RENAN'S POV

I found her in the waiting area outside Braham's office, and my chest squeezed at the sight of her. She looked up when I entered, and her expression immediately shifted from neutral to concerned.

"Renan? What's wrong? You look..."

"Fine. I'm fine." I forced my hands to unclench.

She stood and crossed to me, her hand coming up to cup my face. "You're not fine. Your eyes are still gold, and you're shaking. What happened?"

Just her touch, her voice, started to calm the storm inside me. I leaned into her palm, closing my eyes.

"Pack politics," I said. "Roy being Roy."

"Did he say something about me?" Her voice sharpened. "Because if he did..."

"How did you know?"

"Because you look ready to murder someone, and the only time you get this angry is when someone threatens people you care about." She stepped closer, her other hand resting on my chest. "What did he say?"

I hesitated, not wanting to repeat Roy's crude words. But Callie deserved to know what she was walking into by be

MILLIE'S POV"Hold still," Callie ordered, adjusting the collar of my blouse for the third time. "You look beautiful, but this collar keeps flipping up.""It's fine, Cal. Nobody's going to care about my collar at a preliminary hearing." I caught her hands gently. "Breathe. You're more nervous than I am."We were in Braham's study—or rather, what had become our war room for trial preparation. Will Reid's files covered the desk. My testimony notes were highlighted and annotated. Callie had created a timeline of events on a whiteboard that looked like something from a crime drama.Tomorrow was Sabrina's preliminary hearing. The first major legal step toward murder charges for my mother's death."I'm not nervous," Callie protested, then immediately contradicted herself. "Okay, I'm a little nervous. This is huge, Millie. Twenty-one years. Your mother's justice is finally within reach.""I know." I squeezed her hands. "Which is why I need you to be calm. If you're panicking, I'll start pani

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Pack pressure

RENAN'S POVThe pack training grounds were busy when I arrived for the morning session. Wolves in human form clustered in groups, some running drills, others sparring in designated areas. The autumn air carried the scent of sweat, earth, and the particular musk that came from shifters working out their wolves.Gabriel spotted me first and jogged over. "Beta. Good, you're here. Roy's been asking for you."My jaw tightened automatically at Roy's name. "What does he want?""Says there's a concern about border patrol rotations in the southern territory." Gabriel's expression was carefully neutral, but I caught the warning in his tone. "He's gathered a few others to discuss it."Translation: Roy was holding court again, and I was being summoned.I followed Gabriel to the covered pavilion where Roy held his informal meetings. Sure enough, he sat at the center of a group of wolves—maybe eight or nine, all from traditionalist families. They went quiet when I approached."Beta Renan," Roy gree

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Between storms

MILLIE'S POVThe afternoon sun streamed through the living room windows, casting golden light across the couch where Braham and I sat tangled together. His hand traced lazy patterns on my thigh while mine rested against his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.Leo was upstairs, supposedly napping, but I could hear the faint sounds of him playing with his toys instead."We should check on him," I murmured, but made no move to get up."He's fine," Braham said, his voice low and rough as his hand moved higher on my thigh. "We have a few minutes." His lips found my neck, and I tilted my head back with a soft sigh. God, I needed this. Needed the distraction. Needed to feel something other than the constant anxiety that had been churning in my stomach since Martha's sentencing yesterday."You've been quiet all day," Braham murmured against my skin. "Talk to me." "About what?" I asked, even though we both knew."About yesterday. The hearing. Seeing Silas."I pulled back sligh

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Father burden

SILAS'S POVI stood outside the courtroom, leaning against the cold marble wall, trying to process what had just happened.Martha was pregnant. With my child. And she'd just antagonized the judge so badly she'd gotten her sentence almost doubled. Fifteen years. Ten before parole. My child would be born in prison. Raised, at least for the first few months, behind bars. And then what?I'd been attending all of Martha's hearings—preliminary, procedural, all of them. Always sitting in the back, always leaving before anyone could notice me. Especially before Millie could see me. I didn't know what I'd say to her. Didn't know if I had the right to say anything.Today, I'd arrived late deliberately, slipping in after everyone was seated. I'd seen Millie in the front row with Callie and Braham, looking composed and beautiful in that blue dress. And I'd made sure to sit where her back was to me.Coward. Still a coward."Mr. Butt."I looked up to find Martha's lawyer, Kevin Foster, approaching

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Five minutes

MARTHA’S POV I opened my mouth to say exactly what Kevin and I had practiced: "I want what's best for my baby, Your Honor. Whatever that means."But then I looked at Silas. And I saw it—that expression I'd seen a thousand times before. That look that said he wished he was anywhere else. That he wished I didn't exist. That I was nothing but an inconvenience in his perfect fantasy world where he got Millie instead of me.This baby was his. His responsibility. His burden. And he didn't want it.He'd never wanted anything from me except what he couldn't have from Millie.Something bitter and poisonous rose in my chest, burning away the careful control I'd maintained."I want to keep my baby," I heard myself say. But my eyes stayed locked on Silas. "Unless...""Unless what, Ms. Harvey?" Judge Morrison's tone had sharpened. The courtroom held its breath. And suddenly, all I could see was every time Silas had compared me to Millie. Every time he'd made it clear I was his second choice. Ever
