***Allegra's pov***

I moved my knife to his throat, and sliced it open, letting him bleed out slowly. I walk away and face my father. His eyes were wide, and his hand was pressed against his chin, deep in thought.

We made our way to the exit. Before walking out, I looked back at the guards ,and his almost lifeless body.

“Skin him, and make sure to leave his brand intact.” I order as I walk out.

“I’ve trained you well Allegra.” My father beamed with pride.

The walk back to the office was quiet. The Russian Mafia is not to be fucked with. Our mafia is ranked one of the most powerful, along with the Italians, but the Russian Mafia easily has us outnumbered. They’re allied with the French mainly, and those two mafias on their own car devour us. I entered the office and made my way to the sofa, while my father sat behind his desk, his hand still on his chin. A pose he often does when he’s thinking.

“This could be bad Allegra.” He whispered loud enough for me to hear.

“We have finally become a big enough threat to Moskov that he wants to take us down. If anything ,it’s a complement to us.” I smirked.

“He has many powerful connections, and many allies. Knowing Moskov, he wouldn’t launch an assassination against another gang without allies backing him up.” He said sternly while crossing his arms.

“We just need more allies than him, plain and simple. Maybe we can persuade Fernando to help us end Moskov once and for all.” I suggested. “Our Mafia is powerful enough that if we have another powerhouse backing us up, we can easily end the Russians, as well as all of their allies.”

“I’ll make connections at the ball, as will you. Try and get on Fernando’s good side. The Mexican mafia would be a good choice considering we already do business with them.” He spoke.

“Understood.” I nodded and stood up and started to make my way to the door.

“Allegra Sky” my dad spoke softly. I turned over my shoulder, with my eyebrow raised. He rarely used my middle name.

“You’ll make a great leader one day. I’m proud to be your father. I’m certain that you’ll not only thrive in my position, but excel me in every way. I’m proud of you.” He smiled walking towards me and embraced me in a heartwarming hug.

I didn’t know how to react, I tensed up immediately. Moments like this were so rare, he always reminded me to never show emotion, as it was a sign of weakness.

But it did feel good to have my father’s support.

Being a woman leading a mafia is unheard of. People doubted my father for trusting his eldest daughter to take over the mafia. They told him that I wasn’t fit for the job, and I’ll cause the organization to crumble.

I made it my life goal to prove everyone wrong, even myself. That I can not only lead a mafia as a woman, but take over the entire industry. That Allegra Skylar Grey will go down in history as the most ruthless, cold hearted mafia leader that ever lived.

“What happened to ‘showing emotion is a sign of weakness,” I mimick his voice and hug him back.

He sighs and shrugs and before he gets all defensive I hug him back tightly.

“Okay now I need to fucking sleep” I say releasing myself.

“ And eat, you are nothing but bones!” He teases.

“Uuh Dad!!!” I gasp “harsh much” we laugh at it and I head straight to the kitchen grab all I can eat and head straight to my sanctuary.

***Ace's Pov***

I wake up feeling rejuvenated and rush to the shed outside the house where we perform our operations. The ice cold birth did me good. It's pretty early in the morning, but I have to get over with the problem at hand.

Finding my men inside already I give orders to pack the head of the already dead girl in a box and cut one finger of the red head until she talks. Girls are easy to break and before they get to her fourth finger I have all the information I need.

If only Allegra was this naive. A smirk escapes my mouth remembering how feisty she was.

“Shiit!” I curse under my breath realizing the thought of her makes me almost want to smile. It was nice seeing her though, that I can't deny.

My phone rings, disrupting my thoughts.

“Office, now!” My father of course

“Yes Sir!”

“Do whatever you want with that one, get rid of that body, and pack the head and middle finger in a cold box and send it to the Russian Mafia estate wrapped as a present.”

“Ayaiy captain” my body guard replies as I head to my father's office.

“Buongiorno papà.”

He nods and raises his glass as he flushes the remaining drink.

“Heard you got some whores for dinner” his voice was coarse still in his pajamas.

“And now he's going to get a corpse for breakfast” I reply with a straight face.

It's silent for a minute before he lets out a very infectious laughter. I can't help but join him.

“Bravo figlio Mio, bravo!” He lights up his pipe for a smoke and offers one but I'm not a fan, I just shake my head politely.

“I'm going to workout,” I stand up to leave.

“You do that son, you need to look your best for the ball.” he says chuckling as he takes a long drag from his pipe releasing it towards me.

“Looks like you are trying to die before the ball!” I say in the middle of coughing and close the door before he utters another word.

“Did you grab food?” My wife said as I got in the car, bouncing excitedly in the passenger seat. “Did I grab the food?” I said playfully as I held up all her favorite and disgusting food she’s been craving for the past month. “God you’re the best.” She said as she snatched the peanut butter and Oreos out of my hand before I started the car and drove to the private airfields. I fell asleep for most of the flight, and woke up to the somber memory of all four of us laughing on our way to Colombia before both of them jumped out of the plane. Well, my brother willingly jumped out. I looked out the window at the tarmac and the surrounding buildings as we landed smoothly. I looked over at my wife, and gently nudged her shoulder to wake her up. “We’re here love. Come on.” I said as I gave her a slight smile. We exited the jet, and I got into the driver’s seat of the black Range Rover that waited for us and drove towards the shore. The beautiful and lush countryside was gorgeous, and I m

  • Over my dead body...or yours.   chapter 149

***ROMANO’S POV *** 4 weeks later*** We watched as my brother’s coffin was lowered into the ground. My father held my mother as she was crying hysterically, and to my surprise, even the Grey’s were crying over the loss of Ace. Allegra's coffin was buried on the other side of the field, something I know they’d absolutely protest against. I know that they’d want to be buried side by side, hell they’d even be buried in the same coffin if they could. But I kept my mouth shut and my opinions to myself as I watched the rest of the ceremony with my wife by my side. After Ace and Allegra went down to stop Moskov, the Russians grabbed the family members and dragged us down to the basement on a private elevator. Alice wasn’t a blood relative, so she was left behind. Luckily for me, my wife is a total badass, and practically killed all the Russian members at the venue herself. She found the explosives, and she and the members snuck down to the basement, and rigged them to the bottom of the s

  • Over my dead body...or yours.   chapter 148

Fuck! Fuck! Fucking Fuck Me!!!! My heart was racing as we pulled up to the estate, both from anger, excitement, anxiety, and fear. I was going to see Ace after 5 months! A part of me wanted to run into his arms, while the other part wanted to slit his neck. As the car stopped, my excitement quickly morphed into anger and sadness. He didn’t want to see me. He didn’t miss me. If he did, he would have written, he would have tried, he would have done something, anything. I needed closure. I needed to know why he completely disappeared from my life like a vapor vanishing in the wind. I needed a freaking explanation, a good one. I stepped out of the car and took a deep breath. I slowly walked up the steps to the house and opened the massive double doors. I opened the doors to see Alice running towards me with a huge smile plastered across her face. She embraced me with so much force, I had to stumble backwards in order to prevent falling on the marble floor. “ALLEGRA! Fuck I’ve missed

  • Over my dead body...or yours.   chapter 147

For the past 5 weeks that he’s been absent from my life, I was starting to think something happened to him, but it was rather unlikely considering he’s one of the best assassins in the world. He was one hard fucker to kill, and if he was alive… that means he forgot about me… avoided me on purpose. At first, I was a complete and total mess, drinking every night until I couldn’t feel the pain in my chest anymore. But after 2 weeks, I broke beyond the point of no return. I was numb, comfortably numb, and I embraced the familiar feeling with open arms. It was all a lie, all of his words, the sweet nothings he’d whisper in my ear, the promises, everything was a fucking lie. If he meant what he said, he wouldn’t have given up so easily on us because there was just a few thousand miles between us. He just… gave up. I was sent on a recon mission, to strictly gather information and to not engage in any combat unless absolutely necessary. But since Ace vanished from my life, I went on a damn

  • Over my dead body...or yours.   chapter 146

It’s been 155 days since I’ve arrived in this frozen shithole. I’m not sure whether it’s the constant snowfall, or my aching heart, but time seems to move unbearably slow here. When I first arrived here, things weren’t as bad as I thought it would be. Ace blew up my phone 24/7, our conversations usually consisted of him telling me how much he loved me following a heated discussion consisting of me convincing him to not take the first flight down to Samara and bring me back home. Some nights were impeccable. We talked for hours at a time as the sun rose in Russia, and the moon lit up the sky in New York. No matter how uneventful or dull my day was, I was always excited to go back to my hotel room because I knew Ace would be calling. But as Issac Newton so eloquently described, with every action, there is equal or opposite reaction, some days were less desirable than others. The belligerent calls were an obvious indication that the distance was driving a wedge between us. Russia was

“I can’t wait to take you to Italy, Amore. I can’t believe you’ve never been there!” He said as looked at me with excitement in his grey eyes. “It’s amazing, greatest culture, art, food, wine, you’d absolutely love it there baby.” Ace talked about his home with so much enthusiasm, it was like he was a kid on Christmas, and it was absolutely adorable. “Can you blame me? It’s forbidde, De Luca territory. I’d be killed before I even crossed the border.” I chucked as I took another sip of my wine. It took a moment for my words to process in my mind, and a somber feeling spread throughout my body at the fact that I’d never be able to experience it with him. I could tell he was thinking the same as his smile slowly faded, and was sat in silence. “Ace, how long do you think we can keep this up?” I asked quietly after a few moments. “What do you mean babygirl?” He asked with his eyebrows furrowed. “Us. How long can we continue keeping this a secret. I said as I took another sip of my win

“Yes.” Xavier spoke out seriously. “When’s the wedding date?” I asked, biting my lip to suppress a smile. Allegra has always talked about when we get married, she’d want it to be in May. God, I hope it’s in May. “It will be in a few months, most likely November. Plenty of time to prepare the con
