I had so much fun in Montana that when the week ended, I didn't want to go back to las Vegas. I had to though, because my entire life was there.
When I went back to las Vegas, I went to see the doctor because I had made an appointment earlier and the news he gave me almost gave me a heart attack.
"What?!" I screamed out in shock.
"You're three weeks pregnant ma'am." Doctor Peter repeated.
"No that can't be possible, there must be some kind of mistake." I started to pace around like I usually did whenever I was nervous.
"I'm afraid not. You can ask about me anywhere I assure you, you'll find only positive reviews. But if you're still having doubts, you can have the test at any other hospital, you'll get the same result." He confidently said.
I sank into the chair behind me feeling terrible. I promised daddy that I would make him proud and now I was pregnant. For a split second, I thought about abortion but if dad found out later, it would only make him feel worse. I didn't even know how I was going to break the news to Sloan, I felt torn and conflicted.
I went home still feeling terrible, getting pregnant isn't a bad thing but when you get pregnant when your life is just starting, then it's a terrible thing. I thought about how I was going to tell Sloan, I even searched it online. 'how to casually tell your boyfriend you're pregnant.' none of it seemed right, I decided I was going to tell him over dinner.
I tried calling him a few times but he didn't answer, probably because he was at work. So I sent him text that I wanted to have dinner with him.
We didn't have much at home so I decided to go food shopping. I bought somethings I needed and things I needed to make dinner for Sloan and myself.
I got back home feeling exhausted but I hurried to the kitchen because it was pretty late. I was setting the table when Sloan texted me back, I angrily dropped the spoon I was holding when I read it, 'sorry I can't make it.'. It was really annoying, to think that I put myself through all this stress for nothing.
I left the kitchen and went straight to bed feeling angry and tired. The next morning, I woke up to the sound of ringing, the looked down at my phone and saw that Sloan was the one calling. I put the phone under my pillow and went back to sleep, luckily for me it was a Sunday and I didn't have to go to work. He called again and I said I wouldn't answer but when the phone kept ringing, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Hello?"
"Why didn't you answer?"
"I'm so sorry I was in the bathroom." I wanted to tell him I was busy or just ignore the question and asked why he didn't answer my calls yesterday but I didn't want us to fight.
"I wanted to apologise for not being able to have dinner with you last night. I was really busy, I even had to work night shift."
"It's okay, I understand."
"Thanks babe. If you're free, we can try again tonight, but instead of your place why don't we go out for dinner?"
"Sure, I'd love that."
"Okay. I'll pick you up by seven, is that okay?"
"It's perfect. Can't wait."
"Alright, bye."
"Bye. Love you."
"Love you too."
I went to Naomi for outfit options because she knew more about fashion than Olivia and I. She browsed through her closet before deciding on a simple mini dress. It was a black sleeveless dress with a round neck. I decided to wear it with my red jacket and heels so it could go well with my necklace.
By six thirty, I was already dressed, Naomi even applied make up for me but not too much that it was really obvious. Sloan said he didn't really like ladies with long hair so I wrapped it up nicely so it doesn't bother him.
He arrived some minutes after seven and we left for the restaurant. On the way there, I kept practicing how I was going to give him the news. I decided I was going to tell him while we were eating dinner. "You look stunning." His compliment brought me back to reality.
"Oh thanks."
"I noticed you wrapped up your hair. It's better this way."
"Thanks, I knew you'd like it."
"I don't know why girls believe they'd look better with long hair. Most of them just look like witches from medievil times."
"I have long hair, is that what I look like?" I smiled knowing he couldn't say yes but my smile vanished when he smiled and said yes. "What?"
"I'm not saying you're ugly, I'm just saying-"
"That I look like a witch?."
"No, I just think you'd be better with short hair that's all."
"Well I think you could have found a better way to put it."
"Okay, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
"Fine, I forgive you."
We didn't talk much the rest of the way, partly because I was still thinking that my boyfriend thought I looked like witch. When we got to the restaurant, we ordered and while we were eating, I felt the time was right so I just said it. "I'm pregnant."
He coughed a couple times and had to drink a whole glass of water before he was able to talk. "What?"
"I said I'm pregnant." I repeated a little louder this time.
"Wow, um...I don't know what to say."
"Are you mad?"
"Of course not. Why would I be?, It's not like you got yourself pregnant. I'm just... surprised."
"I was too when I found out, I didn't know what to do. I was scared you wouldn't take it nicely but I'm glad you're okay with it."
"Of course I'm okay with it, it's our baby and we'll take care of it together." He held my hand and it made me feel warm. "I'll always be there for you when you need me." He smiled tenderly and it made me really happy. I wanted to tell him how much I loved him but I was interrupted by the buzzing of his phone. "One minute." He got up and didn't come back for five minutes and when he returned, he apologized and said he had to leave.
"Just like that?"
"I'm sorry, something very important came up at work and I have to be there. I'll see you later, okay?."
"Okay, bye." I called out because he was already leaving. I sat there for a minute before deciding to go back home. He texted me later that night that he meant every word he said and that he was going to take care of me and the baby for as long as he's alive.
I re-read the message over and over again, smiling to myself every time I did. Who knew that words could make someone feel this good, I felt safe and happy that I had a boyfriend like Sloan. I put the phone beside and closed my eyes smiling, thinking about him and I was finally able to sleep peacefully.
I dialed Sloan's number one more time hoping he would answer this time but it was the same, it kept ringing but he didn't answer. That would make it the thirteenth time this week, since our dinner a week ago I haven't been able to reach him.He stopped visiting his mom's pizza shop and she said he hardly answered her calls either. I told Naomi and she tried calling him too but he didn't answer."You said you told him you were pregnant last week right?""Yeah and he said he was okay with it. I'm just worried, I hope he's okay.""You hope he's okay?, I'm saying what if he's avoiding you because of it?""He wouldn't do that, he loves me. He told me he'll always be there for me when I need him.""Yeah well where is he now?""Let's not jump to conclusions.""Yes, let's not do that. Instead let's go and find out for ourselves.""How?""We'll go to the hospital he works and confront him.""What if we'r
Henry."Honey, how long are you going to keep living this way?""What way?""You're not getting any younger, don't you think you should get married.""Why, is it necessary?""Henry,""Mom, why do you think marriage is necessary?, I mean I'm not married yet I'm so happy.""Honey. You need to get married, I actually have some in mind.""Who?""You know Joyce right?""Dad's business partner's daughter?""Yes. She's pretty.""I don't like her. She's too forward.""Okay, how about Nora?""Nah, we broke up a week ago.""Rachel?""She's married.""What?, But you were dating.""Not really.""Phoebe?""I never liked her."
"Is he answering?""No, it just keeps ringing.""Olivia, try calling him also.""Okay.""Why is Sloan doing this to me?, It's been two weeks now and I haven't been able to reach him.""Did you text him?""Of course. I texted him like a million times, but he never replied any.""Did you guys fight?""No, the last time I saw him was when we went out on our last date when we went to the beach.""You went to the hospital last time with Naomi right?""Yeah.""Why don't you go again?, At least to find out what's going on.""Olly's right, come on.""Already?""What, do you wanna wait till tomorrow?""No, we can go now."I tried calling Sloan all the way but he didn't answer. I was very worried, I hope nothi
I woke up feeling slightly better than before, I was happy I got to see my mom one more time. I decided to take her advice and keep living, instead of beating myself up for nothing, even though it wasn't going to be easy.I went out and while I was preparing breakfast, Naomi came out and saw me. "You're up early." She said as she sat on a stool in the kitchen. "Good to see that you finally decided to come out of your room.""Yeah. I'm sorry I made you guys worried.""Nah it's cool.""Thanks.""So, what're you doing?""I woke up early and thought I should do something nice for my best friends.""Aww how thoughtful of you.""Is olly still sleeping?""Yeah. She slept pretty late last night.""Okay.""So, what're we having for breakfast?""Pancakes.""Hmm my f
I woke up to missed calls from Sloan. I sat up scratching my head in confusionas to why he called. I picked up my phone, still feeling sleepy and looked at the screen, four missed calls.I tried to decide if I should ignore him or call back when he sent a text message. "Hey babe, can you meet me at the hospital?, I wanna talk to you."I scoffed and dropped the phone back on the bed. "Babe?, How ridiculous, after all you said and did to me, you still have the guts to call me babe." I sat there talking to myself. "What, do you think I'd come running just because you called me babe?, Not possible. I have no feelings left in my heart for you." I tried to convince myself but I knew that deep in my heart, I wasn't over him and it made me furious.I got up and headed for the bathroom when the the phone buzzed again. I decided to check it after I showered, maybe then my mind would be calmed and I'd be able to
I got home to tell Naomi the news and she was surprised when she heard. "What?!, Five hundred thousand?" She exclaimed when I told her."Yes. He seemed pretty desperate.""Of course he was. If he wasn't desperate, would he be willing to share the money equally with you?.""I guess you're right.""Of course I'm right. Call him back and tell him you're going to do it.""No, not today. If I call him now, it would seem like I really want to do it. I'll call him tomorrow morning.""Okay, that's actually pretty smart." She agreed with me."I met someone on my way home." I said, remembering Melanie."Really?, Who?" She seemed interested in finding out who it was."Her name's Melanie. She gave me her card and asked me to call her." I handed it to her and she collected it."Where did you meet her?" She asked
The sound of knocking on the door disrupted my sleep. I opened my eyes but didn't get up, "what?" I lazily asked, yawning like a little girl."Get out, you have a guest.""Guest?, What guest?." I wasn't expecting anyone, heck I didn't even know anyone. I took my phone and checked the time, it was just 08:30 so who could it be.I got up and grabbed my robe. Putting it on, I headed downstairs to find Sloan waiting impatiently for me. I sat on the couch close to his and crossed my leg. "What brings you here so early?""Isn't it obvious?, I'm here to know your decision.""I told you I would call you.""Well I'm here now so you might as well just tell me.""Fine. I thought about it last night and decided that it wouldn't be a terrible thing to do.""So you're interested?""Yes, but you have to treat me with the respect I
The drive to the restaurant was a long one, but the uncomfortable silence we shared made it seem even longer. I wanted to say something to get rid of this deafening silence that consumed the entire car but I was terrible atstarting conversations. Neither of us said a word till we got there and when we walked in, I bumped into someone someone I didn't expect to see."Melanie!" I said in surprise and she smiled and came to hug me."Oh my saviour, it's so good to see you." She moved back but didn't let go of my hand. "Henry, this is hazel. The girl I was telling you about.""Hazel" he said as he looked at me from my head to my toe then up again but his gaze lingered on my body long enough to make me feel slightly uncomfortable. He bent so we were on the same level and asked "You, haven't we met before?""No, I don't think so."I avoided his gaze and focused my attention on a table ahead."You're right. The lady I met was much more ugl
