The ride to the apartment was exhausting from start to finish. I wrestled my heavy bags on and off the bus, regretting the morning bus over a taxi, even if it had saved me a few bills.

The thought of leaving Oliver alone gnawed at me. And Camille’s urgent call… the one I couldn’t return, no matter how many times I tried.

I wondered if it was a poor network or my phone acting up again.

"Great," I muttered.

"Finally charged and still useless?" I let out a frustrated scoff, shaking my head at the phone.

Soon, I reached the apartment. Loud screaming from inside the house welcomed me.

I heard Camille and Jason's voices arguing as usual.
