Sixteen

RED

         I stepped out of my room, running a hand through my hair. My mind clouded with several thoughts. I walked into the sitting room still feeling exhausted. "Morning, Red" Kevin said, grinning at me.

"Morning" I said, avoiding his eyes. I was still quite confused about my mum's message. Whatever was her reason to be suspicious about him, I desperately wanted to figure it out.

Why and how wasn't he trustworthy? Kevin was at least thirty years older than was am and he didn'tn't seem to be the deceitful type. Or was he just really good at pretending?

"Here, sit down" he said, patting the space beside him on the couch.

Eyeing the spot, I stepped forward hesitantly.

"I don't bite, come on"

Rolling my eyes, I sat down on the couch.

"I heard you were able to discover something, yesterday" he said and I clenched my fist, putting on an expressionless facade.

"Not exactly" I said, biting my lower lip.
