Chapter 160

Author: Bodhi Blossom
Rita's sudden appearance and audacious words left Daphne confused and enraged. The latter stormed up to Rita and seethed, "Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you come in here and insult me?"

Rita was young, beautiful, and boasted an excellent figure. Daphne indeed had nothing on her.

Smoothly taking off her shades, Rita flashed Daphne a wry smile and said, "It's fine if you don't know me. I'm already very well acquainted with your husband anyway."

She smugly stroked the swell of her tummy and added, "Oh, I forgot to mention just how much your husband cares about the baby I'm carrying."

They hadn't noticed it earlier, but now, Daphne and the others finally got a good look at Rita's baby bump. Was Rita implying that Hugh was the baby's father?

Any composure Daphne had tried to maintain crumbled away. Her eyes widened incredulously as she snapped, "No, you're lying! Hugh would never betray me! He couldn't possibly be fooling around with another woman behind my back!"

  • Opening My Eyes to Reality   Chapter 185

The sea was calm, with not a ripple in sight. A shipment was expected at the port today, and the receiving crew had arrived an hour earlier to wait for its arrival. Not long after, a massive cargo ship came into view. Accompanied by the growing rumble of its turbines, it slowly pulled into the dock.Shirtless workers went on board and off again, hauling the goods. The blazing sun scorched their skin, making it sting. They casually grabbed the towels draped around their necks and wiped the sweat off their faces, then they continued unloading. After much effort, several tons of goods were finally offloaded onto the dock. Just then, a few workers who were responsible for the daily operations of the port walked over. "Routine inspection. Open them up," one of them said. Cory Ventino, the man who was here to collect the cargo, frowned. What was going on? Hadn't they already taken care of all the personnel working there? Why was there a sudden routine inspection? Had something gon

Natalie set her fork down and walked over to stand behind Susan. She carefully studied the new artwork, and the fire in her chest burned even hotter. A faint smile played on her lips, but it was a cold and unfeeling one—the kind that foretold the chaos to come."It sounds foreboding, doesn't it?"That was exactly what Susan thought, but she stopped herself from saying it out loud. Frankly, the painting gave her chills.Natalie explained, "This is a gift for someone."That confused Susan even more. Natalie was going to give such an eerie painting as a gift? She turned to Natalie, a puzzled expression coloring her face.Natalie, however, didn't elaborate. She merely gave a soft smile and said to Susan, "The fruit is very sweet, and the cupcake is delicious."That made Susan snap out of her stupor. She was thrilled to hear Natalie's praise, and the smile on her face stretched from ear to ear. "I'm glad you like them. Oh, and why hasn't Shane been coming by lately? How about I ma

Regret suddenly filled Rowan. He shouldn't have said anything to her earlier. But he did have his own selfish reasons. He wanted Natalie to hate Jason more—even if just a little. Suddenly, Natalie felt his strong fingers press gently between her brows. She immediately turned to look at him. His touch was as cool as the rest of his body, and it carried that familiar, unique scent of sandalwood. And in those deep eyes of his, she could see a reflection of herself. That was when she heard him say, "Natalie, don't frown."He wanted to smooth her furrowed brows, and he didn't want to see her so worried about him. There was a burning intensity in his eyes, and underneath it hid emotions too complicated to read. "Jason isn't worth your anger, and I'm not worth your guilt. Don't forget—we're allies. I can't have you charging headfirst into battle all the time."Rowan withdrew his hand and straightened up. All traces of intimacy vanished in an instant. Natalie moved her lips, wanting

"You're hurt?" Natalie asked. It was only then that Rowan noticed the cut on the back of his hand. It must've happened earlier, when they had suddenly accelerated. The momentum had caused him to slam into the flowers, and one of the stems had probably sliced his skin. He'd been so bothered by the ruined bouquet that he hadn't even noticed the cut. "It's nothing. Just a scratch," Rowan answered nonchalantly.Compared to the nearly fatal gunshot wound from before, that was indeed a small injury. Still, it wouldn't be smart to leave a fresh, still-bleeding wound untreated.Rowan continued to study the menu and place their order, while Natalie got to her feet. "I'll be right back.""Okay."A few minutes later, she returned with a plastic bag in her hand. Rowan watched as she sat in the empty seat next to him and slowly opened it. Inside were gauze, a tube of antiseptic, and a pack of cotton swabs. As it turned out, she had gone to buy those supplies when she stepped out earlier.

Traffic near Whittler Street was always terrible. Natalie invariably encountered a mind-numbing level of congestion whenever she took that road."I get it. There's no rush anyway, so take your time," she said. Her words helped ease the frustration Rowan was feeling while stuck in traffic. Holding his phone, he chuckled. "That's very understanding of you."Leaning back into the soft seat, Natalie stared out at the neon city lights. "That's just how I am. You just don't know me very well, Mr. Mattel."Didn't know her? Oh, he knew her. In fact, he knew her better than he knew himself.Rowan joked, "I guess I'll have to spend more time with you in the future, Ms. Sutton, to get to know you more thoroughly."Instantly, Natalie's cheeks flushed crimson, and she fell silent. Thoroughly? How "thoroughly" exactly? It wasn't until a few beats later that Rowan realized his choice of words might have been a little inappropriate, and he instinctively wanted to explain. But Landon, who was

The pressure around her neck was suffocating. Sienna's panic kicked in hard as she clawed at Jason's hand. Her thick glasses slipped from her face and clattered to the ground. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. "Sienna, even now, you have the audacity to push me into hurting Natalie? How dare you?" Her face had turned a sickly shade from the lack of oxygen. She thrashed weakly, choking out. "L-Let… go…"Jason's eyes were cold. His grip tightened as he leaned in, each word biting like steel. "Yes, I want Natalie. But I won't let you use me like some pawn. If I really did what you said, she'd only hate me more. You think she'd ever want to spend her life with me, then?" He scoffed, furious. "That would be the end of everything."Sienna's hands, once frantically pounding at his arms, began to go limp—her strength draining fast. And still, he didn't let go. "Why didn't I see how twisted your heart really is before? If not for you, Natalie and I wouldn't have ended up like
