The Next Day.

The wind gently swayed the curtains, shadows danced across the room, and a warm glow filled the hospital ward.

A sliver of sunlight filtered through the gap in the curtains, landing softly on the eyelids of the man lying in bed.

Diego’s eyelids fluttered, and after a moment, he slowly opened his eyes.

A flash of confusion passed through his dark pupils before he quickly turned his face to the side.

He saw the person sleeping by his hand, her lashes casting faint shadows. Her fair side profile was flawless.

His expression gradually softened. He lifted his hand and gently brushed her forehead, slowly moving downward.

“Of course, please wait a moment. Divine Doctor, please rest here for now. I’ll come over right after I make the arrangements.”Dr. Lane stood up and nodded.Briella had no objections and accepted readily.Dr. Lane closed the door. Just before it shut completely, he glanced at the person sitting on the sofa. He couldn’t see the face clearly, but the aura was cold and distant, hard to approach. For a moment, it felt eerily like another powerful figure.Dr. Lane was dazed for a second, then chuckled to himself. He was definitely getting old. How could that be?It must be a coincidence. After Dr. Lane left, Riley glanced at Briella’s disguise and was speechless. “Not to criticize, but where did you even get this outfit? Doing a magic trick or something?”“…I prepared it long ago,” Briella said as she removed her mask. She wasn’t used to wearing it&

When she saw Briella standing not far away, her eyes lit up.She ran over and hugged her.“Briella, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other!”Briella closed her eyes helplessly and patted her, “Alright, alright, it hasn’t even been a year. Just six months. Why are you still acting like a kid?”Riley let go and glared at her. “You know it’s been six months? And still never came to see me! Now that you need something, then you remember me?”Then she narrowed her eyes at her. “Go on, tell me. I’m curious—what kind of patient would make you mobilize your entire team?”Briella raised an eyebrow.Half a year apart and her temper had grown.“Let’s go up first. We’ll talk on th

Audrey shot up from her seat in a panic. “B… Briella, I just wanted to…”‘Damn it. Abel didn’t warn me! So unreliable!’“All right, Audrey, please step out for a moment,” Briella said, raising her hand. Her expression was distant and cold.“Okay.” Audrey cast her a cautious glance. Seeing that Briella wasn’t visibly angry, she nodded and quietly exited. The door closed behind her.Briella walked straight to the chair and sat down.Though her pale profile looked calm, a trace of restrained anger lingered. She propped her chin up with one hand. “Go on, why aren’t you talking anymore?”She was smiling, but that smile sent a chill down anyone’s spine.“Briella, once I’m healed… I’ll tell you everything, okay?” Diego lifted his chin slightly and reached out to touch her face. But jus

“You're seriously annoying. Why are you following me again? I'm only tolerating you because of Briella—don’t push your luck. You’d better stay far away from me!” Audrey flicked on her car’s signal and pulled over to the side of the road. She opened the door and stepped out, glaring with visible irritation at the car trailing behind her.The car behind stopped as well.Philip tightened his grip on the steering wheel. His usual laid-back demeanor was replaced with rare seriousness. He got out and stared at her, walking forward step by step. There was something unreadable in his eyes.“Moonbeam…”“Enough!” Audrey cut him off sharply. “What Moonbeam? I told you—I’m not her. My name is Audrey!”There was a flicker of anger in her eyes. She didn’t know why, but she absolutely loathed that nickname.Moonbeam—it stirr

“Is that so?”Briella chuckled softly, her thumb gently pressing against her index finger. “Tell me, would you dare say that in front of Brie?”“What’s there to be afraid of? Who knows, once Brie sees my skills, she might stop calling me ‘big bro’ altogether!”PhantomRoot switched his sitting posture, crossing one leg over the other smugly.Briella’s eyes glinted. “Oh? Then what should she call you?”“Call me Boss, straight up!” PhantomRoot said loudly, even slapping his laptop in excitement.Leaning against the corner wall in the corridor, Briella propped her chin on one hand, shifted her phone slightly, and tapped the recording button. As she listened, she nodded. “What did you say just now? I didn’t quite catch that—say it again?”“Sure! Don’t underestimate me!” PhantomRoot repeated proudly.
