Leaving her with the doctor , to give them privacy was one of the hardest things I’d ever done. Because there was some warped part of me that wanted to see exactly what those assholes had done to her.

Not that it really mattered , either way they would die. I had known when I’d taken out the one who had attacked her in the bathroom that the brothers might be a problem. I just didn’t expect them to be a problem for Alessia. But really it did make sense because they were after her for who she was. Just like I was.

“Aiden?” There was a small knock on the door. A light rap of knuckles and I turned to find Josh leaning against the doorframe. “Jesus.” He whistled. “You look like shit. When was the last time you slept?” The corners of his mouth twitched. “Is the Moretti girl keeping you up late?”

I shot him a look that instantly made the smile slip from his face. “Sorry , bad joke.”
