It was true. Romano wasn’t the immediate heir. Alice wasn’t even of blood relation to our family. Their marriage could even one day be accepted. But ours will never be recognized, and will always be forbidden.

A part of me wanted to say yes, to run and be with Ace, to love him with reckless abandon. To live a normal life, without guns, missions, shipments, and danger… but I knew that we couldn’t.
