ログインTHE CONFRONTATION
I couldn’t keep running from it. For weeks I had avoided direct conflict, focusing on Silverline and my new apartment, but Sophia’s shadow kept reaching into every part of my life. The anonymous messages, the lost investors, the constant rumors it had to stop. I was done being the silent victim.
I sent her a single text from my small studio apartment that evening.
Evelyn: Meet me tomorrow at 3 PM at the café on Maple and 7th. Come alone. We need to talk.
She replied almost immediately.
Sophia: I’ll be there.
The next day, I arrived early and chose a quiet corner table at the small, neutral café far from both Harrison Group and Silverline. I ordered a coffee and waited, my hands steady despite the knot in my stomach.
Sophia arrived exactly on time, elegant as always in a cream coat and perfectly styled hair. She spotted me and walked over, a polite smile on her face.
“Evelyn,” she said, sitting down across from me. “This is unexpected. What’s this about?
I looked her straight in the eyes. “I’ve left Adrian. I’ve moved out. I’m done with the games, Sophia. Stop using his name to sabotage me at Silverline. Stop spreading rumors. Stop sending messages. Leave me alone.
Sophia raised an eyebrow, her expression calm. “Leave you alone? I’m not doing anything to you, Evelyn. The rumors are just office gossip. People talk. I can’t control what they say
“You can,” I said firmly. “You’re the one feeding them. You’re the one calling my investors and warning them about ‘Harrison drama.’ You showed me the ultrasound photos. You made sure everyone thinks Adrian is the father. I’ve left him. I’ve walked away. So stop. Whatever you want from him, take it. Just stay away from me and my new life.
Sophia leaned back slightly, studying me. For a moment, something calculating flickered in her eyes. Then she sighed softly.
“You really did leave him,” she said, almost surprised. “I didn’t think you had it in you.”
“I did,” I replied. “And I’m not coming back. So whatever game you’re playing, it doesn’t involve me anymore. Stop trying to destroy Silverline. Stop using Adrian’s authority to blacklist me. If you want him, he’s yours. Just leave me out of it.
Sophia was quiet for a long moment. She stirred her coffee slowly, then looked up.
“Fine,” she said. “If you’ve truly walked away and you’re not going to fight for him, then I have no reason to keep involving you. I’ll stop the calls. I’ll stop the rumors about you specifically. You stay out of my way, and I’ll stay out of yours
I searched her face for any sign of deception. “Do you mean that?
Sophia smiled faintly. “I’m not interested in chasing someone who’s already gone. You’ve made your choice. I’ll make mine. Consider this the end of our… complications.
I nodded slowly. “Good. Then we’re done here.
I stood up, leaving money for my coffee. As I turned to leave, Sophia spoke one last time.
“Evelyn,” she said softly. “For what it’s worth… you were never the problem. You were just… in the way.
I didn’t respond. I walked out of the café without looking back.
The relief I felt was immediate but fragile. For the first time in months, I felt like I had taken control. I drove back to my small apartment, the city lights blurring past my windows. I had left Adrian. I had confronted Sophia. I was building something new at Silverline with Ryan’s support.
But as I unlocked the door to my studio, my phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number.
Unknown: You think walking away makes you safe? How naïve.
I stared at the screen, heart sinking. The message wasn’t from Sophia.
It was from someone else. The game wasn’t over. It had only changed players.
THE BIG DAYThe conference hall buzzed with energy as I stepped inside. My heart was pounding, but I kept my head high. Today was the big presentation for the Global Dynamics contract. Silverline versus Harrison Group. I had spent weeks preparing for this moment, and I wasn’t going to let nerves ruin it.I found our assigned table near the front. Ethan was already there, looking nervous but determined. Ryan arrived shortly after, giving me an encouraging smile.“You’ve got this,” he said quietly. “Just show them what we’ve built.”I nodded. “I will.”Across the room, I saw the Harrison Group team. Sophia stood confidently at their table, reviewing notes. Adrian was beside her, tall and imposing in his tailored suit. He scanned the room with sharp eyes, clearly looking for someone. He didn’t know I was here. He didn’t know I was the one behind Silverline’s strategy. The moderator called the session to order. Harrison Group presented first.Sophia walked to the stage with smooth confide
The proposal I was at my desk in the Silverline loft when the email came in. My heart beat a little faster as I clicked it open. Global Dynamics had sent their initial feedback on the proposals. The subject line was clear: Proposal Status Update.I read the first few lines and felt the air leave my lungs.Silverline Technologies Proposal Not Selected for Advancement. They thanked us for our submission and praised some aspects of our innovation, but ultimately said we lacked the proven scale and long-term reliability they required for a contract of this size. Harrison Group’s proposal had been accepted and moved to the next stage.I sat back in my chair, staring at the screen. The words blurred for a second. We had poured so much into this. Late nights, revisions, every idea I could pull together. And it wasn’t enough.Ethan walked over, his face already telling me he had seen it too.“Rejected,” he said quietly, sitting on the edge of my desk. “Harrison Group advanced. They cited our
BEHIND CLOSED DOORSVictor Harrison’s private office felt like a different world. The heavy oak desk, the deep leather chairs, and the panoramic view of the city made it clear this was where real power lived. He sat behind the desk like he owned every inch of the building because in many ways, he still did.Sophia sat across from him, legs crossed elegantly, her posture perfect. She had come the moment he called.Victor didn’t waste time on pleasantries. “Have you handled Evelyn?”Sophia met his gaze steadily. “I called her earlier today. I advised her to back out of the Global Dynamics contract. I told her it would be smarter for everyone if she stepped aside quietly.”Victor leaned forward slightly, his sharp eyes narrowing. “And what did she say?”“She refused,” Sophia replied, a small smile playing on her lips. “She was very certain. She said she’s not backing out and she’s ready for anything that comes that she doesn't care and knows no one is going to talk her out of this, not e
EYES EVERYWHEREAdrian sat behind his desk, the city skyline stretching out behind him like a kingdom he was struggling to hold together. The meeting with his father still burned in his chest. He picked up the phone and dialed Sophia’s extension.“Come to my office,” he said when she answered. “Now.”A few minutes later, Sophia walked in, closing the door softly behind her. She looked composed and elegant in her tailored blouse, a small smile playing on her lips as if she already knew why she had been summoned.“Adrian,” she said smoothly, taking the seat across from him. “You wanted to see me?”He leaned back in his chair, studying her carefully. “What were you discussing with my father in his office earlier? I walked in, and the conversation stopped. I want the truth.”Sophia tilted her head slightly, her expression innocent. “Just work talk, Adrian. Nothing more. We were going over the Global Dynamics contract on how to make sure we win it, the best strategies to use, and the weakn
I would really appreciate an answer from the both of you, because I know you father he said you don't just call someone to your office “Father,” he said, voice tight. “What really brought you here today? You held a meeting with the team without even discussing it with me first. And what is Sophia doing in your office?”Victor looked up from behind his desk, his expression cold and unyielding. Sophia sat across from him, composed and quiet.Victor leaned back in his chair. “I came because I heard we’re at risk of losing the Global Dynamics contract to some nobody startup. I wanted to make sure the message was clear. We do not lose to dying companies. It’s a shame on the Harrison name.”Adrian stepped further into the room, closing the door behind him. “And you needed Sophia here for that? You bypassed me completely.”Victor’s eyes narrowed. “I see you’ve been less than capable or steady these past weeks, Adrian. Someone has to step in and fix things. This is not the man I raised you t
THE CHAIRMAN'S ARRIVALThe morning at Harrison Group started like any other until Victor Harrison walked through the front doors.People noticed immediately. Heads turned. Whispers rippled across the open floors.“Is that the Chairman?”“He hasn’t come in person in months. What’s going on?”“Something big must be happening.”Victor moved with the same commanding stride he’d always had, tall, sharp-eyed, dressed in a perfectly tailored dark suit that made everyone around him straighten up without thinking. He didn’t smile. He didn’t greet anyone. He simply walked toward the executive elevators like the entire building still belonged to him. Because in many ways, it did.Adrian was in his office reviewing the latest Global Dynamics bid when his assistant knocked urgently.“Sir, your father is here. He wants an immediate meeting with the senior team in the main boardroom.”Adrian’s jaw tightened. He closed the file on his desk. “Tell everyone to be there in ten minutes.”When he entered
