After taking a shower and changing into the dress Celia had picked, I grabbed my purse from the dresser and headed out of my room.

I was halfway down the stairs when I heard laughter. Liam’s shrieking giggles and Liana shouting, “No, Daddy! That’s cheating!” followed by Alex’s low chuckle.

A smile automatically slipped onto my face.

Liam saw me first. He turned on the couch, his eyes widening as he gawked. “Whoa… Mummy, you look so pretty.”

Alex’s head followed our son’s gaze, and when his eyes landed on me, he froze.

He stood slowly, almost like he’d forgotten how to move.

“You look…” He blinked. “Splendid.”

“Thanks,” I said, avoiding his gaze when it lingered too long.

The silence stretched. I shifted on my feet, then glared at him lightly. “Stop staring.”

He didn’t even pretend to look ashamed. “Can’t help it.”

Before I could respond, Liana perked up. “Where are you going, Mummy?”

I smiled at her. “Out. I said I would be going out with Uncle Faano, remember?”
