Roman nodded quickly, standing up and walking swiftly towards the kitchen. He rummaged around inside the medicine cabinet for a bit, searching through the various bottles until he managed to find a bottle which he immediately popped open and handed to her. The next morning, when Celine awoke, Roman was lying on the couch, facing her, sound asleep. His arm was slung over the top of her torso and he was snoring gently into her shoulder. He looked peaceful as his eyebrows were relaxed and his mouth hung slightly open. For a split second, he looked younger and less exhausted than he usually did. His hair was disheveled, sticking out at odd angles and there was an obvious flush on his face due to the heat radiating from the heater. Her heart fluttered in her chest at the sight. He looked so adorable and it gave her butterflies to see him looking so tired and worn out. She reached up with her hands to push some of his messy curls away from his forehead before running her fingers lightly over his temples, pushing them downwards gently as she did so. His eyes fluttered for a moment and she thought he was about to wake up, but instead, he nuzzled into her hand, sighing contently as he continued to drift further and further towards slumber.A

Roman sat down at the other end of the counter, turning his head so that his eyes were looking up at her. He had a soft smile on his face and she was unable to avoid smiling back. Celine continued crying quietly, occasionally letting out a small whimper or sniffle, until she finally lost the ability to hold back anymore. It had become quite clear over the course of the last two weeks that he wasn’t going to be able to keep pushing Celine as far as he normally would have. It pained him to see her hurting like this. He understood, logically speaking, that she was still in a fragile place mentally, but it seemed that the more time that passed by and the more painful memories that surfaced, the less he wanted to push her. Slowly and cautiously, he moved his gaze toward the direction that he thought he had seen the source of the noise coming from. And suddenly, he realized that the source of the sound had been Celine’s hand. She was clutching her left hand tightly in both of hers and she had begun rocking herself back and forth in a small circle. The movements weren’t violent, though, but rather rhythmic, and were definitely something that Roman recognized as something she frequently did when she was upset.It wasn’t that Roman was surprised that Celine was having trouble sleeping or that he was worried that she might be feeling uncomfortable. After all, she had been through quite a bit today, and it was understandable that she might feel that way. But what shocked him was that she was apparently doing it in the middle of the night instead of at the usual hour when he would normally be waking her up to ask her if she needed anything. Sometimes, Roman wondered if he should try to help them somehow, but then he remembered what happened the previous day. If he had interfered, then the kidnappers would have gotten away with everything, and Celine and his daughters would have died. Instead, he decided to ignore them, pretending as if nothing had happened and letting the incident be completely forgotten. This way, Celine could have a normal life again, and he could finally sleep without worrying about her.As Roman went through that process of ignoring and forgetting about the incident, he gradually began to grow tired.
