LOGINELENA.
I didn’t sleep properly.
Every time I close my eyes. I see him.
Only him. I see those grey eyes and how they stared at me.
I keep on hearing his voice and what he said to me. “Stay away from me El”
Why did he call me that night? how did he get my number?
These thoughts are driving me crazy.
I have work and I need to focus.
…..
The hospital felt the same as always. The smell of drugs, attending to patient and the clean atmosphere.
I feel safe as a nurse. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse since I was a kid.
And somehow that feeling should calm me, but at the moment I wasn’t feeling calm.
I moved through my duties, adjusting drips, attending to patient and checking charts like I always do.
But my mind was somewhere else.
It kept drifting back to the hotel, the engagement party and him.
“Elena.” Violet says, dragging me out of my thoughts.
I stare at her, realizing I’ve been staring at the chart for over three minutes.
“Um…yes?”
“You’ve been staring at that for over three minutes now,” she said, crossing her arms. “You’re still thinking about him right?”
I sigh, gently closing the file.
“I’m trying not to, but I can’t help it.”
“Elena I told you to just let it go.” She warns softly.
“How do I let go of something I don’t understand?”
“You’ve to forget because it’s dangerous” she says. “He isn’t a man you should get involved with.”
“I’m already involved”
“That’s because you don’t want to let go.”
I didn’t give her any response, because I knew she was right but still I can’t just let it go. I need answers.
A sharp voice cuts in. “enough talking you two.”
We both turn. It’s Dr. Rex.
He walks towards us. His eyes lingering towards me before shifting away.
“You two are both aware this a hospital and not a social gathering. You’re not being paid for chitchats.
“We are very sorry sir." Violet says quickly.
“There’s a patient waiting at the VIP room 3.” He continues. “He has a minor head injury. Now one of you go and attend to him.”
“I’ll go.” I say in a low voice.
Violets turns to me. “Are you sure?”
“It’s fine. I’ll do it.”
I needed this. I needed to be distracted from him.
…..
The VIP room 3 was quiet and guarded.
There were two body guards standing close to the door, they looked terrifying.
My steps are slow as I walk towards the door.
Everything felt different.
“I’m the nurse assigned to attend to the patient” I say, trying not to show them how afraid I was by their presence.
They stare at me.
“Name?” the one at the right asked.
“Elena carter.”
They both study me for a moment before stepping aside for me to pass.
Heart beating fast as my hand grips the door handle.
I don’t know why I felt this way.
But it wasn’t supposed to be a big deal.
I push the door open and close it slowly behind me.
The moment my eyes scan through the room. Everything suddenly shifts.
No it can’t be.
My breathe catches.
It’s him.
Mr. Brandon.
He sat on the hospital couch like he owned the whole building, his head had a small slit, resulting to the spill of blood. I don’t know why he looked incredibly hot to me at this moment.
My eyes dropped to his neck. Those tattoos. The same ones I can’t seem to forget.
My stomach drops when he looks up and our eyes meet.
And for a second I lose myself.
I felt my skin burning as I looked into his grey eyes and the thin scar across his left eyebrow.
His eyes were captivating in a very dangerous way.
“Are you going to keep staring at me?” his voice is calm with a sound of impatient. “…or treat me?”
I find myself back quickly, trying to force my legs to move. “I…I’m sorry” I say, stepping forward and close to him.
I’ve to be professional. That’s all I’ve to do right now.
I set the tray down. Picking up a cotton wool. “It’s just a minor injury you’ll be fine.” I said, examining his head.
I carefully clean the wound, with my heartbeat racing. Before applying the plaster.
I could feel his gaze on me and somehow it was making me lose focus.
This shouldn’t affect me, especially not from someone who pretends like I don’t exist.
I step back quickly once I’m done.
“You will need to take medications to ease the pain.” I say, slowly taking the drugs from the tray.
He looks at the drugs and then looks at me.
He didn’t respond to me and didn’t take the drugs either.
Instead he stood up like I was just another nurse doing her job, like I was not even in the room.
Something in me suddenly snaps.
He walks towards the door, before he could reach out for the door handle-
“What happened that night?” I let out the question sharply and quickly.
Then he freezes.
He slowly turns and finally he looks at me.
My hearts begins to pound but I don’t care anymore. “I know it was you. You were the one who took me to the hotel. What happened? What did you do to me?”
There’s a pause but then he does something unbelievable. He smirks.
“I didn’t think you would remember.”
My chest tightens. So he knows. He was just pretending all this time.
But then he says something that hits my head, “I don’t do virgins.”
I freeze. The word hits harder than I thought. I’ve been insulted and humiliated by Rita before but his words were different, it pierced through my skin like a sharp blade.
My voice tightens. "Then why did you call me? How did you get my number?”
His expression doesn’t change. Still cold and unreadable.
“Like I said” he says slowly. “Stay away from me.”
I don’t know why his words hurt me so much. But it shouldn’t because now I know the truth.
He didn’t do anything to me. He didn’t sleep with me because I was virgin.
I let out a slow breathe, my fingers shaking.
Why does his presence affect me so much? I’ve seen a lot of handsome guys but he was different.
He stares at me one more time.
He turns slowly, before his hands could reach the door.
The door slowly opened.
“Brandon I’ve been looking for-” Rita cuts in.
Silence fills the room as her eyes lands on me. Then on Brandon. Then back to me.
“What are you doing with my fiancé?”
ELENA.The moment he told me to leave I felt something unhinged in me. Like if I didn’t leave this instant something bad would happen.“I’m not going to leave until you answer my questions.” I say quickly. He stares at me, more dangerously now. His gaze feels like it could tear through my skin,“I just want-““Stop giving yourself ideas” he interrupts. My breathe catches as I swallow the lump in my throat.“I already told you,” he continues, his voice is sharper now and cold. “I don’t do virgins. Nothing happened between us. And nothing ever will”My stomach drops. The air gets heavy. I couldn’t think straight anymore, like he had stolen all that was left inside me.“What if I was not?” He raises his left eyebrow. “What?”“What if I was not a virgin? Would you have touched me that night?” the words come out of my mouth sharply.I couldn’t take the emotional pain he was putting me through. For a moment something in his eyes changes but then they change to the normal dark, cold, dangero
ELENA.Chapter 7: The tattoo. The hospital doors slid shut behind me.I walked inside with my wet scrubs clinging on my skin with Brandon’s jacket on my shoulders.Everyone stared at me.I forced a smile on my face as I walked quickly toward the lobby.“Elena?” Violet’s voice cut through the lobby noise. She hurried toward me.Her eyes scanning my wet scrubs and the black suit jacket on my shoulder.“What happened?” she asked, stopping right in front of me.I sat on the iron bench, pulling Brandon’s jacket off my shoulder.“Why are you all wet? Whose suit is that?” she stared at me in confusion. “Dr. Rex has been looking for you, he’s been screaming like a loud monkey the whole morning. Elena what happened?”I stared at her for a few seconds. “I don’t know how to say this, violet. It’s a long story.”“Well good thing we are alone. Now tell me, who is the asshole that did this to you?” violet asked, narrowing her eyes.“It’s Rita” I mutter.“What? That bitch is beginning to get on my ne
ELENA.The thought of that photo didn’t leave my head.Did Brandon take them just to blackmail me?The morning air was supposed to cool me off but it didn’t.I rode my bike towards the hospital, hoping I could finally have a good day after my unsuccessful encounter with Mr. Brandon. However, my peace was shattered the moment I stopped at the curb in front of the hospital.A car rushed by and splashed a wall of water on me. My mouth opened in shock. “Hey! What the hell-”I yelled as I watched the car screech to a halt. Then I looked closer… and of course it was Rita’s car.She got out of the car with her friend, and they were both laughing. They stood back with their arms crossed, a smug expression appeared on Rita’s face.“This isn’t funny, Rita!” I yelled out.Rita stared at me for a second, before bursting into a loud laugh. “That’s what you deserve, you low life bitch.” She scoffed. “Just take a look at you, all wet. I know you’re too embarrassed to walk into the hospital.”Her f
ELENA.“Elena. I asked you a question. What are you doing with my fiancé?” Rita’s voice was sharp.“I’m just doing my job”She didn’t look convinced. Her eyes moved between me and Brandon, searching for something suspicious. But Brandon's expression didn't change.“Your job? Since when did you start attending to patient in the VIP room?” before I could respond. She walked quickly to Brandon, letting out a soft tone. “Are you okay?”Rita reached for his arm, but he stopped her.“I’m fine” his voice was calm and flat.Something changes across Rita’s face, but she quickly hides her facial expression. Then without another word, Brandon steps out of the room leaving only me and Rita alone.I didn’t even have a second to breathe before she turned to me. “Now tell me. What were you doing to Brandon?”“Isn’t it obvious? I was treating him”“Don’t you dare lie to me. I saw the way you looked at him. Now let me warn you, stay away from him and don’t you ever touch him again” she warns.I didn’t

ELENA.“You had what?” violet eyes widened and her voice drops in a sharp whisper. She tightens her fingers around my arm, her eyes staring at me like I’ve just lost my mind.“You…you had a one night stand with your sister’s fiancé?”“I…I didn’t know” I say as my eyes are locked on Brandon standing beside my sister. “I told you I don’t remember everything”Violet blinks her eyes. “This is serious Elena, you’ve to remember something.”My voice cracks. “I only remember his tattoos and his voice. I remember…” my eyes fall on his tattoos. “I remember his touch. I know it’s him.”“Do you even know who that is?”At this moment I didn’t care who he was anymore, that didn’t matter. I just want to know what happened between us and why he had left me at the hotel.I care only about the truth.“Oh my goodness if I had known that the name on that card is the same as Mr. Brandon Donovan” violet continues. “One of the famous known billionaire CEO of Don’s enterprise.
