LOGINJayden pulled back instantly, his hands trembling as he grabbed the man's shoulders.
But then, he staggered back, head spinning as the taste of bile clung to his mouth. He tried to step away, but his body betrayed him, with a shuddering groan, he collapsed, heat and dizziness spinning him into darkness. The man's arms wrapped around him effortlessly, strong and firm steadying him against his fall. Without a word, he carried Jayden silently towards the large bed, a smirk flashing in his eyes. — Morning came in a blur, Jayden's eyelids fluttered open to the soft hum of the city below. His head throbbed heavily, throat dry and scorching, stomach twisting in protest. He blinked against the dim light filtering through thick black curtains, slowly scanning the room around him. Everything was dark, curtains, furniture and even the beddings he lay on, making him dizzy. He grabbed his head as memories flooded in. The sharp taste of alcohol, the kiss, the sudden vomit and then the odd intoxicating warmth he felt in his arms. His stomach lurched again, his eyes flickering to his body. His breath stiffened, the moment he noticed his shirt was gone. Without thinking, he flung the thick blanket on his body aside, air filling his lungs when he found his trouser was still on. Just then, a shirt was flown towards him from a corner. “What were you thinking?” a voice teased, lowly. A sharp flush of embarrassment ran through him, mixed with lingering confusion as his gaze met the man sitting on the couch. “I…..” “Were you expecting to sleep on my bed with puke all over your shirt?” the man asked, voice calm. Jayden swallowed. “Thanks.” He grabbed the shirt, his fingers shaking as he slid it on. “There is a spare toothbrush in the bathroom,” the man added. “Join me for breakfast.” “I will pass,” Jayden said instantly. The corner of the man's lips twitched upward. “I won't eat you up. Hangover soup works best immediately after sleep.” Jayden reluctantly forced a smile. “I will be in the bathroom then.” By the time he was out, the table was already set. The man sat at the head of the long table, his hair covering his face. But he was shirtless, his strong and firm build on display. Jayden's eyes dropped, his throat swallowing nothing as he turned away, taking a seat across from him. The soup smelled earthly and strong, almost medicinal. With trembling fingers, he stirred the soup, mind spinning. “About last night,” he muttered, trying to keep his voice casual. “Let’s pretend it never happened. And keep our distance.” The man lifted his gaze, staring at him for a second before returning to his bowl. “Mmmmm,” he finally hummed, a faint unreadable smile tugged at his lips. Jayden's chest tightened, the room suddenly feeling small. He drank the soup in one go and stood up hastily but then a phone vibrated sharply beside the man. The man peeked at the screen before pushing it towards Jayden. “Someone must be waiting somewhere.” Jayden felt his heart jump as he glanced at it and saw countless missed calls and messages from Drake. Without hesitation, he snatched up the phone, eyes wide and bolted from the room. But just as he was leaving, he collided with a man clad in black coming in and his pendant around his neck slipped, falling to the floor. The man coming in picked it up instantly and called back at him but he was long gone. “Bring it here,” the man seated at the table ordered. The pendant was handed to him alongside two documents. “Boss, this is what you requested.” The man waved his hand and the man clad in black left without a word. The man’s eyes sparkled with dark amusement as he turned the pendant between his fingers. Slowly, he picked up the first document, eyes paused on a picture. “Jayden Hawley seems like we will see each other soon again.” The corners of the man's mouth curved, dark amusement sparking in his eyes as he skimmed the second document. “Drake Dortmund, looks like a new plaything has arrived.” — The day dragged on for Jayden, each second felt too stuffy. He called Drake countless times, heart hammering each time the phone went straight to voicemail. The weight of worry and guilt coiled inside him like a live wire. Without thinking, he left the office, driving speedily towards Drake’s company. But when he got there, the receptionist and assistant blocked him at every turn. “Sir, he's not available.” They said each time. “His car is in the garage,” Jayden's voice cracked. “Just tell him, it's me.” But they turned him away, no matter how much he pleaded. Defeated and breathless, he returned to his office, frustration and panic burning like fire in his chest. Pushing the door open, he froze. A figure sat in his chair, back turned to him, broad, imposing and calm. Jayden’s chest tightened instinctively, a mixture of fear and irritation knotting inside him. “Who are you?” he demanded, voice trembling. The chair groaned as the figure turned slowly, a faint smirk dancing on his lips. “Ronan.” Jayden's jaw clenched, heart hammering. “ You! We agreed to keep our distance.” Ronan rose, lifting something small, delicate and glimmering, Jayden’s pendant. “You left this.” Jayden reached instinctively, but Ronan’s hand withdrew just out of reach. “And what…what do you want?” Jayden demanded, voice sharp. Ronan’s smirk widened, dark and playful. “A kiss.” Jayden stilled. “I…have a boyfriend.” Ronan chuckled softly, the sound low and dangerous. “Then why did you kiss me so hungrily, last night?” Jayden opened his mouth, but words failed him. Ronan approached closer, gaze sharp and commanding. “Anything first of yours. After all, you stole my first kiss.” Jayden’s stomach twisted, pulse spiking as he stared from the pendant glinting to the face holding it.The night air struck Ronan's lungs the second he jumped off Jayden's window, landing on the gravel below. His knees bent instantly to absorb the impact, his coat flaring behind him before settling into stillness. For a moment, he didn't move as his eyes lifted instinctively towards Jayden's room watching the curtains sway faintly.Ronan exhaled slowly and turned, moving along the wall in swift silence.Every step was measured and controlled like the practiced movements of someone who had survived too many ambushes to trust quiet nights. He was three strides from the fence when suddenly his instinct screamed halting his step. His gaze shifted sideways too quickly and there were men, dressed entirely in black, blending into the darkness so perfectly they almost didn't exist. They had no flashlights, no voices nor sound accompanying them just slow patrol patterns designed for one purpose. “To capture him.”Ronan's jaw tightened. “You never change, old man.” he murmured under his breath.
The gunshot still echoed in Jayden’s ears long after the sound died.Blood hit the floor first, quietly.Jayden’s gaze lifted inch by inch until the figure standing in front of him came into focus, Black. His shoulders trembled slightly, one hand pressed against the spreading stain soaking through his coat. Dark red seeped between his fingers, dripping steadily onto the concrete.Alessio lowered the gun, irritation flashing across his face.“What,” he said coldly, “do you think you are doing?”Black exhaled through clenched teeth, voice steady despite the strain. “Why don't you rethink this?”Jayden stared, breath stuck somewhere between his lungs and throat.“He’s still useful,” Black continued calmly. “Killing him now gains us nothing.”Smoke curled from Alessio’s cigarette as he tilted his head. “You stepped in front of my bullet.”“Sir…”“Do you believe your explanation is worth it?” Alessio interrupted, coldly.Black's lips twitched faintly. “I believe it is, if you spare me a c
The air in the room seemed to vanish as sweat clouded Jayden's palm.Black stood by the doorway, hands tucked casually into his coat pockets, his expression carved from stone.Sunlight hit him from behind, turning him into a silhouette blocking the only clear path to the door.“Well,” Black said mildly, gaze drifting to the bedstand. “You never disappoint me.”Jayden’s breathing came out fast and heavy as his hands instinctively pulled out the USB drive and slid it into his pocket. But Black noticed his movement, his lips curving faintly. “Your actions are so predictable.”Jayden's lips quivered. “What do you want?”Jayden chuckled under his breath and took a step forward, each step closing the distance between them.“So,” Black continued, ignoring Jayden's question, “this is what you've been rushing your life for.”Jayden swallowed. “My life is none of your business.”“None of my business?” Black repeated, stopping at the foot of the bed.So close enough for Jayden to notice the fain
The tension in the room was so sharp as Drake gazed at Jayden, the phone sitting firmly on his outstretched palm.Jayden’s heartbeat pounded so violently that he took a step back afraid Drake might hear it.“My arm hurts, Jayden.” he said, voice low.Jayden swallowed, his fingers trembling so badly as he took the phone from Drake.Just then, the phone vibrated against his palm and he nearly dropped the phone.“Who's that?” Drake inquired, instantly.Jayden's breath caught when he saw the message. “Dial this number.” it read.He quickly turned slightly away, pressing the phone against his chest as if shielding it from sight.Drake reached for the phone. “Hand it over.”Jayden's throat tightened. “I…I…I will call him.”And without thinking, he dialed the number afraid Drake might suspect if he wasted even one quarter of a second. The ringing lasted for a second, then…“Jayden? Finally,” a familiar voice answered warmly. “You ended the call abruptly. Is there any problem?”Jayden's stoma
The crack of the gunshot shattered the morning before Jayden even understood what the sound was as glass exploded behind him.A sharp hand slammed into his chest. “Down!”The world tilted violently as Drake dragged him to the floor, Jayden's shoulder hitting marble as breath knocked out of his lungs.Drake's body covered his instinctively, one arm braced over Jayden's head as another shot rang somewhere outside.Silence followed heavy and ringing.Jayden blinked as his ears buzzed, Drake's familiar cologne scent mixed with blood and shattered glasses lingering in his nose.Drake didn't move as his weight pressed solidly over Jayden, shielding him completely.“Stay down,” Drake whispered, voice low but tight.Jayden opened his mouth. “I…..”“Don’t.” Drake’s hand slid over Jayden’s side, quick and searching. “Are you hit?”Jayden froze. “You….”Drake’s hands moved again, urgently, patting his ribs, his arms, his waist as his fingers trembled just enough to betray him.“Drake…”“Answer m
The contact between them lasted only a second and yet the air changed instantly.Jayden's eyes widened first, then reality slammed back into him as he shoved Drake hard. “We agreed on boundaries.” he said, his voice coming out sharper than he intended.Drake fell off the bed with a loud thud, more from surprise than force and stood up instantly as if to steady the moment itself.Jayden stood stiffly across him, wiping his lips with the back of his hand, his breathing uneven but his gaze refused to settle anywhere near Drake's face.Silence stretched between them. For a fraction of a second, something raw flickered across Drake's expression, confusion and then hurt but disappeared so quickly if almost felt imagined.Drake let out a short laugh that felt wrong. “Relax,” he said, running a hand through his hair. *You're acting like I planned it.”Jayden said nothing, as his fingers still wiped his lips. The distance between them suddenly feeling too enormous.Drake cleared his throat an
Ronan banged the bathroom door behind them, the scent of cedar filling the air.Steam rose immediately as he twisted the faucet, the sound of rushing water filling the space like a warning.Jayden barely had time to steady himself before Ronan stepped under the running water, warm water hitting the
Back at the city, Drake stood against the wall of his penthouse bathroom, blood smeared all over his body and pooling on the spot he stood on. His cold eyes gleamed dangerously as he stared at the bath tub filled with water mixed with ashes. On the floor not far from the bath tub lay a broken whi
*I said I’ll pay it,” Jayden repeated. “All of it.”Ronan took a step forward, then another, until Jayden’s back hit the wall.Ronan’s hand braced beside his head, caging him in. “Careful,” he murmured. “You have no idea what you’re offering.”Jayden lifted his chin, breath trembling. “You think I
The air in the room seemed to tense as they both sat staring at the television without a word.On the screen, Drake signed, shoulders slumping just enough to look regretful.“I take full responsibility for the altercation,” Drake said, smoothly. “I never wanted this to become public.”Ronan let out
