“That is simple,” Kyle said. “Haven, you aren’t taking over everything like you want to. And Mack, she won’t ever stop.”
“Wonderful,” Mack said under his breath.
“It is how she shows her affection for people,” Kyle said with a laugh. “I am guessing you too aren’t just friends anymore, and that is fine. I will enjoy watching this more than the others will, but the fact is we have to be very careful. The cameras that are up outside will be the first layer of security for the time being.”
“Then what?&
Haven looked at Mack as she neared the back room, and he knew something was going on in her brain. She had a look of determination that he hadn’t seen on anyone since he knew her in college, and one of the girls had told her that she was nothing but a pet project for the professors. Haven had proven that even six years younger, she could do anything that someone older could do. The one thing the girl had insinuated was that Haven couldn’t turn the eyes of the men around her. Mack had to laugh at that one. He had become near obsessed with her by then. The thought of another man with her or a boy at that point who was closer to her age was enough to make him growl. She had not been interested, though, and that helped ease his brain and thoughts. He had been sure that she would have turned in on herself like she was a
The bed was comfortable even though it was smaller than most he had been on in the past few years. It reminded him of the small rack type beds they had in the military. Having her so close to him was enough to keep his mind off much of everything else. Right now, he wanted to relish in the thoughts that he was having of all the things he wanted to do to and with her. Most of all, he wanted her to know she was it for him. This was it, and if it didn’t work out between them, he would remain alone with these memories of this time. It was better than a dream. Mack had been left with many of those of the years though he could never share them with anyone else. Haven was the only woman he could never forget. The hurt and pain that her disappear
Mack knew she was just there thinking the rest of the afternoon. Knowing that she was one to never talk until someone talked to her. She was the one who waited to voice her opinion on anything. She didn’t believe that she was really worth the fuss she often found that she was on the receiving end of. Mack wanted her to know that she was and everything that she had in life was because of her and the things she did. Though he knew that would talk time. She was warming up to the idea. He also knew her and how to get her to share her feelings and thoughts with him without much effort. That was one of the best things he could remember about her. All it would take was a few words here or there. A comment of teasing once in a while, and he would
She woke with a start and didn’t know why she was wide awake. She listened in the darkness and heard his soft breathing behind her as she had been somewhat pushed into the wall. She couldn’t think of the reason why she was so awake, though. He was not restless, nor were there any noises in the house or any alerts going off from the cameras. Nothing seemed to be out of place except for the man in the back of her. She was still getting used to the idea of him being there in her life. She didn’t know if he wanted this to last like she hoped though he was certainly acting like it. She didn’t know what the future held for either of them, but she would enjoy this time with him for everything it was worth.
The two followed the same routine the next day though they both were getting tired of being in the smaller room. Haven was starting to lose her calm and collected self. She wanted to do something that would end this once and for all. She looked at Mack, who was waiting for a phone call from the other department on some information. He understood better than most about the statement, hurry up and wait. She did not. “I want to do something.” She said as he looked at him.“Oh, really like what?” he asked with his eyebrow raised and a grin taking over his face.
Mack had the beginning of the plan in his head. He was going to do this without getting her involved. The major players were all on board except her. The one who didn’t know what was going on all around her. She could make this very difficult. “I want to go back to work.” He said as he laughed as his fingers got caught up in her hair as he was combing through it.“I can see that.” Haven said as she knew that he was a planner, and he liked seeing things through to the end. She had watched him in the past two days, and he hadn’t changed at all since the days he would schedule out everything, and he even tried to get her to have a
She looked at him, “Well, then it is our private joke.” She smiled at him. “Mack, I couldn’t imagine my life without you in it then or now.”“Good because when this is over, I am showing off the fact that I got you.” Mack said as he nuzzled in closer to her, “No one would believe it that I could have someone like you.” “Stop.” She said. “You do realize I am just as flawed as you are.” “You’re better at hiding it.” He said with a chuckle. “But I know you have your faults, Haven. Th
They had no idea what it was like outside the room. She thought it might be a cold rainy day by the way she felt though she also knew that it could be just because they were trapped in the room and she wasn’t moving like she normally did. Haven knew that Mack was getting even more restless than she was. It wasn’t like either of them to want to just lay around for days on end, but there wasn’t much either of them could do. “You need to shave,” Haven said as he looked at her, and she looked away from staring at him for five minutes straight.“Why?” he asked with a chuckle.
