CHAPTER FIFTEEN

I stood at the window outside Edith's room, crying as I watched the heart monitor.

Memories of the doctor's revelation disturbed my mind, leaving me paralysed in fear and anxiety that I couldn't hold her unconscious body lying on her deathbed.

"The operation was successful thanks to the first aid you gave her. Rough but beautiful." The doctor revealed as a large breath of relief washed over me.

"But she doesn't have much time. Mrs Michaelson suffers a heart disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This is a genetic disorder in which the wall of the left ventricle thickens, making it harder for blood to be pumped out of the heart. Mrs Michaelson's grandfather had it since it's hereditary. With how severe her condition is; it's a miracle she was walking and breathing before the gunshot." He revealed and I felt like the earth should just dig a hole and swallow.
