Understanding what a coven is will help you understand how they operate. Each coven has a mascot. Animals like a black bat, cat or even a crow. No two covens have the same animal that represents them. These animals are believed to be the souls of their ancestors. Coming back to help guide them in their future needs.

The roles of each member of a coven are fairly unique to that coven. However, there is still a monarchy that is in place. A king and/or queen are at the top of the coven. However, the privilege of being king or queen is not passed down by being the firstborn, and in some cases, not even in the same genetic bloodline. They believe the spirit animal is in charge of picking who will be responsible for taking over the throne when ready.
