Chapter Two

“Come with me.” His voice was deep, commanding as he spun around on his heels.

I grabbed Cora’s hand, squeezing it before pulling her forward. I didn’t know where he was taking us, but I had a feeling we weren’t going to like it.

Our footsteps were loud down the cold industrial-looking hallway. It reminded me of when I’d gotten a job at a department store in the mall and Cora and I had stayed in the maze of hallways. That had been nice, I hadn’t worried as much about her when I worked there. She could pretend for a little while that things were normal.

That she was just a teenager hanging out, waiting for her friends. Not that we’d lost our parents and we’re barely keeping it together. It hadn’t lasted. Before long we were kicked out by security and I’d lost my job.

Cora’s hand was cold as she gripped my hand tight, her body pressing into my side as if I could help shield her from whatever we were being led to. Untangling my fingers from hers, I wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her tight against me.

The man stopped in front of a heavy-looking door. He tapped on it before looking back at us. A woman opened the door, I use that term loosely. Her eyes reminded me of a cat’s, shining in the darkness, luminescent and overly large. Her black hair fell around her shoulders in glossy waves as she looked up at the man. A hungry smile twitched at her deep red lips.

“Kaji, what brings you to me?” She purred, stepping closer to the man.

I watched the two of them as he brought his hand up, cupping her cheek. “Kaida, dear step-sister.” His thumb moved over her lips and she bit the pad of his finger, making him give her a smile that was anything but warm. “I need you to get these two dressed for Lucian. Those wolves don’t know how to offer a proper tribute to our king.”

She looked back at Cora and I, her lip curling up as she ran her hand over Kaji’s side beneath his jacket... “An insult.”

He rested his forehead against hers and she looked up at him. It felt strange and almost voyeuristic watching them.

“It shall be dealt with.” He growled out and something inside of me wanted to shrink away from them. I didn’t know what they were or what we’d gotten roped into, but I had a gut feeling that things wouldn’t be getting any better.

Cora let out a whimper and I unwrapped my arm from around her, shoving her behind me. Her hands tangled into my sweatshirt and she buried her head against my back into my hair. The two creatures in front of me turned to look at us. I felt the urge to run, stronger than before, but I had a feeling like I did with those wolves that we wouldn’t be getting far.

“Her fear is delicious.” Kaida purred out, her hand moving deeper into her brother's jacket as she wrapped her body around his.

“They’re for Lucian, Kaida.” Kaji reminded her, his hand moving up her back to tangle into her hair. He roughly tugged at her locks until she let out a moan, looking back at him. “We can play later.”

“Promise?” She batted long dark lashes at him before pressing up onto her toes.

He growled again, pressing his lips to hers before letting her go. Kaji turned towards me, “Go with Kaida, don’t give her any trouble, or I’ll make you pay.”

I gulped. Looking up at him, I nodded my head. Not trusting myself to speak, he walked past us and I looked towards Kaida. Her eyes flicked to Cora as she stepped back towards the open door.

“Come in, I’ll get you both ready to be offered up to our king.” When we didn’t move, she let out a laugh before prowling closer. Her hands held up as she tried to give me what I was sure was a smile that was meant to calm me down. It didn’t, if anything it put me more on edge. “Come on, I don’t bite.”

Reaching behind me, I grabbed Cora’s hand, pulling her with me. “You’re protective of your sister, just as Kaji is of me. I like it, it's sweet.”

“I’ll always protect her,” I said, trying to sound braver than I felt.

Kaida’s pupils flared and into slits and she rested her hand over her heart. She gave us a grin that was filled with sharp teeth. I stepped past her, keeping Cora close as we moved into the room. I was hit with the scent of roses, I stood still waiting for my eyes to adjust to the dimly lit room.

“Sit down,” Kaida ordered, pointing to a red velvet loveseat off to the side of a makeup table. “I’d advise you not to escape. If you somehow manage to outrun me, the guards will kill you. Tribute to the king or not.”

“Wh, what do you mean when you say tribute to the king?” I asked as we moved to the loveseat. I sank down into its overstuffed cushions as she walked towards the closet. Cora sat on the edge of the couch, her back ramrod straight. Ready to bolt, despite Kaida’s warning.

“The wolves brought you over as a gift.” She giggled, pulling out a white lace dress. “This one should do.”

She turned back to look at me and I pressed my lips together, still not understanding. Her silver eyes rolled before she looked up at the ceiling

“You’ll be given to our king, he can do whatever he wants to the two of you. If he chooses to keep you, he may give you as a reward to one of the thrall.” Kaida handed the white dress to my sister, then pointed to a fabric-covered screen that would give her the illusion of privacy. “Slip this on honey, that ivory color will bring out your innocence.”

“What’s going to happen to us?”

“That’s for Lucian to decide.”

“You’ve got a fire to you,” she tilted her head to the side, tucking her hair behind her ear as she studied me. “I think I’ll put you in black to contrast your sister, maybe he’ll keep you both to play with.”

She walked back to the closet, grabbing another lace dress. This one was much smaller than the one she’d given to my sister, and I had the feeling that it wasn’t going to fit. I raised an eyebrow as she shoved it into my hand, “I’ve got an eye for this, trust me.”

Standing, I moved behind the screen as Cora slipped on the white dress. If there was one thing I already knew, it was that I very much didn’t trust her or anyone else besides my sister.

Chapter Eighty-FiveI slipped into Lucian’s room; it was dim. The only light was the fire burning in the fireplace, casting shadows about the room. Bash and I had napped well into the afternoon. I’d woken feeling refreshed and ready to claim my last mate. It felt fitting that I would claim Lucian last since he had claimed me first. Everything was coming to a full circle.Lucian sat on the leather couch, his tie loose around his neck. A crystal tumbler in his hand, resting on the arm of the couch, two fingers of whiskey were waiting for him. An open bottle sat on the end table beside him. His hair was neat, the shadows from the fire moved over his face, making him look gaunt. I walked forward, my bare feet padding against the floor, not making a sound. I knew that he knew I was here. He could sense me, his dragon could sense me. He lifted up the tumbler, finishing off his drink. Lucian turned his head towards me, dark glowing eyes traveled up my pale legs. His tongue darted out, mov

Chapter Eighty-FourI wanted him to know that it was me making him feel that way, that he belonged to me, just as I belonged to him. With every step that he would take, he would feel it. Feel me, just as I felt him, as I felt the others. The bond sank into place with him. Pleasure like before had me so close to the edge. I was so close to coming, I moved my fingers faster, brushing them against my opening.Bash was still hard in my hand. His fingers moved to tangle in my hair and I laved my tongue over the bite mark, cleaning the blood from the wound. He gave the strands of my hair a gentle tug and I looked up at him. “Kitten, I need to be inside of you.” His words were a garbled rumble. I pulled my hand from between my thighs, moving to stand. He didn’t let go of my hair, instead, he used it to pull me closer, pressing his lips to mine. Letting out a low growl at the taste of his blood on my lips. His tongue plundered into my mouth, moving over my tongue, fucking me like he had my

Chapter Eighty-ThreeI smiled, undoing another button before dragging my hand to the front of his clacks. His breath hitched as I caressed his half-hard cock. “With my hand or my body?”I licked my lower lip, looking up into his eyes. Desire swirled in those golden pools. It made me feel powerful that I could make him want me this much. Bash walked us back until my back hit the door. His body was flush against mine, pinning me in place. He growled, pressing his lips against mine. I gripped his shoulders, bringing my thigh up so that my sex was pressed up against his now rock-hard length. His tongue lapped at the seam of my lips and I parted them with a sigh. We took our time exploring one another. This kiss felt different to me and I found myself giving in to him and the way that he was making me feel. His hand moved to the back of my thighs, shifting me so that my feet were off the ground. I locked my legs around his hips, rubbing myself against him. A mewling sound that was filled

Chapter Eighty-TwoThe smell of sweet pancakes grew stronger and I realized that it wasn’t just the memory. I could smell pancakes cooking from the dining hall. William’s fingers tightened around mine as he all but bounced forward. My mate was excited for the others to see that we had claimed each other. For them to know that I was his and he was mine. Butterflies fluttered to life in the pit of my stomach and I looked down at the ground. It was such a strange feeling, belonging to someone on such a level that I could feel him with every beat of my heart. “Bash is cooking,” William said and I gave him a shy grin. “Is that a normal thing for him?” “Yeah, Bash…” William paused for a moment. “The way that he shows he cares is by taking care of others. He’s demanding, but he means well.”I mulled over his words the closer we got to the dining hall. The steady hum of laughter and chatter drifted out with the delicious smells. I could hear Bash’s deep voice as he teased someone. I knew

Chapter Eighty-One“Huh?” “Lucian always likes to be first at everything,” Oliver said, his lips twitching up into a smile. “This time it wasn’t him or Bash that you claimed. It was Will. I personally think it should have been me, but whatever. I’m just happy you claimed me.”I felt warm at his words, some of the nausea fading. I could feel how happy he was that I had claimed him. It was a bright, almost airy feeling flowing from both of them. Like a hug first thing in the morning. Some of the swirling in my stomach stopped and I took a deep breath. It helped me to know that they would want me to claim them. “Why don’t we head inside?” William said, his touch warm and soothing. I nodded, pressing my palms against my thighs and smoothing out my dress. “It’ll have to be without me. I’m going to try and avoid Lucian.”“What, why are you avoiding him?” I asked, worried that he was going to get punished for my claiming him. “I left training early,” Oliver said, bringing his hands up an

Chapter EightyCassI sat in the back seat of the SUV, the three of us were showered. Oliver was in a pair of sweatpants and a black hoodie that seemed to swallow his almost lanky form. I was back in the dress that Bash had given me, minus my bra and panties. If Bash and Lucian were anything like William and Oliver when it came to me claiming them. I knew that the offered sweats that William had tried to give me would end up ruined.Oliver kept looking back at me in the rearview mirror. A scowl on his face, his fingers tightened over the leather-covered steering wheel, knuckles white as he let out an exasperated sigh. He dragged a hand through his coal-colored hair, fingers tugging at the damp locks. William ran his thumb over my clavicle bone, his fingers dipping below the fabric of my dress. I could feel everything that he and Oliver were feeling, how much I meant to them. What they hoped for the future, how happy their dragons were that I had claimed them. I wondered how it would
