The house was quiet, but it didn't feel peaceful.

Every shadow in the hallway seemed to be watching me. I stood in the kitchen, my hand shaking as I dialed the number. I looked at the clock on the wall, it was late, but I knew Julian would be awake.

He was always working, always watching. I had to tell him. If I didn't, and Mark did something stupid, I would be the one to pay for it.
