ANMELDENELENA.
The thought of that photo didn’t leave my head.
Did Brandon take them just to blackmail me?
The morning air was supposed to cool me off but it didn’t.
I rode my bike towards the hospital, hoping I could finally have a good day after my unsuccessful encounter with Mr. Brandon.
However, my peace was shattered the moment I stopped at the curb in front of the hospital.
A car rushed by and splashed a wall of water on me.
My mouth opened in shock. “Hey! What the hell-”
I yelled as I watched the car screech to a halt.
Then I looked closer… and of course it was Rita’s car.
She got out of the car with her friend, and they were both laughing.
They stood back with their arms crossed, a smug expression appeared on Rita’s face.
“This isn’t funny, Rita!” I yelled out.
Rita stared at me for a second, before bursting into a loud laugh. “That’s what you deserve, you low life bitch.” She scoffed. “Just take a look at you, all wet. I know you’re too embarrassed to walk into the hospital.”
Her friend snickered beside her, but Rita didn’t care.
She stared at me with so much hatred in her eyes.
I wanted to throw everything in her face. The one night stand. Her fiancé’s betrayal. Everything that happened that night. I wanted her to feel the same humiliation I was feeling right now.
But something held me back. I took a deep breath, my fist clenched at my side.
Not yet. I won’t let her watch me break.
Before I could say anything else, a sleek black car rolled in front of us, tires screeching. The car windows were tinted and the air suddenly shifted. I knew exactly who it was before the door opened.
Brandon.
He stepped out of his car, dressed in his usual black suit, tall and imposing, his dark silk hair styled perfectly, and his grey eyes were cold and intimidating.
He glared at Rita, then his gaze settled on me, and he stopped.
My chest tightened.
For a second, his eyes flickered at my wet clothes before settling back on me.
He didn’t say a word. He just stared at me with an unreadable, cold expression, like he was trying to put the pieces of the scene together.
“What’s going on here?” his voice was cold as ice.
Rita moved quickly, stepping between me and Brandon with a wide, fake smile. “Nothing, baby. Nothing.”
Before she could say another word, Brandon brushed past her and walked straight to me.
That cold look on his face hadn’t changed.
My heart began to skip.
Rita’s gaze darted nervously between us. Her lips, pressed into a thin line.
For some reasons I expected the worst.
For him to shout or tear me apart in front of Rita.
But he didn’t.
He did something I didn’t expect.
He stepped closer.
His grey eyes locked onto me for a second.
Then he unbutton his jacket smoothly and held it out to me.
Rita’s eyes widened.
I froze.
My wet shirt clung to my skin, and taking his jacket felt like admitting defeat in front of him and Rita.
I stared at the jacket, then at him.
Why was he helping me?
“What..? Brandon-” Rita’s voice cracked in confusion.
But Brandon didn’t look at her.
His eyes were still locked on me.
Like I was the only one that existed in the world right then.
He didn’t speak.
He didn’t move.
He just stood there, holding the jacket out like he had all the time in the world.
I stood still, my body trembling slightly.
Part of me wanted to accept his jacket.
But the other part didn’t trust him.
Not when I still didn’t know if he was the one behind the photo.
Then his voice, low and even, cut through the silence. “Stop trembling.”
Before I could answer, he stepped forward and threw the jacket over my shoulder.
His fingers brushed my skin for a second.
It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t kind.
It felt possessive.
“Brandon! What the hell?” Rita’s voice was sharp and high.
Her eyes darted between me and him.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
There was a sudden silence between us.
It was heavy and awkward.
Then Rita walked closer to me, trying to snatch the jacket on my shoulders.
“Give that back.”
Brandon caught her hand before she could touch me.
His grip was firm but he didn’t look at her.
His eyes were still locked on me.
“Let’s go,” he said quietly. “Rita. Tell your friend to leave” he added, without breaking eye contact.
Rita’s lips parted but she couldn’t say a word.
I saw her friend standing by her car, take a step back like she saw danger coming.
She didn’t wait for a second warning. She stopped a taxi quickly and left.
Brandon turned his gaze off me, as he released Rita’s wrist and guided her towards his car.
She didn’t hesitate or fight him.
This was the first time I ever saw Rita submit to anyone.
The car door shut with a loud thud, and they drove off, leaving me standing at the front of the hospital.
It took me a second to notice.
People were staring at me.
In his jacket.
Speechless.

ELENA.“Elena. I asked you a question. What are you doing with my fiancé?” Rita’s voice was sharp.“I’m just doing my job”She didn’t look convinced. Her eyes moved between me and Brandon, searching for something suspicious. But Brandon's expression didn't change.“Your job? Since when did you start attending to patient in the VIP room?” before I could respond. She walked quickly to Brandon, letting out a soft tone. “Are you okay?”Rita reached for his arm, but he stopped her.“I’m fine” his voice was calm and flat.Something changes across Rita’s face, but she quickly hides her facial expression. Then without another word, Brandon steps out of the room leaving only me and Rita alone.I didn’t even have a second to breathe before she turned to me. “Now tell me. What were you doing to Brandon?”“Isn’t it obvious? I was treating him”“Don’t you dare lie to me. I saw the way you looked at him. ELENA.I didn’t sleep properly.Every time I close my eyes. I see him.Only him. I see those grey eyes and how they stared at me.I keep on hearing his voice and what he said to me. “Stay away from me El”Why did he call me that night? how did he get my number? These thoughts are driving me crazy.I have work and I need to focus.…..The hospital felt the same as always. The smell of drugs, attending to patient and the clean atmosphere.I feel safe as a nurse. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse since I was a kid.And somehow that feeling should calm me, but at the moment I wasn’t feeling calm.I moved through my duties, adjusting drips, attending to patient and checking charts like I always do.But my mind was somewhere else.It kept drifting back to the hotel, the engagement party and him.“Elena.” Violet says, dragging me out of my thoughts.I stare at her, realizing I’ve been staring at the chart for over three minutes.“Um…yes?”“You’ve been staring at that for over three minutes n
ELENA.“You had what?” violet eyes widened and her voice drops in a sharp whisper. She tightens her fingers around my arm, her eyes staring at me like I’ve just lost my mind.“You…you had a one night stand with your sister’s fiancé?”“I…I didn’t know” I say as my eyes are locked on Brandon standing beside my sister. “I told you I don’t remember everything”Violet blinks her eyes. “This is serious Elena, you’ve to remember something.”My voice cracks. “I only remember his tattoos and his voice. I remember…” my eyes fall on his tattoos. “I remember his touch. I know it’s him.”“Do you even know who that is?”At this moment I didn’t care who he was anymore, that didn’t matter. I just want to know what happened between us and why he had left me at the hotel.I care only about the truth.“Oh my goodness if I had known that the name on that card is the same as Mr. Brandon Donovan” violet continues. “One of the famous known billionaire CEO of Don’s enterprise. He is one of the rich and power
ELENA.The hallways outside the hotel room was quiet. There were red soft carpets beneath my feet and a dim lightning.I felt something strange, like I didn’t fit in anywhere, but that wouldn’t stop me from finding out the truth.I take a walk slowly to the receptionist, she looks up at me as I approached the desk.“Good morning ma’am. How may I assist you?” her smiles were polite.I smile back at her before dropping the card slowly on her desk. “Good morning…I...I found myself in one of the rooms upstairs” I hesitate for a second before asking. “I’m looking for the man who ordered room 12 last night, Mr. Brandon.”The moment I mentioned the name, her smile fades quickly and her expressions are suddenly unreadable, she looked frightened. Then she smiles at me again but this time I could tell she was faking it. “I’m very sorry ma’am. We do not disclose information about our guest.”My chest tightens. “No you’ve got it all wrong. I am not asking for their personal details” I say carefu
ELENAI woke up with a strange headache and a silence atmosphere that wasn’t even making sense. For a moment, I don’t move.My eyes were still closed and my body felt weak and still, I was afraid that if I opened my eyes, something might go wrong. But something was wrong already. The unfamiliar scents in the air, the sheets beneath me were smoother than I could imagine and my instincts began to buckle up. This room isn’t mine.My brows pull together, as I slowly open my eyes.“Where...am...I?”The ceilings were pure white and the room had a very wide space. My heart begins to race. I sit up quickly, and a sharp feeling of dizziness hits me, making me hold unto the sheets with my head spinning like I was about to collapse.“Where am I? How did I get here?” I ask myself with a dry and an uncertain voice.I looked around the whole room and that’s when I find something unfamiliar. This is a hotel room. A five star hotel room. My chest tightens. “No! This doesn’t make sense.” I push the b
