|| VINCENZO RUSSO's POV ||

The little piece of information caught me off-guard!

It was new to me but the way, Kaya was trying to defame her sister by spouting this to outsiders surely amazed me. I stood, leaning against my Lamborghini lazily. Lightning up another cigarette, I asked back in a bitter voice,

" How are these things related to you, Kaya? You aren't so generous to support outsiders over your sister."

Kaya pinched her hands nervously, her gaze falling. After a moment of silence, she blurted with tears in her eyes, sounding pathetic,

" Because..I...I like you, Vincenzo. I have always been...Why don't you just pick me?"

I almost burst into laughter after her last words. No wonder, she was so desperate to reveal the information. However, denying a woman just because she couldn't fall pregnant wasn't for me. My mother taught me how to respect a woman. Even now I saw how a snake was growing in Sancia's own family.

Taking another puff from my burning cigarette, I stepped forward to blow it out on her face, her face crinkling at once,

" I hate bitching about women, Kaya. The fact that you are disrespecting your sister is enough for me to marry her."

In my last words, I hopped in the car quickly. Kaya was stunned for a second but started chasing my car soon. I ignored her banter and drove away by myself. All the way, I kept replaying her words in my mind. If Sancia couldn't fall pregnant, why did she stay in the family? Why didn't she move on? Would it be really useful if I use it to cancel the marriage?

|| SANCIA ALEKSEEV's POV ||

" Father.. why did you call me all of a sudden.."

I dashed inside our house in haste, my heart beating loudly. An hour ago, I received a call from my father. He urged me to come to our house as soon as possible. I was shocked to death as soon as I stepped in.

Over the couch, my brother was laying with a bandage on his head. His face was pale as if he had bleed too much. I cried out in surprise, running to go to him,

" Brother.. what happened to you.."

My father grabbed me in the middle, forcing me to stop on my track. His eyes were red in anger. He shouted at my face, rage lacing out of his voice,

" IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!! YOURS!!! DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO DID THIS TO HIM?"

I expected Vincenzo's name to come out. Growling softly, I asked him back,

" JUST Tell me! Who is he!!"

My father pushed me away slightly, his lips parting to spat in disbelief,

" YOUR GRANDFATHER-IN-LAW."

I almost slipped my feet in surprise. In my thoughts, Grandpa has always been kind to me. He was a father figure in our family. I muttered weakly, tears falling from my eyes,

"I'm... Impossible..he won't ever...he.."

My father shouted back his response more aggressively, blaming me for everything,

" HE IS!! Did you forget that you are disobeying the godfather of the Mafia? He even took down Vincenzo's deal. Did you think that he would let us go if you refused his proposal? Your brother went to sign a drug deal but those people attacked him without any reason. No one would have dared to hurt him without his permission."

I stumbled on my feet before falling backward. Self-guilt began to rub salt in my wound. I hated myself for the first time in years. It was all my fault that my brother was fighting with death. My father continued, grabbing me up my arms before dragging me out of the house,

" If you can't perform your duty as a daughter, don't come to this house ever again. LEAVE!!"

He slammed the door shut in my face. I stood there silently for a while before bursting into tears. Why couldn't anyone understand my pain? How would I accept someone as my husband who was responsible for my husband's death?

_________

" Tell me, how close are you to begging me to get married?"

He rubbed the salt on my wound. I glared at his devilish face, unable to keep the urge to shoot his head out. He let me wait for three fucking hours before he finally showed me his generous presence.

Yes, I was being kicked out by my household. The situation had been terrible as my people turned their backs on me. Honestly, I had no choice but to marry this devil in a human disguise. Maybe it was another opportunity for me to finish him off finally.

I glared at him more fiercely, and replied with a snort,

" You know everything, don't you? Why are you fucking playing?"

He only laughed softly, putting the ice in his whiskey. He took a sip and licked his lips together, reminding me of the kiss that he forced on me. I swallowed and then looked away. It wasn't appropriate to dream about my enemy. He replied in a low hum,

" Humm! I am facing more blows than you, darling. 50+ of my deals are canceled."

My jaw dropped in astonishment. The old man was surely ruthless when it came to forcing his order on us. Even Vincenzo couldn't get over his shit. Was I trapped in a marriage with him? But Vincenzo was the Don now. He could cancel this marriage, couldn't he?

An idea popped into my head all of a sudden. Standing on my feet, I asked him in a serious voice, remembering all the painful details about my health,

" So.. Vincenzo Russo..are you ready to marry a woman who can't possibly give you an heir for your legacy??"

He stopped drinking for a second, a pin-drop silence fell in the room.

Chapter 191|| REINALDO’S POV ||Christen backed off the moment he saw Seth standing beside me. I noticed it in the way his shoulders stiffened, in the way his eyes flicked from Seth to me and then away. He did not say anything. He did not need to. His silence was louder than any threat he could have made. I did not wait to see if he would change his mind. I turned around and walked straight back into the hospital. The smell of antiseptic hit me the moment I stepped inside. My feet moved on their own, carrying me through the familiar corridor toward her room. Every second felt heavier than the last. When I reached the door, I paused, my hand resting on the handle. I exhaled slowly before pushing it open.Anastasia lay on the bed, her face pale but calmer than before. The machines beside her made steady sounds, a rhythm that told me she was still here. Still breathing. Still fighting. My chest loosened just a little as I walked closer.“You’re back,” she said softly, turning her head t

Chapter 190|| REINALDO’S POV ||I didn’t hear Marcel at first. My mind was too focused on the pale stillness of Anastasia’s face, on the way her fingers lay unmoving over the white sheets, on the thin tubes and wires attached to her body. I clenched my jaw, fighting the rage and fear twisting inside my chest.“Boss.”Marcel’s voice finally reached me.I turned slowly. The expression on his face was tight, controlled—but I had worked with him long enough to recognize the signs. Something was wrong. Very wrong.“What is it?” I asked. He stepped closer, lowering his voice instinctively, even though no one was around. “Christen is coming.”The words didn’t register immediately.“Coming where?” I asked, even though some part of me already knew the answer.“Here,” Marcel said. “To the hospital.”The corridor seemed to narrow suddenly, the walls closing in. My fingers curled slowly into fists.“He’s not alone,” Marcel continued. “He’s bringing his gang with him. Fully armed.”For a brief mo

Chapter 189|| REINALDO'S POV ||I dialed Ryan's number, staring at the screen as the phone rang. My fingers tightened around the edge of the phone, but I knew I had to do this. His angry face had been burned into my mind after our last confrontation, and I couldn’t afford to let him get away with targeting Anastasia. He had crossed a line, and now, it was my turn to make him pay.The call finally connected, and I heard his voice on the other end, cold and full of bitterness.“Ryan,” I said, my voice even but firm. “You shouldn’t have targeted Anastasia. Now, you’re going to pay the price for it.”There was a long pause on the other end. I could practically feel the tension in the air, even through the phone. I could picture him standing there, glaring at me, fuming with anger. He hated me, that much was clear. But he hated Anastasia more. And that would be his undoing.“I should have known you'd be the one behind this,” he spat, his words laced with venom. “What do you think, Reinald

Chapter 188|| Ryan’s POV ||I leaned back against the velvet cushions of the luxurious yacht, letting the sea breeze tug at my clothes. The night was perfect—clear skies, stars scattered across the dark canvas above. I was finally where I wanted to be. Arsula sat across from me, her laugh echoing softly over the water as she recounted yet another one of her playful schemes. The plan had gone off without a hitch. Anastasia was finally out of the picture, and though Reinaldo had escaped unharmed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction that the woman I had grown to despise was no longer a threat.Yet, beneath the surface of my triumph, there was a discomfort gnawing at me. I hadn’t expected it to be like this. I had assumed once Anastasia was dealt with, everything would feel... complete. But it didn’t. It felt empty, like something was missing. I couldn’t shake the thought that Reinaldo’s survival, his ability to slip through my grasp once again, would eventually come back t
