazy as I thought of joining her in the shower and making her scream my name as I ate her up. My cock responded crazily to my imaginations but I wasn't here for that. I would save it till she gets to know me.

The click keys broke into my thoughts as the door opened quietly.

‘Fuck. I can't let her see me now.’

As I was looking for a safe corner to hide in the bathroom,my hands knocked over a bottle of shampoo.

“Crack.”

My eyes widened at the broken bottle on the floor. ‘I can't let all I had planned fail now,I have to act fast.’

I quickly went into the empty bathtub and drew the curtain to a shut. I held my breath as the bathroom door opened,I was able to peep through the small line in the curtain making me see her walk in.

Her beautiful face was looking pale, her perfectly square shoulders now dropped in defeat. It was so obvious that she was worried about the issue.

I silently watched as she squatted and began to pick the broken bottle. My body jerked as she let out a shout as her fingers got pierced by the glass. I was forced to get out of hiding and shield her from the broken glass but the risk of getting caught held me back.

I watched her movement quietly until she exited the bathroom. I let out a long breathe as stepped out of the tub as soon as the door closed behind her.

My hands messaged my forehead as it dawn on me that there's no way I can get out of here without her noticing except I wait till she falls asleep.

I waited for a while before I decided to peep through the transparent door to check on her but what I saw was thrilling.

CRYSTALThe weight of my body seemed to be pressed down, I noticed I couldn't move my hands and could only force my eyes to be opened. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was a pile of unruly hair, Ella was snoring close to my bedside mingled with the silent beep of machines around me.“Ella,” I said, barely above whispering.Ella didn't wake up at once but then was startled when my hand hit her slightly. “Crystal, thank goodness you are awake. Wait, let me get the doctor,” she said in relief as she hurried to get the doctor.I exhaled as she left, a throbbing headache resurfaced as the memory from the previous evening rushed back to my mind. Ella came back with the doctor, who checked me and instructed me to take enough rest and that I collapsed because of the stress I have been through.Ella came to sit by my side as soon as the door exited the room. “Where's Jaden?” I asked for the first time since I woke up, I was expecting to see him but he wasn't here.“He went to solve

CRYSTAL I tried wriggling myself from his grip but he was stronger. “Just stay still for a few minutes, Crys,” he rasped, his breath fanning the nap of my neck.“What are you doing, Drake?” I said, my breath hitched as he leaned in more against my back, his arms tightening around my waist. He swirled me around to face him, his eyes were darkened and I couldn't almost recognize him. I just stared at him not knowing what to say but then my lips parted slightly, “Are you not feeling well in your body? How about you go to the hospital?” I said, my voice full of concern.“It's not the kind of sickness that can be treated in the hospital, Crys.” He said, taking my hands into his then placing it on his chest, his heart beating against my hand. “I'm so sick here that I can't handle it anymore.”“Go check yourself to a doctor if you are feeling pains in your chest,” I said, confusion laced in my voice. CRYSTAL “Ella,” my eyes widened in surprise. I thought Jaden was joking when he told me that Ella was on her way.She walked towards me, leaving her bag behind, her hands across her chest in akimbo. “One thing was not informing about your trip and another thing was getting pregnant and I'm also not aware,” she said, her tone carrying a disappointing weight and hurt.“Ella, it isn't like that. I'm sorry,” I said, with remorse.“I will leave you too to settle,” Jaden said, turning to leave.Ella shot him a sharp glare, “No one told you to leave. You caused this so you will sort it,” she said almost curtly, shocking Jaden.I almost choked on my laughter, Ella was at it again. She just doesn't fear anyone. She turned to face me again, “You have a lot of explanation to do. We will talk about it after I eat,” she said, her tone firm but controlled, leaving no room for argument.I rubbed my temples, “Wait…” I said but she interrupted.“How about Mr Zenor here treating me for lunch?” She s

CRYSTAL “How was that possible?” I asked, surprise laced my voice.Jaden slid his hands into his pocket, giving me that type of look that says it's a secret. “I believe you girls will talk about it when she arrives,” he murmured l, a knowing glint in his eyes.I narrowed my eyes at him, “Are you two keeping something from me?” I asked, moving closer to him.His lips drew into a teasing smile, “Why don't you ask her instead,” he said, his voice taking a teasing edge then his lips curled into a warm smile.I scoffed, walking away from him, feigning annoyance but deep down I was enjoying stressing him. He took long strides, catching me by my wrist before I walked far, swirling me back into his arms.“Where do you think you are going to go?” He said, brows furrowed as he stared down at me with a soft, calm expression.“Where you are not,” I blurted, still feigning annoyance. “Why?”“Did Ella call you? What did she say?” I said, curiously.“Don't tell me you are still on this, Crys,” he

CRYSTAL The plan was to make him feel relaxed and have lots of fun. He’s a workaholic, I don't know if he has ever done anything like this.“Okay, let's start the game,” I announced, while my colleagues cheered.“One of the rules of the game: If you can't tell the truth, you have to drink and note the most interesting part is that you can drink on behalf of someone else.“So are we good to go,” I said, glancing at everyone on the table and of course, avoiding eye contact with Drake. “Yeah..” the others chorused except Jaden who looked like he would rather be anywhere but here.He cleared his voice, feigning a small smile, “I have a call. It's urgent,” he said, pressing his phone to his ear.I knew that tactics, I narrowed my eyes on him then stylishly collected the phone from his hand. “I doubt it, your phone screen isn't even on.”“Bursted,” Richie said, his voice barely above whisper but Jaden heard him, knocking Richie off balance with his cold glare.“Why's everywhere suddenly h

Clara's face came into view as she stood alone in front of the entrance. “Clara, it's you,” I said, a little bit nervous, hoping she wouldn't suggest she enter my room.I would be so embarrassed if she saw Jaden in my room. “It's such a nice place, thanks to Jaden for getting this type of place for us to stay,” she said, excitedly.“Yeah,” I replied, nodding my head.“Do you mind if I come in with you?” She popped the question I had been praying away silently.“Huh…No…yes,” I stuttered.Clara gazed at me comically, her lips curled into a smile, then a laughter. “You should have seen your face. Are you keeping anything in your room that you don't want anyone to see?”“Ahem… no.”“Okay, let me in then,” she insisted, passing through the open space between me and the door.I didn't argue with her further and let her go ahead and see what she wanted to see. A gasp escaped her lips when she saw Jaden seated on the coach in the c
