AURORA

I barely slept that night.

The letter remained on my bedside table, folded neatly where I had placed it hours earlier.

Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered the handwriting.

My fingers slowly reached for the envelope again.

I already knew who had written it.

Jason.

My ex-husband.

I stared at the envelope for several seconds before finally pulling out the letter.

My hands weren’t shaking anymore.

That surprised me.

There had been a time when even hearing Jason’s name could make my ent

  • PREGNANT AFTER MY EX-HUSBAND CALLED ME BARREN.   Epilogue-one year later

One year had passed.A whole year since Aurora had finally told her children the truth about Kieran.A whole year since the secrets, fear, and uncertainty that had followed her for so long had finally begun to disappear. And somehow, life had become peaceful. Not perfect. But peaceful.Aurora stood in front of the large glass windows of her office, looking down at the Blackwell Pediatric Hospital below. The hospital was busier than ever.Doctors hurried through the halls. Nurses moved between departments. Parents carried sleepy children toward the elevators while others sat anxiously in waiting rooms.A year ago, Aurora had never imagined she would be standing here. Now, she helped oversee several of Blackwell’s pediatric hospitals while continuing to practice medicine herself. She had found a balance between leadership and the thing she had always loved most—being a pediatric nurse, she also obtained a doctorate degree so she is also a Dr.Her life had changed in ways she never expec

  • PREGNANT AFTER MY EX-HUSBAND CALLED ME BARREN.   The wedding

AURORAThe morning of my wedding arrived before I was ready for it.I stood in front of the mirror while Jessica adjusted the final part of my veil. For a moment, I didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me.The white gown hugged my figure perfectly before falling into a long, elegant train behind me. My blonde hair was styled softly, with delicate strands framing my face. My makeup was simple, but my eyes looked brighter than they had in years.Jessica stepped back.“Wow.”I laughed nervously.“Is that a good wow?”She shook her head.“That is a Kieran-is-going-to-forget-how-to-breathe wow.”I laughed again. Then my eyes filled with tears.Jessica immediately noticed.“Don’t cry.”“I can’t help it.”She wrapped her arms around me.“You made it, Aurora.”I closed my eyes.Yes.I had. After everything that had happened, I was finally standing here.Getting married again to the best thing that has ever happened to me.I was walking toward Kieran because I had chosen him.And he had

  • PREGNANT AFTER MY EX-HUSBAND CALLED ME BARREN.   New beginnings

Aurora POVI had never seen so many wedding magazines in one room. They were everywhere. On the coffee table. On the sofa.Even on the floor.Jessica sat beside me, flipping through another magazine with an expression that suggested she had discovered the meaning of life.“This dress,” she said.I looked at the picture.“No.”She frowned.“Why?”“Too much.”She turned another page.“This one?”“Too plain.”Another page.“This?”I stared at it.“Maybe.”Jessica immediately grinned.“I knew it.”I laughed.“You’re enjoying this too much.”“Of course I am. My best friend is getting married.”I smiled at the word.Married.Even after saying yes, it still felt strange.Beautiful.Terrifying.But beautiful.I looked down at the ring on my finger.Kieran’s mother’s engagement ring.Sometimes I still couldn’t believe I was wearing it.Jessica followed my gaze.“You’re happy.”I looked at her.“I am.”“But?”I hesitated.“I’m nervous.”“About the wedding?”“About everything.”Jessica’s express

Aurora POVFor a few seconds, I couldn’t speak.Kieran was still on one knee in front of me.The ring was still between his fingers. And the question he had asked seemed to echo through my mind. Will you marry me?I looked at him. Then I looked at the ring.My heart felt painfully full.I thought about everything we had survived to reach this moment. The betrayal. The lies. The years apart. The children. The secrets. The hospital. The truth. The pain. The forgiveness I had struggled to understand. There had been moments when I wondered if I would ever be able to look at Kieran without remembering the darkest parts of my past. But healing had taught me something.Forgiveness didn’t mean pretending the pain never happened. It didn’t mean saying what happened was acceptable. It didn’t mean forgetting.Forgiveness meant I was finally refusing to let that pain control the rest of my life.I had spent years carrying anger, fear, shame, and questions that had no answers. And slowly, I had le

  • PREGNANT AFTER MY EX-HUSBAND CALLED ME BARREN.   The proposal

Aurora POVWhen Kieran told me he wanted to take me somewhere, of course I didn’t expect the park. The moment I stepped out of the car, I recognized it. My eyes moved across the familiar walking path, the tall trees, the small pond reflecting the evening sky.My chest tightened.“This is where…”I stopped.Kieran looked at me.“Where you told me the truth.”I swallowed. The memory came rushing back. That night. How his face was.The fear in my voice. The things I had finally confessed about the night that changed my life.I had stood in this same park and told Kieran everything I had spent years hiding.I hadn’t known what his reaction would be.I hadn’t known what would happen afterward. And now, months later, I was standing in the same place with him again.Only this time, everything was different.Kieran reached for my hand.I let him take it.“I wanted you to come here with me,” he said.“Why?”“Because this is where you gave me the truth.”His eyes held mine.“And I want to give
