Mag-log inHazel POV.
I took an Uber back home, to the dorms, I ran inside, fueled with so much adrenaline, I took the dress and heels off, I can't move wearing those, I went with Alexander hoodie and a comfy black leggings, along with my running shoes, now that I was feeling like myself, I'm ready to go.
I got into my car, and drove back toward his apartment building, the alcohol effect still buzzing in the back of my head, but not strong enough to stop me.I parked my car opposite to his building, I looked around for maybe a minute before I saw it, his car, his pride and joy, parked too neatly, too confidently, too safe. Cyrus never hides the fact that he loves his car more than anyone in this world, including me, back when we were dating, remembering the one time he yelled at me for spilling coffee in his car, getting kicked out of the car even, so he could clean it.
I went to my trunk, I know I have things to help change my tiers, one of my brother's men has changed a tier for me before, and I saw him getting it from my trunk. I messed around until I found it and then found something I could use, a heavy iron rod.I took a deep breath, remembering every time he pissed me off, every time he had touched me without my permission, and finally the fact that he cheated on me the same day I had denied him to touch me in places I don't want to be touched in.
Another deep breath, and I decided, it's his car for my heart, I swung and hit, breaking his side mirrors.'What are you doing here,' his voice filled with annoyance, let me see his face now, trying to drive without both mirrors.
Something in me shifted that moment, I have never done anything like this, never taken my revenge, never went back for payback, but look at me now, payback is a bitch, and revenge is better served cold.I kept going, moving to his windshield next, hitting it as hard as I could, the glass didn't break, so I hit it again and again, until it gave, shattering like my broken heart. Next, I kept hitting with what's left of my power until I couldn't anymore, I dropped the rod on the ground, finally coming back to my senses, the car light was turning on and off, the alarm blaring through the night, telling the whole neighbourhood that I'm here and look what I have done.
I took a step back, thinking of what to do next? Do I run? Do I stay and wait until Cyrus comes out and face him? Tell him it's me?
I was lost, for a moment, but the red and blue lights coming toward me made the decision for me, I took off running, if I end up in jail, my brother is going to have my head on a stick. I heard them coming closer, and I ran faster, good thing I changed from my club clothes, and the heels, I kept on running, taking a left, hoping they wouldn't know it's me, or find me.But I heard them, they were right behind me, I was dead, if they killed me, it would be a million times easier than what my brother would do.
"Freeze, hands in the air," they yelled from behind me, I looked for anywhere to go, to hide, but sadly, there was no place for me to go, I was stuck. "Freeze," they yell again, and I do as they say, putting my hand up in the air."On your knees," he says and I shook my head no.
"On your knees," the officer yells again, and I shake my head again. The officer came closer, pulling my hands down, pulling them behind my back, putting handcuffs on me, and that was my cue to start crying. "You have a right to remain silent, anything you say will be used against you in court. You have the right to consult with a lawyer, if you can't afford it, one will be provided by the state."I was pushed in the back of their car and driven off toward my doom I kept on crying the whole way there, we got into their station, I was processed in. My phone, earrings, belt, and shoelaces were taken away from me. My finger prints taken, and finally I was sitting waiting for my name to be called.
"Hazel Romano," my name was being called, and I went up, then I was taken to take with a detective.
"Hazel, I'm detective Mark, and I'll be reviewing your case," he says. "Okay," I mumble. "Now tell me what happened?" he asks me. "I...Uhh..." I say. "You knew him? The owner of the car? My officers said that he's a nightmare to deal with," he says and I just nod."Ex?" he asks me.
"He cheated on me," I confess. "And so you went and broke his car, revenge, fair I say, but not legal," he says, and I felt like I was digging myself a deeper hole. "I want to make a phone call," I say."You have the right to make one, here you go," he says, turning his phone toward me, and I thought of whose numbers I had memorised, Leonard, he'll skin me alive. But who else did I know, it's not my brother, but his second hand, and he's just as resourceful as my brother.
I dialled his number and waited for him to answer the phone call, praying to god he answers and I don't have to call my brother. "Yes," Alexander answers. "I need help," I say. "Where are you?" he asks. "Police station, near my campus," I say, not going into details. "Keep your mouth shut, I'll be there in ten," he says, ending the call."Done?" the detective asks, sitting back at his office, he did give me a moment of privacy.
"Yeah, someone is coming to get me," I say. "Until they get here, why don't you tell me about what happened," he says in a calm voice, trying to keep his tone friendly. "Nothing happened, I saw a police car, and I jumped," I say, denying everything. "This is your first offence. Why don't we make it go smoothly?" he asks me, and I stay quiet. "Hazel," the detective says my name with a sigh, but I kept my silence. "Fine, take her back," the detective says, and I was dragged back toward the holding cells.I took a seat there and just stayed quiet, avoiding everyone who was there with me. They tried to talk to me, to ask me what I did, how I ended up here, but I just shook my head, giving them nothing. I stayed there for god knows how long, it felt like a year, but I knew that I was there for like an hour, maybe a little bit more.
Then my name was called again, I went out, asking where I'm going next? Jail? To talk to the detective again? "You made bail," the officer taking me says, and then takes me to get my things back, I signed that I have received everything, and was ready to leave."Ready?" Alexander asks, standing all broody and dark, he's the one who came to my saving.
"Does he know?" I ask him, but he ignores me, he starts moving, and I follow him quickly, we got in his car, and I wait for him to say something. "Alexander," I say in a low voice, maybe I should've called Leo, he looked more pissed than I expected him to."Why did you do it?" he asks me.
"He cheated on me," I say, and I noticed his grip going tighter around the steering wheel, he took a deep breath, and then let it go. "Why didn't you call me?" he asks me. "I didn't think we were on that level of friendship," I say, we aren't even close, maybe when I was a child, and he used to hang around, but not since my teenage years. "If someone hurt you, you should call Leo, or me, I would have set his car on fire, print free," he says, making me gasp."You would've do that for me?" I ask, feeling my heart melt, no one has ever offered to set a car on fire for me before.
"I would," he says with a small smile. I noticed where we're going now, and how late it is, three in the morning, and we're heading toward the club. "My place is the other way," I say, meaning the dorms. "You don't really think you're getting out of this easily, right?" he says, meaning Leo."You told him?" I ask him, knowing the answer already.
"He's my friend and boss, of course, I did," he says, making me groan. "How bad do you think it is?" I ask him. "Bad enough he might be taking you over his knee," he says with a smirk. "I'm not five anymore," I object quickly. "You sure act like one," he says, chuckling.I was enjoying my time with Alexander, but the closer we got to where my doom was waiting, the more fear started to settle in the bottom of my heart. He's going to kill me.
"Will you stay? As a witness," I say, getting out of this car. "More of to clean the blood when he's done," he says, still joking with me, but both of our smiles dropped as soon as we got through the door.Hazel POV. Wear something soft, no makeup, try to come out young, well I'm only nineteen so it's not that hard to accomplish, and I was ready in no time, I joined my brother and his bestie in the kitchen. "You look good," my brother says. "Vincent said make sure to look soft and small," I answer him. "You're always young and small in my eyes, and don't forget that, all my rules still apply Hazel, this is a one-time thing, after this day, I never want to have a call from a police station telling me my little sister did anything on the wrong side of the law, I don't want you dating anyone, you're too young for that anyway," he says so calmly. "Really, since we're on the topic, I guess after today I should be free of the babysitter," I say, meaning Alexander. "You're staying his responsibility until I can trust that you won't be doing anything stupid again," he answers me. "That hurt Leo," I say, honestly. "He trusts you Hazel, he just doesn't trust the Romano blood that's in you
Hazel POV. I woke up, got ready, got my breakfast and was ready to run out of the door to get to my university, but I was stopped by my brother coming in, still dressed in yesterday's clothes, looking more exhausted than he does usually. "Hey, rough night?" I ask him, worried. "I just had a lot of things to do, but it's over now," he answers me, not bothering to hide how bad he's looking, I was worried about him, especially with Alexander still being gone. "I can stay and look after you," I say honestly, he's my brother and he's always there for me. "No, go to your school, I'll see you this evening, you have a meeting with Vincent," he says, and I look at him, confused. "Your lawyer sister, hopefully you won't need him in the future," he says, starting to walk up to his room. "You never know, brother, I might need him for my divorce," I yell teasingly. "Yeah, on my dead body you'd date anyone," he grumbles, making me laugh, I went to my driver and let him drive me to my uni.
Hazel POV. Bored, I'm literally bored, there was nothing to do, and my brother, my dearest brother, he only comes home to sleep, he promised me that during the weekend we'll do something together, he also reminded me to eat before showering, getting dressed and leaving. Alexander was nowhere to be found, did he leave the house because I came in? I didn't have any studying to do, and I was bored with reading, I wanted to do something, anything, so I called Allison, she's always up to something, either alone or with some of the girls from the dorm, being isolated is driving me insane, I'll take prison over being locked in all day. I survived childhood with some of Leo's attention, but I'm older now and he's busy, he can't just be around and take me to the park to run wild anymore. "Alli," I whined as soon as she answered the phone. "Hello to you too," she says with the same happy voice, does this girl ever feel down? "I'm bored, I'm so bored, I'm ready to kill someone, please tell
Hazel POV. After the meeting, we stayed sitting at that table for a little longer, until Marco decided he was going to enjoy the club and moved to another table, my brother made sure to tell his girls to keep an eye on Marco. I, on the other hand, wasn't offered to enjoy the club, I was dragged home to sleep by Alexander, I wanted to ask, I wanted to know more about this meeting I have just witnessed. "You saw nothing Hazel, you heard nothing, and you know nothing," Alexander states in the car, I knew my role, I knew that I heard nothing, I wasn't even there. "It was scary," I confess, my heart still beating like crazy. "It went well," Alexander says. "Well? Is that how things usually go?" I ask him curiously. "They could've been worse," he says with a shrug."I swear for a second I thought you were gonna shoot him," I say, my whole body buzzing with the adrenaline coursing through my body. "He'll remember tonight, that's enough for now," Alexander says, still driving, still c
Hazel POV. Naturally, I've picked one of the new dresses I got, opting for a black number, one of the safest choices that I have bought, along with some heels that I already owned and were broken in, so they won't be breaking my feet. I took a shower as soon as I got inside my room, I washed my hair, used some expensive conditioner and leave on as well, scrubbed my body with scented soap that left me both soft and smelling like a flower shop. For hair, I simply curled the ends after drying it, as for my face, I went with a full natural beat, I looked expensive and doll-like, I loved the effect. Thank God for YouTube and hours of free time back when I was in high school. I left my room, spraying some expensive French perfume that was a gift from Leo on last Christmas, and then I was out of my room looking for Alexander, my one hour is done.I found him sitting in the kitchen, busy on his laptop, as soon as he saw me, he looked up, I saw something different in his eyes, the way he lo
Hazel POV.I woke up to my door being knocked on, it brought me back from the dead, I was sleeping in such a deep sleep, I'm making up for last night, and all the nights that I haven't been sleeping in this house where I felt the safest. "What?" I yell out. "Wake up, it's time to go," Alexander says, and I groan in response, finally getting up from the bed, going to the bathroom, washing my face and getting ready again, putting the rest of my clothes back on.I met him back downstairs, he looked fresh and ready to go, he looked at me, I still looked like death, but he didn't care, we're going shopping first, I'm sure I can pick enough things to make up for all the messiness he's seeing. We got in his car, and he drove toward a shop, not the mall like I expected him to, but toward a specific boutique that I have never been into, even if it wasn't with Alexander, I wouldn't be thinking twice of coming into this shop; it wasn't my style."I thought we were going to the mall," I say wi
