(Vivian’s POV)

“Why are you like this, Kai?”

I asked the question softly as I buckled my seatbelt, not even sure if I wanted an answer. I didn’t look at him. I just stared out the window, watching the city lights pass in a blur, my reflection faint against the glass. My heart was still pounding from what just happened back in the café, and my wrist still tingled from where he’d held me.

He didn’t answer.

Of course, he didn’t.

I scoffed and turned to him. “I’m serious. One minute you’re silent for over a week like I never mattered, and the next you’re threatening my client like you have the right to control my life.”

His knuckles tightened on the steering wheel. “I already explained.”

“No, Kai. You made threats. You said you wanted me. But you still haven’t said why. What changed?”

He sighed and glanced at me, his eyes dark under the dim lights of the dashboard. “You really want to know?”

“Yes.” I folded my arms. “For once, give me something real.”

“I couldn’t stand seeing you laugh wi

  • Owned By My Best Friend's Uncle   CHAPTER 90 - THIS IS OBSESSION

(Kai’s POV)“How have you been?” I asked, eyes fixed on Vivian as I took a slow sip of the coffee I had just ordered. She sat across from me with effortless elegance, even after the chaos that had unfolded just minutes earlier. It felt like my brain had short-circuited. The rules I had spent years building—discipline, distance, control—collapsed so easily, all because of this one woman. The same woman was now staring back at me with those emerald green eyes that had been haunting me.I had made a reckless decision—something completely out of character for me. Maybe it would become my greatest regret. Maybe it didn’t matter when it would hit me, because all I knew was that I would much rather see her naked in my bed, moaning from the pleasure only I could give her, than watch her wander around with another man.Fuck.Just thinking about it made my head boil like it was being cooked over an open flame. My grip tightened around the handle of the cup, and my temple twitches in frustration

(Vivian’s POV)“Where’s the answer? Why are you just silent?” I demanded, my voice sharp, my chest heaving as I faced him. He said nothing, just stared at me with a mocking gaze that made my skin crawl.I didn’t know where he came from with all the madness and arrogance he brought into my life. But after more than a week without seeing each other, without even exchanging a single message, why did it have to start like this? Why did we have to begin again with a fight?I had missed him—missed him to the point of madness. I craved to see that handsome face again, even if it looked so furious, so distant, so… proud. Why did he care so much about me meeting another man when he never had any intention of accepting my feelings in the first place? He treated my affection like it was disposable, like I was some stray dog chasing after its indifferent owner. But I’m not a poodle that clings even after being pushed away. I’m not a cat that keeps coming back to someone who clearly doesn’t want m

  • Owned By My Best Friend's Uncle   CHAPTER 88 - NEW BOYFRIEND?

(Kai’s POV)A few days after Vivian moved out, the penthouse felt… quieter.Too quiet. No sound of soft footsteps down the hall. No humming from the kitchen. No faint floral scent lingered after she walked past. It was ridiculous—how aware I was of her absence. And yet, I’d told myself it was for the best. That everything had returned to how it should be. Simple. Clean. No distractions. But why the hell did it feel like I’d carved out a piece of myself and handed it away?I hadn’t heard from her since she left. Not a single message. Not even a call. Not that I expected one. She said thank you and walked out of my life as if she were just returning something she had borrowed. I let her go.No, I pushed her away. And maybe I thought I’d feel relieved after the trial ended, after Adrian was locked away and everything was “settled.” But instead of relief, all I had was a gnawing sense of… emptiness.I was in the middle of lunch with a client at one of the finer restaurants downtown—sippin

  • Owned By My Best Friend's Uncle   CHAPTER 87 - VICTORY OR DEFEAT?

(Vivian’s POV)A few days later…The courtroom was cold, not in temperature, but in feeling. The air was tense, stiff, like everyone was holding their breath. I sat silently at the front with Willem beside me, his suit perfectly pressed and his expression unreadable. He gave me a small nod as if to reassure me. I returned it with a tight, nervous smile.Behind me, in the audience section, I spotted Kai.He was seated next to Summer. His posture was as relaxed as ever—long legs crossed, hands folded neatly—but I knew better. His eyes, sharp and focused, followed every word being spoken at the front of the court. And they never left me for long. This was it.The final trial.Adrian sat across the room, handcuffed and pale. The once overly confident smile he used to flash at me was completely gone. What was left was a hollow version of the man I once thought I knew. The judge’s voice echoed through the room.“Adrian Cownell, you are hereby found guilty of kidnapping with intent to harm,

(Vivian’s POV)I heard the sound of the door opening and immediately looked up at the entrance. My heart skipped. Kai stood there, shoulders slightly tense, brows furrowed, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on me.“You’re home,” I greeted softly.I was still sitting on the sofa, curled up in the corner, hugging my knees. My legs had gone numb a while ago, but I couldn’t bring myself to move. I’d tried to sleep earlier, I really had. I closed my eyes, tucked myself into bed… but it was useless. My thoughts were too loud.Kai stepped inside, his shoes silent on the hardwood floor. He looked… tired. But when our eyes met, something gentle stirred in his expression. Confusion turned into concern.“Vivian?” His voice was warm, low, and slightly raspy. “Why are you still up?”I shrugged slightly. “I couldn’t sleep.”He checked his watch and frowned. “It’s past midnight. You should’ve been in bed hours ago.”“I know.” I smiled faintly. “I just… didn’t want to sleep yet.”He walked
