Chapter Three.

It was there six months anniversary. The weather was bad, it was snowing and they were advised to stay at home. But he wanted to make everything special.

He had told her to get ready till eight o’clock. She knew he would take her somewhere for a nice dinner and maybe, they’ll have their special night for the first time.

She had been so happy.

But nothing turned out to be the way she thought. The next thing she knew was darkness.

He was bleeding so much and she just couldn’t stop all the blood gushing out from his head. His face was covered with blood. Her leg was burning up with the intensity of the pain, she could feel the blood drying up above her left eye, but she didn’t care. She was just trying to keep him awake.

“Jace, don’t close your eyes. Please, they are on their way. I know they are. Babe, please. Please don’t close your eyes.” She cupped his face in her hands trying to make him look at her as carefully as she could.

“Lily.” He whispered.

“Yes?” She asked.

“Don’t be sc-scared. Okay?”

“Jace, please hang in there. Okay? Everything’s going to be okay.”

“I love you.” He whispered. She nodded; her tears were soaking her face.

“I know, I love you too.” She pressed her lips to his, he closed his eyes.

She pulled away and continued telling him to hang in there.

“Jace, open your eyes. They are nearly here. Open your eyes, babe.” She shook him lightly to make him open his eyes.

"Jace?" She wrapped her arms around him wishing he would open his eyes.

But he didn’t respond but went limp in her arms.

She remembered crying and screaming. Shouting for help, she remembered tightening her arms around him as if to protect him. She remembered wishing this was all a nightmare.

She remembered trying to wake him up one last time before it all went dark.

She wiped away her tears and closed her eyes. She was missing him today. She was missing him so much that it hurt. She wanted him to be here with her. She wanted him.

Oh, how she wished she was the one who had died that night and not him.

How she wished she would have done something more. If she would have, he would have been alive.

She opened her eyes when she heard her dad call her downstairs. Dinner was ready.

The next day she found him standing beside her locker.

She approached her locker trying to ignore him because she wasn’t sure if he was there waiting for her. She opened her locker door and tried to remember what she wanted but she had no idea why she had opened her locker in the first place.

“Um. Hi.” she heard him say, so he was waiting for her.

She locked her locker and turned towards him.

“Hey.”

“How are you?” He asked. She frowned, why was he being like this it wasn’t as if they were friends or something? Why was he waiting for her beside her locker?

“I’m good.” She replied nevertheless. Because she was sweet. Because she was tired.

“I wanted to ask you if you figured out any place for us where we could work?” He got straight to the point and she nodded.

“Yes. I did. I’ll give you the address, is it okay for you to work at my place?” She asked.

He shrugged. She tried once again to find his eyes but failed again.

“Is it okay?” She asked again.

“Yes, as long as it’s okay with you.”

“Of course, it’s okay for me. It’s more comfortable for me.” He nodded.

“What time should I come at?” He asked.

“Five p.m. would be great.”

“Okay. See you, Lil.” He turned and started walking away, she frowned.

Lil?

What the actual hell? Why did he call her that?

She was super in no mood of making a new friend. She was happy with the ones she already had and they were enough for her.

And his hair irritated her, she just wanted to cut all those hairs off, or simply just brush them away from his eyes.

With a frustrated sigh, she started walking towards class. They only had one class together thank God for that, he gave her the creepy vibes, kind of.

After the most boring class on planet Earth, which was of Health and Safety, Lillian made her way outside, she wanted fresh air before the second class. Alone.

But fate wasn’t on her side today, just as she stepped outside her eyes landed on him.

Him.

“Hey, Lillian.” He spotted her instantly and stood up to greet her.

“Hey, Luke.” She was dying inside, why him of all people?

A little backstory.

Luke had a huge crush on her and asked her out last year before she started dating Jace.

Fun fact: He still liked Lillian.

“What are you doing out here? It’s cold.”

“Just wanted to get some fresh air but I’m getting late for class now.”

He let out a laugh and looked at her.

“I’m not going to do anything now, Lillian. Can’t we be friends now?’ He asked.

She closed her eyes. Why were people being like this with her? She didn’t want any more friends. She was already tired of socializing.

She was tired of living this life.

But she simply nodded. Because she was Lillian Ann Wilson.

She was a sweet girl, who lost her boyfriend last year.

She hid her feelings for way too long. And now there was no way back, nobody could see what she had turned into.

A lonely, depressed girl. Who hated life.

The girl who wanted out of this world.

“Okay. Let’s be friends, Luke.”

As the words left her mouth, she had no idea what that may bring next.
