Chapter Six.

The cold breeze touched her face, causing her to close her eyes. After a while, she took a deep breath and closed the window. She turned and gathered her dark blond hair into a ponytail while looking around her room, It was messy but she didn't care. It had been raining all night and the weather was pleasant. She had tried to skip school but her mother didn't let her do that.

She arrived home a little late today and now was waiting for him to arrive. He was going to come up with that scene he told her he would write and she was looking forward to it. She didn't know why probably because of the lack of romance in her life.

She opened her cupboard and took out a framed photo of Jace and her, she looked at it and smiled. It had been a good day at the beach. He'd tried to teach her how to surf, everything had been perfect. She shook her head and was just going to put the frame back in the cupboard when she heard a knock on her bedroom door. She placed the frame on her study table without thinking and went over to the door.

She opened the door and led him inside.

"Hi." She said, he nodded. That was weird, he was never like that.

"Are you okay?" She asked, trying to be nice to him. He nodded.

Deciding to ignore his odd behavior, as she already had too much on her mind to start with, she sat down beside him and looked at him expectantly, wishing for the thousandth time that he would brush his hair out of his eyes.

"I wrote that scene." He spoke at last. She nodded, straight to business I see.

"That's great,"

"I stayed up all night for this," He told her.

"That's even greater."

He looked at her.

"Are you okay?" She asked again.

"I'm just a little sleepy." He replied.

"Then we should just take a break for a day." She suggested.

"No, it's alright. Here." He handed her his writing register and she took it.

"I'm just resting my eyes until you read it, I'm not going to sleep so don't worry." He told her and placed his head on the study table, facing her.

"Oh, okay sure."

She started reading it, as she read through the scene she felt as if her fingers tips were going numb, she was feeling the joy radiating through her body.

It was so good.

It was so good that she wanted to cry. It was beautiful.

She couldn't believe that he had written it.

She could feel the scene coming to life right before her eyes, it was so well-defined and well written.

She finished reading and looked at him. Her eyes held admiration for him, she never thought that he'd be so good with words. She felt like she was nothing in front of him and that was a big thing to admit as a writer herself.

She wanted to appreciate him, she wanted to tell him that he did well. She felt that sudden urge to see a smile on his face, she wondered why he never smiled. Even she smiled a bit, even though it would be fake most times, but still she smiled.

She knew Jace used to love her smile, even though she wasn't over his death she still wanted to think that he was watching over her.

His hair was hiding his eyes and she couldn't control it anymore

She touched his hair lightly, she was sure he was asleep by now as he wasn't even moving.

She gently pushed his hair out of his eyes, but before she could take a second to admire how beautiful he was, he opened his eyes.

They were blue.

Ice blue.

They were beautiful.

It was as if they held magic in them. They were attracting her towards him in a way that it was hard for her to oppose the force.

It felt like those eyes held the most heartbreaking stories and scars. They were the eyes of a person who'd been through enough to last a lifetime.

His eyes were that of a broken person.

She instantly recognized that, because her eyes held the same broken look.

She forgot to withdraw her hand which was now resting on his forehead, all his hair under it.

He didn't move but kept on looking into her eyes.

She found herself looking back. She felt like if she didn't look at his eyes properly right now, she'd probably never see them again.

She wanted to make the most of this moment.

His hand traveled to his forehead where her hand was resting and he took it in his.

That didn't budge her, she was lost in his eyes, wondering what happened to him, what did he go through?

He got up and faced her, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

He leaned in and she sucked in her breath.

Was he going to do what she thought he was going to do?

She could feel his breath over her upper lip, which caused her to close her eyes.

What was she doing?

She couldn't understand that.

And why was she closing her eyes?

This wasn't right.
