CHAPTER 7
CRYSTAL My heart skipped as I heard the loud crash in the bathroom. My senses awakened immediately as my heart beat with fear. I quickly scanned the room,my eyes darting around looking for something to protect myself with. I tiptoed to where the table stand was and grabbed a lamp to defend myself in case of any attack. It wasn't as if I had the strength to fight off any possible attack but it wouldn't be bad if I gave it a try— To scare the intruder,at least. Wait a minute. Could it be the stalker? No way. There is no way he would get in here. With caution I tiptoed towards the bathroom,my mind racing with worst case scenarios. ‘Could someone truly be in here?’ I thought,my anxiety spiking. As I entered the bathroom,my fingers held the lampstand firmly as I scanned the room for any sign of an intruder but it was empty. It was just the broken shampoo bottle and the content that was shattered and spilled all over the bathroom. I let my back rest on the wall as I heaved a sigh of relief —It wasn't what I thought. ‘I guess I didn't place the shampoo on the right place because I was hurrying to meet Ella,’ I assumed. Frustration kicked in as my mind went to the issue of plagiarization again. I exhaled a deep heavy breath as I bent down to pick up the broken glasses,my thoughts wandered. Distracted by my thoughts, “Ahh!” A shout escaped my mouth as a fragment of the glass pierced my finger. I winced in pain and saw blood trickling from my hand. I quickly got up and went to the sink to wash off the blood. I quickly dispose of the broken glass. My heart and mind was in turmoil as I won't stop thinking of how the reputation I tried to build is now dented. I had ignored Ella's warning and ordered a wine when going up to my hotel room. The wine arrived and I began to drown myself with its content as the memory of the comments online taunted my flexible heart. I downed the last content of the bottle,at this stage,I was intoxicated and it was starting to feel like the ground beneath me was shaking, eventually losing consciousness. STALKER POV I could feel my legs cramping from staying in a particular position for a long time. I know I wasn't supposed to be here but my curiosity and eagerness to be by her side, comforting her, assuring her that even if the world is against her. I would never leave her. She is mine. My mind hasn't been at rest since I saw the lie that was spreading on social media about her work. I know a good artist when I see one, especially the one I have been following and stalking for a long time. I wondered how she was handling the situation and my inquisitiveness wouldn't let me rest and I decided to do what I had tried holding myself back from doing. I had resisted the urge of sneaking into her hotel room severally because it wasn't part of the plan plus I respect her privacy and wouldn't want to breach that. You might be wondering, how? I always have my way around,it was an easy one to get the blueprint of her keys. I had sneaked into her room when she went to meet Ella. Her scent enveloped me as I entered the spacious room and my eyes roamed the road taking in the things that occupied the space. Her rumpled bed,an unfinished painting of a fearful lady. My eyes left the painting and landed on the books littered on her table. I picked up one of the books, “How to protect yourself,” I read,my voice piercing the silence in the room. I flipped through the pages and saw the techniques for physical protection. “You don't need any other protection, little one. I am your Protection.” I growled as I dropped the book back on the table, making sure I dropped it the way she left it. I went through her wardrobe and sniffed on her clothes. I have dreamt of this severally, sniffing her body and claiming her as mine. I couldn't help but lean more into the closet and my eyes came in contact with her panties. I swallowed hard as my curiosity piqued, wondering how she smells down there. I clenched fist as I tried to hold back the urges that shot through my veins. ‘Get your act together, dude.’ I growled internally. I know you might call me crazy, weird. That's me,I can't control myself when I start obsessing. I have never felt this way towards any human, she is the first and forever mine. I walked to her bathroom, imagining how she would be under the shower. The image alone drove me crazy as I thought of joining her in the shower and making her scream my name as I ate her up. My cock responded crazily to my imaginations but I wasn't here for that. I would save it till she gets to know me. The click keys broke into my thoughts as the door opened quietly. ‘Fuck. I can't let her see me now.’ As I was looking for a safe corner to hide in the bathroom,my hands knocked over a bottle of shampoo. “Crack.” My eyes widened at the broken bottle on the floor. ‘I can't let all I had planned fail now,I have to act fast.’ I quickly went into the empty bathtub and drew the curtain to a shut. I held my breath as the bathroom door opened,I was able to peep through the small line in the curtain making me see her walk in. Her beautiful face was looking pale, her perfectly square shoulders now dropped in defeat. It was so obvious that she was worried about the issue. I silently watched as she squatted and began to pick the broken bottle. My body jerked as she let out a shout as her fingers got pierced by the glass. I was forced to get out of hiding and shield her from the broken glass but the risk of getting caught held me back. I watched her movement quietly until she exited the bathroom. I let out a long breathe as stepped out of the tub as soon as the door closed behind her. My hands messaged my forehead as it dawn on me that there's no way I can get out of here without her noticing except I wait till she falls asleep. I waited for a while before I decided to peep through the transparent door to check on her but what I saw was thrilling.CRYSTAL “Do you have plans with others?” He questioned, brows slightly furrowed.“No..ye..no,” I stuttered, my words tumbling over themselves. He released my hands and went to sit behind his table. “See you at lunch,” he said with a warm smile then went back to working on his laptop.I dragged my feet to my office, my thoughts heavy from what I was afraid would happen. But then there wasn't anything I could do about it… it's best I just focus on the day's work. The morning crawled by slowly and I wished lunch time never came. I sighed in frustration as a message from Jack entered my phone reminding me of our lunch together. How will I have lunch with three men separately?I glanced out of my windows to see my colleagues going towards the cafeteria. The chatter of cheers and the muffled laughter of colleagues heading to the cafeteria. My stomach growled with hunger reminding me that I didn't eat breakfast that morning.I sank into my comfy chair as my thoughts were a jumbled mess. ‘
CRYSTAL “All of a sudden?” the words slipped out before I could filter it. My voice was sharper than I intended but I couldn't hide it.Friends? With the man who sent fear into my heart? The man who had hidden behind the shadows monitoring my life.My gaze shifted to his outstretched hand, open and waiting. I didn't take it. I couldn't. Something just didn't feel right. Why was he doing this now? A normal human should have tried to make friends with me instead of stalking in the first instance. That wide smile was still on his face but that didn't stop me from seeing the flirty side of him. No matter how he smiles, it would still show.I couldn't believe all that was happening. Starting the day with a bouquet of flowers from Jack was too much and now this . It's overwhelming at the same time uncomfortable.I swallowed hard, trying to gather myself. Is this some kind of game to him? Does he think if he plays the “nice guy” long enough, I will forget the times I felt eyes on me in the
CRYSTAL Jack left after making me promise him that I would always pick his call. I dragged myself into my apartment tiredly and as soon as I opened the door Ella came showing up with one of the most hideous facial masks I have ever seen.“Hey,did you see Jack on your way? He called to let me know he would be coming,” she said, drying her hair out.I landed on the sofa, letting my tired body relax into it. “Yes,I did.” I replied, half eyes closed.“You are looking like you got hit by a truck,” she said, staring at me as she sat a chair away from me.I nodded my head, confusedly. “ It's more than being hit by a truck, Jack confessed his love for me despite knowing Jaden and I are a thing.”“What!” she exclaimed. “What was he trying to drive at?”I shook my head, “Right now, I'm so conflicted. Despite telling him how I felt, he still wants us to be friends. I'm going crazy because of this.”“There's nothing wrong in being his friend,” she replied, meeting my gaze. “My palm went over my
CRYSTAL Our lips found each other again as we began to explore each other's body. At that moment Jaden was already immersed in the act,his normal self surfacing as we spent the night wrapped in each other arms, giving and taking in every way our body craved.****We were on the road the next morning, driving back home. Jaden's large hand covered mine while the other was on the wheel but then his hand moved to my thigh, grabbing them , almost making me jump.“Let's go to my house,” he said, circling a spot on my exposed thigh. Wearing short clothes wasn't a good idea. I was so tired and exhausted and the only thing I wanted was to get a rest in the vehicle but it seemed he was still in the mood.“Your house? Why?” I asked, tilting my head in curiosity. His hand roughened my hair, “You don't want to come?” He asked, his tone clingy. He was being possessive again. I turned to narrow my gaze at him, “I would have loved but I'm still behind on the project I'm working on,” I pouted my lip
CRYSTAL “Are you just going to keep drinking?” I asked, worriedly. “You are getting me scared,”“I’m not in the mood for games right now,” he said,a scowl lingering on his face.I look away from him briefly, annoyed at his reply. “Seriously? Okay then,” I said, leaving his side with annoyance and began to unbuckle my shoe. His lips curled into a small smile as he dropped the glass of drink on the table, pulling me to sit by his side. “Okay…okay. I would stop drinking. What game are we playing?” He said, standing up to his feet almost staggering. He took my hands slowly, wrapping it around his waist, while he was around mine. His ocean blue eyes stared at me like it beheld something that's precious.“Strip trivia.” I murmured,my voice laced with challenge.“Seriously?” He groaned, his hands combing his hair in defeat. “I can't say no,can I?”“Nope,”I said, grinning, snuggling into his arms more. “No hard rules, answer the question or lose your clothing. And if you are out of clothes…”I l
CRYSTAL I now know the reason behind Jaden's harsh behavior—maybe there was more than one reason. They deserve every bit of the treatment Jaden showed them.“Make the right choice?” I asked, throwing his words at him. My brow furrowed in disgust, “Of course,I would.”“Good,I knew you were one smart lady. Immediately I set my eyes on you,” he grinned selfishly.I gave him a long steady look,my hands loose in front of me.“With all due respect, I'm sorry to disappoint you,Mr Zenor,” I began calmly but firmly. “Your son isn't some commodity that's for transaction,”His jaw tightened, faced red with anger and I could bet his eyes would pop out of its sockets if he didn't calm his temper but I kept going. “You want me to step aside quietly so he can marry someone else for selfish gains, you have picked the wrong woman. I'm not leaving his side. Never.”His eyes flickered and his eyes shadowed as he moved closer to me. He was as tall as Jaden so his height was imposing and my body trembled.
