Male POV

Winning Back the Husband

Cheating

On the 1,001st day, Ruby Anderson still hadn't shown up at the city hall. The staff member tapped on the rejected application form and laughed at me mockingly. "Mr. Scott, this makes a thousand times, You should set a time with Ms. Anderson before coming back. "Stop wasting everyone's time." Everyone knew that Ruby was the richest person in this city. She had very limited time. When she was happy, everyone would respectfully address me as "Mr. Scott". However, when she was upset, I would be treated even worse than her nanny. Everyone would take a dig at me. They seemed to have forgotten that she was the one who proposed to me 99 times with roses. She had told the whole world that I was the only man she wanted to marry. I naively believed that she was always too busy. Until I found 997 used condoms locked inside her safe. Each one was labeled with the time and place, along with the name of her first love. This time, I didn't ask her again when we were going to register our marriage. Instead, I called that number, my voice calm. "Please reserve one application form for the memory-erasure experiment for me."

Chapter 1
After I ended the call, I got a pop-up notification of Ruby Anderson's live location. It indicated that she was at a mansion on top of a mountain. Ruby had bought it three years ago for our future marriage.I drove there. The door was ajar. When I walked in, the floor was covered in shirts and underwear. The clothing trailed all the way from the living room to the bedroom. I clearly heard chatting and heavy breathing in the bedroom. "You brought me back to your marital house today. Aren't you afraid that Arthur would suddenly show up?" "He won't. Today's the day we're supposed to register our marriage. He'd still be waiting at the city hall like a fool." I hung my head. A cold sensation overcame me, and I struggled to breathe. It had been more than a thousand days. Evidently, she remembered the date and time we once agreed upon. I laughed at myself and opened the bedroom door. I did not even flinch when I saw the two intimate figures on the bed. All I did was t

Chapter 2
Ted fell off the bed with a great howl. At that moment, Ruby finally returned to her senses. She frantically pressed her hands against Ted's wound. She glared at me with teary eyes. "Arthur, you've lost your mind!" The ambulance arrived soon afterward, and the paramedics placed Ted on the stretcher. She held Ted's hand tightly, and she looked very pained from seeing Ted hurt. Before they left, Ruby turned around to glare at me. My heart sank when I saw the hatred in her gaze. I was left alone in the mansion. I stood in a daze for a very long time. As I glanced around the mansion, I found that it had been designed exactly to my liking. I still recalled Ruby's words from the other day. "Arthur, from today onwards, this will be our home for the rest of our lives." At that moment, I could only feel revulsion. I left the mansion and went back to my rental apartment. My phone rang nonstop the entire way back.I knew she was calling me, but I did not answer. Aft

Chapter 3
After Ruby left, she still didn't show up the next day.I threw the travel souvenir we bought together into the trash can. I also threw away the ring on my finger. She had specially hired a world-class designer to create it.Her initials had been engraved on the ring. I did not take it off in the past three years, but she never once wore her ring throughout the three years. The research information had been sent to my inbox. It was a memory erasure experiment. Ruby was a huge investor. The experiment meant to erase painful memories and allow the person to start all over again. "Mr. Scott, the application form that you've requested has been sent to you. But are you sure you want to participate in this experiment?" When I received the application form, the lead researcher, Eddie Thompson, gave me a call. "There is a huge risk. If anything goes wrong, it may cause irreversible damage to your brain."Do we need to inform Ms. Anderson about this?"I answered indifferen

Chapter 4
At some point, a crowd of reporters had gathered outside the mansion. When they saw my pathetic look, they aimed their cameras at me. "I heard that in order to marry the richest woman in this city, you were rejected by the city hall a thousand times. Is that true?""Besides, did you release fake news to ruin Mr. Reid's reputation because you couldn't get the woman that you wanted?" My face was pale from the immense pain I was feeling. The bite wounds kept bleeding, soaking through the bandages. When I looked up, I saw Ruby and Ted standing nearby. She was looking at me with a complicated expression. Then, she held Ted's hand and disappeared from sight. The reporters would not gather here without any reason. Someone must have tipped them off to clear Ted's name. The best way to do that was to discredit me instead. When I realized that, I gave a bitter smile.I ignored the rowdy reporters as I dragged my battered body to the research center. On the way there, I log

Chapter 5
After she left the mansion, Ruby could no longer reach me. Ruby waited for me for almost two hours, but I did not show up at all. She irritably stared at our conversation history. On her finger was the matching ring from three years ago.It was the first time she ever wore it. Just when she was about to run out of patience, her assistant called her in a flustered voice. "Ms. Anderson, bad news! You should go online and have a look." Ruby frowned. When she went online, she saw the post had already gone viral. I rarely used social media, but I had uncharacteristically posted something. All of her intimate photos with Ted as well as the 997 condoms in her company's safe had been uploaded. Blood immediately drained out of Ruby's face. She stood up abruptly and rushed out of the apartment. No one knew the location of her safe aside from me. She had already swallowed her pride and asked for a reconciliation, yet I still pulled the trigger. Ruby was extremely furious.

Chapter 6
Ruby snatched the list from Eddie as she flipped through it with trembling hands. Every piece of information matched me.Ruby's body started swaying. She abruptly pushed Eddie aside and rushed into the research center. She yelled at the researchers inside. "Where's Arthur? Where's he?"Her voice echoed in the lab. The researcher, John Smith, was stunned as he stammered. "Mr. Scott was our third participant. I believe he's already…"Ruby's mind went blank immediately. Her face went completely blank. She subconsciously instructed John to stop the experiment. Why would I opt for the procedure? Why did she not know about it? Who was I planning to forget? "Stop. Stop the experiment! I'm telling you to stop right now!" She roared, but the researchers were exchanging glances. Finally, Eddie said helplessly, "Ms. Anderson, the first ten participants have completed the memory erasure procedure and left safely." Ruby had still been forcing herself to stay calm.Howev

Chapter 7
When she thought about that, she felt a piercing pain through her heart. Unwillingness to let go, mixed with possessiveness, made her desperate to find me and bring me back.Ruby did not care if I had forgotten about her. She would have many ways to make me remember who she was. Ruby loosened her fists. However, before she could calm down, another piece of news surprised her. The investigators who were investigating the news sources from the paparazzi came back to her. They told Ruby, "Ms. Anderson, Mr. Reid was the one who leaked the news last time. Mr. Scott had nothing to do with it." Ruby grabbed the edge of the table with both hands and found it hard to breathe. What did she do?She threw me into the lake and fed me to the piranhas over Ted's lies. As I left, riddled with injuries, she had simply watched. Ruby bit her lower lip and went to my social media page. The statement hurt her. [I would not admit what I had not done. I'm not a homewrecker, and I'm

Chapter 8
Coincidentally, the name of Ruby's lover was the same as mine. We were both named Arthur. He also looked just like I did. Three months after I left the research center, I did not manage to recall what I had forgotten. I didn't even know why I had been there in the first place. After the operation was completed, John stuffed a journal in my hands. They told me it contained something I'd written to myself before the procedure.[Never get yourself involved with Ruby ever again.]Hence, when I saw Ruby, I felt an innate disgust and hatred toward her. I did not know her. However, everyone said that I should know her. There were videos of her proposing to me 99 times three years ago online. We even had a large fanbase shipping us and claiming that Ruby was a passionate lover. Everything seemed to be packaged nicely with a bow on top. Ruby appeared before me. She got down on one knee. "Arthur, come home with me. I've rebuilt our marital home, and it's very clean."
