LOGINCHAPTER 7
CRYSTAL My heart skipped as I heard the loud crash in the bathroom. My senses awakened immediately as my heart beat with fear. I quickly scanned the room,my eyes darting around looking for something to protect myself with. I tiptoed to where the table stand was and grabbed a lamp to defend myself in case of any attack. It wasn't as if I had the strength to fight off any possible attack but it wouldn't be bad if I gave it a try— To scare the intruder,at least. Wait a minute. Could it be the stalker? No way. There is no way he would get in here. With caution I tiptoed towards the bathroom,my mind racing with worst case scenarios. ‘Could someone truly be in here?’ I thought,my anxiety spiking. As I entered the bathroom,my fingers held the lampstand firmly as I scanned the room for any sign of an intruder but it was empty. It was just the broken shampoo bottle and the content that was shattered and spilled all over the bathroom. I let my back rest on the wall as I heaved a sigh of relief —It wasn't what I thought. ‘I guess I didn't place the shampoo on the right place because I was hurrying to meet Ella,’ I assumed. Frustration kicked in as my mind went to the issue of plagiarization again. I exhaled a deep heavy breath as I bent down to pick up the broken glasses,my thoughts wandered. Distracted by my thoughts, “Ahh!” A shout escaped my mouth as a fragment of the glass pierced my finger. I winced in pain and saw blood trickling from my hand. I quickly got up and went to the sink to wash off the blood. I quickly dispose of the broken glass. My heart and mind was in turmoil as I won't stop thinking of how the reputation I tried to build is now dented. I had ignored Ella's warning and ordered a wine when going up to my hotel room. The wine arrived and I began to drown myself with its content as the memory of the comments online taunted my flexible heart. I downed the last content of the bottle,at this stage,I was intoxicated and it was starting to feel like the ground beneath me was shaking, eventually losing consciousness. STALKER POV I could feel my legs cramping from staying in a particular position for a long time. I know I wasn't supposed to be here but my curiosity and eagerness to be by her side, comforting her, assuring her that even if the world is against her. I would never leave her. She is mine. My mind hasn't been at rest since I saw the lie that was spreading on social media about her work. I know a good artist when I see one, especially the one I have been following and stalking for a long time. I wondered how she was handling the situation and my inquisitiveness wouldn't let me rest and I decided to do what I had tried holding myself back from doing. I had resisted the urge of sneaking into her hotel room severally because it wasn't part of the plan plus I respect her privacy and wouldn't want to breach that. You might be wondering, how? I always have my way around,it was an easy one to get the blueprint of her keys. I had sneaked into her room when she went to meet Ella. Her scent enveloped me as I entered the spacious room and my eyes roamed the road taking in the things that occupied the space. Her rumpled bed,an unfinished painting of a fearful lady. My eyes left the painting and landed on the books littered on her table. I picked up one of the books, “How to protect yourself,” I read,my voice piercing the silence in the room. I flipped through the pages and saw the techniques for physical protection. “You don't need any other protection, little one. I am your Protection.” I growled as I dropped the book back on the table, making sure I dropped it the way she left it. I went through her wardrobe and sniffed on her clothes. I have dreamt of this severally, sniffing her body and claiming her as mine. I couldn't help but lean more into the closet and my eyes came in contact with her panties. I swallowed hard as my curiosity piqued, wondering how she smells down there. I clenched fist as I tried to hold back the urges that shot through my veins. ‘Get your act together, dude.’ I growled internally. I know you might call me crazy, weird. That's me,I can't control myself when I start obsessing. I have never felt this way towards any human, she is the first and forever mine. I walked to her bathroom, imagining how she would be under the shower. The image alone drove me crazy as I thought of joining her in the shower and making her scream my name as I ate her up. My cock responded crazily to my imaginations but I wasn't here for that. I would save it till she gets to know me. The click keys broke into my thoughts as the door opened quietly. ‘Fuck. I can't let her see me now.’ As I was looking for a safe corner to hide in the bathroom,my hands knocked over a bottle of shampoo. “Crack.” My eyes widened at the broken bottle on the floor. ‘I can't let all I had planned fail now,I have to act fast.’ I quickly went into the empty bathtub and drew the curtain to a shut. I held my breath as the bathroom door opened,I was able to peep through the small line in the curtain making me see her walk in. Her beautiful face was looking pale, her perfectly square shoulders now dropped in defeat. It was so obvious that she was worried about the issue. I silently watched as she squatted and began to pick the broken bottle. My body jerked as she let out a shout as her fingers got pierced by the glass. I was forced to get out of hiding and shield her from the broken glass but the risk of getting caught held me back. I watched her movement quietly until she exited the bathroom. I let out a long breathe as stepped out of the tub as soon as the door closed behind her. My hands messaged my forehead as it dawn on me that there's no way I can get out of here without her noticing except I wait till she falls asleep. I waited for a while before I decided to peep through the transparent door to check on her but what I saw was thrilling.CRYSTAL Our attention was keen on Jack, waiting for him to give us a way forward. His gaze drifted swiftly before gazing at the other two.“Someone would have to stand in as the CEO,” he said, his gaze drifting back and lingered on me.I let out an unbelievable laugh, “What are you insinuating? Hope it wasn't what I thought it was?” I asked, suspicion creeping into my voice.“You have to do this for Jaden's sake, Crystal,” Jack said, his voice firm but gentle, eyes pleading as his jaw tightened. My breath etched, fingers combed through my hair in frustration as I tried to picture myself in the CEO.. it wasn't a good picture.“There's no way you would want me to do that, Jack,” I said, shaking my head slightly. “Why don't you be the acting CEO instead? You can do it better than me.”“No, Crystal. It's not possible. I don't have a say in my friend's company because we don't own it together,” Jack added.“You are right, Mr Jack. I think we have to do something fast about this because be
CRYSTAL “I think you would love to hear the good news first. The surgery was successful,” the doctor announced.I heaved a sign of relief as the doctor spoke but there was this fear because he had mentioned that there was bad news. What could it be if the surgery was successful?“The injury was very deep, it cut through his intestine slightly, twisted it way around surrounding organs, making him unable to move for a while. He was still in comma and we are unsure if he would wake up anytime soon,” the doctor explained,Everything suddenly became blurry. I was expecting to see him, hug him and tell him how scared I was after the surgery was done and now the doctor was saying that my Jaden wouldn't be awake to see me.Jack was fast enough to steady me before I could fall backwards. “What do you mean, doctor? How could he have fallen into a coma? Was there something wrong with the surgery that you aren't telling us about?” Jack asked, “Watch what you say, young man. I won't allow any d
CRYSTAL Jack moved closer to me, blocking me before I could follow the officer, “Are you sure you want to do this now…I mean you are still very much shaky because of what happened?” He murmured concern, creasing his brow.My lips pressed together as tears stinged my eyes, threatening to fall. Jack pulled me into his embrace as he saw my hesitation, because I was still shaken. “You should go clean yourself up, Crys,” Ava said, worry tightening her features as she took a small step closer.“Yea, that's right,” officer kale said. One of the nurses directed me to the restroom accompanied by Ava. I took time to wash Jaden's blood off my hands. His blood was also on my face as a result of wiping away tears from my face. For a minute, I stared at myself in the mirror, sweat covered my forehead making strands of hair glue to my face. When it seemed I was taking more time in the bathroom, Ava came to get me, locking arms with mine as we walked back to where the policeman and Jack were.“I'm
CRYSTAL I ran over to him, my hands around his neck, trying to pull him up but instead I fell on him. I ran my hands over his body trying to figure out where the blood was oozing out from.“No! Jay…please, stay with me…I beg you,” I wailed, stroking his cheeks a little.I scrambled for my bag, searching for my phone, my mind was so disorganized, not recalling where I dropped it then my eyes landed on Jaden's. I collected it quickly, punching the 911 keys before pressing the phone to my ear.“Hello, this is 911 and how can I be of help to you this evening,” a feminine voice said from the other end of the phone.“Someone is injured…I mean stabbed and he is bleeding,” I said, my shoulders trembling as the words rolled off my tongue.“Where are you right now?” She asked.“Zenor’s Estate,” I replied, tears trickling down my face.“We will be there in 10minutes,” she said, her voice brisk but thick with urgency.I shook my head, “10minutes is a lot of time,” I wailed, dropping the phone by
CRYSTAL After some few minutes, Eva opened the door, this time around her hair was neatly packed in a ponytail, her face adoned with little make up, color creept to her cheeks as her gaze darted from me to Jack.“I apologize for leaving you outside. I had to tidy some things up,” she said, softly, her voice taking a slight change— more feminine than usual.Jack held my hand again, supporting me as we entered the apartment. His hand only left my arm when I lowered my weight onto the sofa.Ava's gaze hovered around as she followed from behind, “What happened?” She said, her voice laced with worry.“I sprained my ankle a little. Thanks to Jack who took me to the hospital,” I said, shrugging lightly even as a dull ache pulsed beneath the bandage.“I would be on my way now,” Jack said, already shifting his weight towards the door.“Thank you,” I muttered, a quiet sincerity settling in my tone.“Thank you for dropping her,” Eva said with a wide and suspicious smile. There she goes again sm
CRYSTAL I blinked repeatedly as the heat of his hands seeped into my skin, his cologne also made it all worse. It was as if everything went still as we stared at each other for a while before I regained my posture and pressed my hand against his chest, making him release me and I stepped out of his hands.“Are you injured anywhere?” He asked, his voice full of concern, his gaze scrutinizing my body.“No…yes, thank you, Mr Jack,” I answered, my voice nervous from the closeness, ignoring the pain I was filling around my ankle.“You are welcome,” he said with a smile as if he hadn't just had an effect on me some seconds ago. “I think you need to go to the hospital.”I bent to pick up my broken shoe, it was my favorite, the reason why it fell apart. “I think I need to get a new shoe instead,” I replied, straightening despite my sore foot, a tight smile masked my discomfort.I tried walking barefooted but only winced as pain shot through my ankle. Jack's hands held mine gently, supporting
