“My Luna, I'm so sorry to say this……” the pack’s doctor trailed, his face completely clasped with something lying between sorrow and sympathy, “You can no longer give birth again, your womb has been damaged.” What?! My lips parted in utter shock as his words struck through my mind. Time seemed to come to a halt and it felt like the room was rolling with the doctor's shocking words resonating in the background. Or maybe I was the one hearing another thing or maybe this was just a nightmare. “My Luna, are you even listening to me at all?” The doctor snapped me out of my thoughts, evidence that this was real. The reality of what was unfolding to me clasped my mind as I gazed deep into the doctor's eyes, causing fear to lay deep into my stomach as tears began to stream down my eyes. “This can't be happening. No!!” A sharp cry tore from my mouth. I was supposed to be discharged from the hospital today and I came to ask him when I could start having a child again because, for the sixth time, my baby died in my womb. I cleaned the tears in my face with my hands, bobbing my head slowly, trying to understand my fate. “Is this what I'm supposed to hear after six years of trying for a child? How can you be so cruel? I goddamn eat good food, take my medication properly and why the hell…” “Elena,” He interjected, muttering softly to me. “You can't do this to me, Doctor James. You should know that I will be thrown out of the pack house if I don't provide an heir soon and another woman is going to replace me,” I muttered,my heart pounding heavily in me. “James, please,” I begged, “I'm damn sure that there must have been some mistake somewhere. My womb can't be damaged. I don't want another woman to replace me. So,please check it again.” Doctor James sighed heavily, putting his hands on my shoulder as though consoling me as tears began blurring my vision. “Let's leave protocols aside, considering how close you are to me,I need to tell you something important.” He pulled down his glasses and deepened his gaze on me. “Ella, I don't think anyone else is going to tell You the truth if I don't. Please, can you look at your back and tell me what you see.” With a shivering head, I took a look at my back and returned my gaze back to him. “There's no one there. Nothing.” Immediately I said those words, my stomach twisted in pain and the tears that built in my eyes streamed down my face. “Ella, honestly, there's no one. You are striving hard to provide an heir to a pack that doesn't give a damn about you. Since you have been admitted to the hospital here, has anyone visited you to ask about your health?” He asked. “No. Not one. Not even your parents. You are wounding yourself for the pack that doesn't care about you.” That moment, my heart throbbed with pain,so bad that it felt like I was about to claw its way out. Cleaning off the tears on my face, I swallowed hard the lump that firmed in my throat. “Even if everyone despises me, at least my husband, Ryder does no..” My word trailed off because I knew deeply that everything I said was a total lie. The idea that Ryder loves me was nothing but a big lie. One would think my life was going to be absolutely good being the daughter of a Lycan king. But it was far from that. I was powerless, worthless, weak, unlike other Lycans. There wasn't any difference between me and the humans which caused me to be hated by everyone including my father who would always eye me with frustration and annoyance. My father was so annoyed and disappointed in me that he finds it difficult to call me his daughter, thereby hiding my identity.. Before, my mum would always be the one who would protecting me from my father's hurting and cruel words, but ever since my mother died, my life went from fry pan to fire. My life was totally set ablaze when my father married another woman few years after my mum's death as if he had been praying for her death. And ever since my father had brought my stepmother inside the pack house, I have been completely neglected and discarded, and every day, I would see my father choose his stepdaughter, Dylan over me because she was everything that he wanted. He felt she was the one who carried his true blood. Everything that I owned or belonged to me,including my inheritance was all given to my stepsister who would always torment me alongside my stepmother. When my father got weary of seeing me around him, he forced me into a marriage of which I objected to at first but on seeing that the marriage was with with the person I have long had crush on, Alpha Ryder, I accepted immediately, with the thought that he was going to renew my life positively and give me the love that my life hungered for. But, I had no idea that that was the starting of my horror. In the first place, Ryder pretended to have loved me,causing me to hand over the only inheritance that my mother and my wealthy late grandparents had left for me. Most times,he would stop me from working and would tell me that my only responsibility is to serve as a Luna. I never expected him to eventually subject my life to emotional and psychological abuse. Despite all this I still clung to the hope that maybe one day, he would change. Maybe he was going to return that love to me. I shot to my feet, waved my head sideways, trying to suppress the gravity of the pain. “ Ryder had gone for a mission and that is why he isn't here . He loves me deeply and that is all that matters.” I tried avoiding looking at James who was gazing at me with concern. “And concerning my womb that you claimed to have been damaged…..” “This is true,” James interjected. Those words pierced my heart painfully and tears built in my eyelids again, threatening to cascade down my face. “Please, can you keep this a secret for me? I mean, don't let Ryder know about my damaged womb.” I left the Royal infirmary, heading home. All my drive home was filled with tears cascading down my cheeks. The fact that I won't give birth again felt very suffocating. When I arrived at my house, I greeted the servants while forcing a smile on my face. This was how I've been living, masking my sorrow with a smile. And then I noticed something in the reaction and the facial expression of the servants. They looked shocked upon my arrival. Or were they not even expecting me to come back home after I've been at the hospital for three weeks. Maybe I was just too observant. I opened the door, striding towards the entrance way, slipping off my heels and at the same time thinking of ways to challenge Ryder the exact reason he didn't even bother to visit or even pick my calls or reply to my messages in a way that wouldn't make him angry at him. The other time I asked to know his whereabouts and the reason he had come late, he threw a glass up at me in which it splitted on the floor. Broken particles of the glass pierced through my legs,, causing blood to gush out. “I'm just going to talk to him,” I said to myself as I climbed the stairs to our room. “ I will just ask him in a calm and sweet wa…..” My voice trailed off and I halted in my tracks pwhen I began to hear a distressing sound. Sound? Did I just hear someone moan? Dread clasped my mind that very moment and I shook my hand into my hair before a graceless laughter tore out of my mouth. “Ryder might be harsh and cruel against me. But chest? No, he can't do that.” I soothed myself but the more steps I took forward, the more the belief I clung to shatter as the moan intensified. My heart was pulsating with a strong beat that I almost hear them as I stood before the door of our bedroom. Beads of sweat trickled down my forehead as I gulped down the lump that formed in my throat, nervousness slipping at my spine. With muttered courage, I pushed the door open and it seemed like my breathing stopped as my gaze fell on Ryder in bed with another woman. The woman sat in his laps , stradlling him, her breasts bouncing with every up and down motion she made. He clutched her hair and drew her closer to his face and kissed fiercly. For some seconds, I stood in that spot without moving and it felt like one of the nightmares I feared to would come to reality. When Ryder pulled the woman's hair behind her neck, my body stiffened as shock coursed through my body. I couldn't believe my eyes. In fact, I had to rub my eyes to be sure of who I saw. It was Dylan, my stepsister. Rage surged through me that very moment and all the anger that I had hidden all these years flared within me as I screamed out. “What the hell is going on here?!!!” Both of them glanced to my direction at once, shock clapsing their faces. Dylan screamed as she slithered off from Ryder, covering herself with the bedsheets, with Ryder gazing at me with shock written all over the line of his face. “You aren't supp-pposed to be back…….wh-what are you doing here,” he stammered, and tears filled my eyelids, making everything blur around me. Immediately, a strange level of rage coursed through me that I folded my hands into fists, clenching my jaw. I reached for my phone in my bag and began to record a video of them as Dylan rushed towards me and Ryder who was already standing before me. “Elena, what are you doing? What are you doing with the phone?” “I'm showing the world the faces of the two betrayers. Dylan, your wedding is tomorrow and everyone is going to see how shameless you and Ryder are. And you, Ryder,” I gestured at him, “I was at the hospital with my life on the line. You didn't come to visit me. You didn't even pick my calls neither did you reply message but your are here fucking nobody else but my stepsister!!!!” Dylan cried. “Elena, please, you can't do this to me. You can't ruin my wedding tomorrow, please. We can talk this out.” And instead of remorse, the reaction on Ryder's face shocked me. “Give me that phone now!!!” His voice growled against me. “Never!!” I resisted the fear his strong voice caused me. Before now,I would have given up but, right now, I'm done yielding to his wants. Without hesitation, I turned to leave. Walking down the steps, I noticed someone following me from behind and before I knew what was happening, Ryder grabbed a heavy glass picture frame of us together on her wedding day from the hallway wall. It was one of those large framed photographs with thick glass, solid wood backing, the kind that carried real weight. Before I could react, he smashed it down on my head, causing blood to gush out profusely from my head. That moment, I felt pain crack through me and my sight began to go blurry. Like that wasn't enough, Dylan rushed to me, her hands were shaking but her eyes were laced with something deadly. And before I knew what was happening she, too, grabbed another large glass-framed photograph of me and Ryder, this one was more heavier, and she lifted it without hesitation. “Elena, this is your fault!” she screamed. Then, she smashed it against my head, the same point that Ryder had smashed me, causing more blood to gush out of my head. Everything went blank around me and before I knew what was happening, my eyelids shut close and I stumbled to the floor. It was time. Everything was set according to their plans. Amor's army-trained men had scouted the location with the help of that same tiny, undetectable drone and the men were able to locate important spots and entry into the building. The building was a fancy bungalow situated somewhere along the borders of the city, quite far from the main town. The surrounding was deserted and only few abandoned and half demolished buildings were in sight. Alexander drove there with the evidence and alone as Sophia had demanded and was allowed in through the gate by Sophia's armed men. He was directed on where to part his convertible, which he did and them came down. The armed men searched him thoroughly to be sure he wasn't with any arms, wires of any sort, or cameras and then, they escorted him into the house and led him past the empty room, which was supposed to be the living room, through a corridor and into another room, where Sophia and her father were seated on two dinning chairs at the rou
The room was silent. It had been that way for about three hours. Everyone was present in Bella's living room waiting for Sophia's call. Jeremy has been gone for more than twelve hours and with no where to start, they were earnestly waiting for the kidnapper to call and place their demands."Why won't she call already?" Bella was angry and getting frustrated. She just paced round the living room."I sware, if anything happens to me son, I'll hunt Sophia down" She cursed angrily."Darling, relax" Amor spoke to her from the sofa where she sat. "That woman will not hurt Jeremy since she wants to get Invicta. Maybe she is trying to make a full proof plan before calling. Let's wait for her call""That's what I am waiting for" Bella said and continued pacing."Why don't you sir down?" Amor asked her"I'm okay this way" Bella replied.Time was gradually passing by and Sophia had not still called. Alexander was seriously holding in his anger. A glance at him and one could see his bloody eyes a
Sophia and her father made the plans for Jeremy's abduction that night before Sophia returned home. According to their plan, they would spend the next day, monitoring every move Bella and her son would make and then the day after, Jeremy would be successfully abducted. This was for them to be very sure before launching any attack and endangering themselves. Sophia said nothing to Alexander after she returned home that night. Alexander also ignored her presence. Things seemed to be drawing to the end. Alexander could see a life without the troubles of Sophia and her father drawing near and Sophia could see the whole of Invicta becoming hers. Two antagonizing plans of which only one can emerge victorious. Alexander held onto the faith that good will always triumph over evil and he strongly believed so.Alexander was thinking, as he laid on the bed. He had not told his parents about what was going on and he knew that he had to tell them. The problem was how to tell them without Sophia's
Amor's men were able to crack the accounts and they sent all the findings to Amor. It was during the weekend get together for the family, with Christine that Amor revealed the findings. The Michaels were in fact, the dangerous drug cartel terrorising the country. That was how they were able to sustain their dead empire. Bella was shocked and immediately forwarded the message to Alexander.*****The Grandes were having dinner when Alexander's phone chimed and he picked up his phone to read the message Bella had sent him. Sophia had her suspicious eyes on him. With the shocked expression that lasted on his face for a split second, Sophia knew that he was up to something. That message definitely had something to do with her. She was sensitive to remove her gaze from Alexander the very moment he wanted to look at her, just after he had finished reading the message. That gesture confirmed her suspicion. Alexander had something against her and she was immediately anxious. The paperwork was

Bella was stunned by what she was hearing. Her mother was plagued with cervical cancer and was near her death. Tears rolled down her eyes. Alexander was relaxing in his favourite place, the garden, with some refreshments. The evening was cool and enticing. As he relaxed, he thought of Bella once again, the times they had spent in the garden. It was very beautiful, every moment he had spent with her. He would have her again, he assured
