Seraphine’s POV

Lady Verya didn’t waste a second.

As soon as the Alpha’s footsteps faded, her smile twisted into something cold and mean. She started circling me, slow and deliberate, her eyes crawling over me like I was something

ruined at the market.

“So,” she said, light as air, “you really think you’re special now?”

I kept my head down. Safer that way. She let out a harsh laugh. “I’ve seen this before. Girls like you... slaves who think a little

attention from the Alpha means something. Means they’ve got power.” She stopped right in front of me. “Let’s get rid of that idea.”Her voice went sharp. “Kneel.”

My stomach dropped.

“Outside,” she snapped. “In the sun.”

The guards didn’t wait. Two of them grabbed my arms and hauled me across the courtyard. The heat hit me like a wall... merciless. When they shoved me down, the stone burned my knees.

Lady Verya looked down at me, satisfied.

“Hold her there,” she said.

A third guard came forward, whip loose in his hand.

Seraphine’s POV“You shouldn’t have killed him for my sake,” the words slipped out before I could stop myself. I sat stiff on the edge of the bed, clutching the blanket like it might hold me together, my heart pounding so loud I couldn't hear anything else.Agora gave a laugh that sent chills down my spine.“For your sake?” He stared, disbelief twisting his face. “Don’t flatter yourself, slave.”My breath snagged in my throat.“I didn’t kill Ethan for you.”Confusion hit hard, almost knocking me sideways. “But… you just said...”“I said you would have suffered,” he snapped. “That doesn’t mean I cared.”He turned his back on me then, pacing once, hands clasped behind him. He looked more like a king handing out punishments than someone explaining a death.“There are rules in this palace,” his voice was ice. “Rules that keep order. Guards don’t get close to maids. There’s no romance. No attachments. No exceptions.”My throat burned. “So you killed him because he broke a rule?”“And so di

  • Owed By Alpha Agora    Chapter 47

Agora’s POVI didn’t know why those words exploded out of me like that. You belong to me.The second I said it, something inside me twisted, sharp, violent, a mess of confusion. I watched her flinch. Her back went rigid, like I’d slapped her instead of just speaking. And then she hit me right back with it. I belong to no one. That landed deeper than any blade ever could.I stood there in the middle of shattered glass, the air buzzing with something old and restless, and for a split second, I wondered if I’d finally lost it. I hated her. Always had. Or that’s what I kept telling myself.Seraphine froze by the couch, staring at me with wide eyes and quick, shallow breaths. She looked so small then, breakable in a way that made my chest ache, not out of pity, not out of mercy, just something I couldn’t name.I spun away.“Follow me,” I snapped. She hesitated, and that tiny pause scraped right down my nerves. Behind me, I could feel her weighing the options, wondering if obeying would hur

  • Owed By Alpha Agora    CHAPTER 46

I opened my eyes, gasping hard like someone had dragged me from somewhere. My whole body snapped upright. My heart was racing wildly, and I could hear it. My hands gripped my dress, soaked with sweat, and for a second, I couldn’t figure out where I was, or even who Iwas supposed to be.It took a while for me to recall where I was or what I was doing there, but I finally convinced myself it was a dream. But the golden throne stuck with me, burned behind my eyes. Those endless, looming walls. That heavy sadness is clinging to every hallway like bad weather. And her... me, somehow watching me, eyes full of something between pity and a warning.Who says he’s your Alpha? I swallowed, shaking off the thought as my body trembled. Dreams don’t mean anything. I learned that ages ago. They’re cruel, really... they show you what you’ll never get, whispertruths you’re not allowed to touch. I wouldn’t let my mind turn traitor now.I swung my legs off the bed, braced myself, and stood up. The roo

Seraphine's pov.As I stood in front of them, I almost coughed out loud because it sure seemed they were making out.Gina rolled her eyes and gently stood up from his body after he whispered something in her ear."What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice filled with a hint of impatience and irritation."A maid said you were looking for me," I responded, staring at him as the irritated hatred I felt for him heightened."Go wait for me in my chambers," he ordered and averted his gaze from me.As I walked out of there, I felt a little tingling sensation down my belly and scoffed. Seeing him and Gina in that cozy position made me wish she were his mate instead. Curse this mate bond.He was a monster, and I was never going to accept the mate bond. I wish he knew he's my mate so he could reject me quickly. I couldn't reject him, and he probablyknows it. I was just a slave, and rejecting the Alpha who turned out to be my mate would be one hell of a punishment.I walked into the chamber

  • Owed By Alpha Agora    Chapter 44

Agora's pov.Killing Ethan was never really part of the deal. I had wanted to scare him a bit. He shouldn't have kissed my mate. I only wanted to check out how the festival was going when I felt her presence far off. She and Ethan were kissing, and it made my blood boil.Even though I had no feelings for her, she was still my mate, and until I rejected her, she should remain loyal to me. And she probably shouldn't be doing something like this in the palace. A romantic relationship was forbidden among slaves in the palace, and she defined that vow.Hasn't the mate bond kicked in yet for her? Or was she ignoring it?The fact that Ethan stared at her and his last words were confessions almost made me lose it. This man simply had no shame.I stood by the crack in the open door as she rid the floor of his blood, and this calmness in watching her suffer made me smirk. The pain that flashed through her eyes when Ethan got shot made me almost smile. This was something I could get used to.I w
