Rhy's POV

I watched Lyra cradle Finn against her chest, her fingers smoothing through his damp hair as the paramedic worked around them. The stranger had arrived with credentials and a calm efficiency that immediately put everyone at ease, everyone except me.

My eyes kept darting between the medic checking Finn's temperature and Chris, who stood guard by the window like some kind of sentinel.

"His fever's breaking," the paramedic announced, packing away his supplies. "The antibiotics are working. He'll be fine with rest and fluids."

The relief that washed over Lyra's face was like watching the sun break through storm clouds. She pressed a kiss to Finn's forehead, whispering something I couldn't hear. My chest tightened. I should have been the one she turned to in that moment of relief. Instead, her eyes found Chris first, a silent thank you passing between them that cut deeper than any blade.

"We need to move," the paramedic continued. "There's a secure safehouse twenty minutes from

  • PREGNANT and REJECTED by the BILLIONAIRE    Chapter 87: A Hidden Truth

Chris POV The church bomb threat had everyone on edge. I watched Lyra pace the small safehouse living room, her phone clutched in her hand like a lifeline. Rhys was at the window, supposedly keeping watch, but I could see him stealing glances at her every few seconds. The tension between us was thick enough to cut with a knife. His accusation about my feelings for Lyra hung in the air like smoke, impossible to ignore. He wasn't wrong, I was in love with her. But what he didn't understand was that I hated myself for it."We need to think this through," I said, trying to focus on the immediate threat. "The second traitor wants you at the church. It's obviously a trap.""Everything's a trap," Lyra said, echoing her earlier words. "But what choice do I have? They're threatening Finn."I looked at her son, still sleeping peacefully on the couch. The fever had broken, but he looked so small, so vulnerable. The thought of anyone hurting him made my chest tight with rage."There has to be a

Rhy's POV The walk back to the safehouse felt like a funeral march. Lyra walked between Chris and me, but she might as well have been on another planet. Her mind was clearly spinning with everything that woman had told her, and I could see the wheels turning behind her eyes. Chris kept glancing at her with that protective look that made my stomach twist. When she stumbled slightly on a loose piece of concrete, he was there instantly, his hand on her elbow to steady her. "I'm fine," she said, but she didn't pull away from his touch. I wanted to punch something. Instead, I shoved my hands deeper into my pockets and tried to focus on what mattered, getting back to Finn. "We need to talk about what just happened," I said, breaking the silence. "This Elena woman, do you think she was telling the truth?" Lyra's fingers went to her jacket pocket, where she'd tucked the key. "I don't know. But the things she knew... about my parents, about the locket. How could she know those things i

  • PREGNANT and REJECTED by the BILLIONAIRE    Chapter 85: A Secret Meeting

Lyra POV The cold night air bit at my skin as I hurried through the empty streets, my phone clutched tightly in my hand. The message had been clear: Meet me at the old pier. Midnight. Come alone, or the boy dies.Every step felt like a betrayal. I'd left Finn sleeping peacefully on the couch, trusting Chris to keep him safe. I slipped past Rhys without a word, knowing he'd try to stop me if he knew. But what choice did I have? The message mentioned my parents, and whoever sent it knew things about our family that no one should know. The pier stretched out into the darkness ahead, its old wooden boards creaking in the wind. Fog rolled in from the water, making the yellow streetlights look like ghosts. I pulled my jacket tighter around me and checked the time. 11:58 PM."You came."I turned around, my heart hammering. A woman stepped out of the shadows near the pier entrance. She was older, maybe in her fifties, with silver-streaked hair and tired eyes. She wore a long coat that had se

Chris POV The bullet wound in my shoulder throbbed with each heartbeat, but I kept still by the window, watching the police patrol the perimeter. Pain was nothing compared to the ache in my chest as I listened to Rhys and Lyra's conversation unfold behind me."I'm fighting for us, Lyra," Rhys pleaded, his voice raw with desperation."You broke us first," she replied, her words sharp as broken glass.I gripped the windowsill tighter, my knuckles white. Every instinct screamed at me to turn around, to comfort her, to tell Rhys to back off. But this wasn't my fight. This was their marriage, their history, their pain to work through.Even if it was killing me to watch.Finn stirred on the couch, his small hand reaching out in sleep. Lyra immediately moved to him, adjusting his blanket with the gentle care that had first drawn me to her. She was a mother first, always. That fierce protectiveness was part of what made her so beautiful."His fever's completely gone," she whispered, pressing

  • PREGNANT and REJECTED by the BILLIONAIRE    Chapter 82: A Fractured Trust

Lyra's POVMy heart ached as I sat beside Finn on the creaky cot, his small body trembling under a thin blanket, his fever burning through my fingers as I brushed his damp hair. The safehouse’s dim light flickered, casting shadows that felt like threats, and the traitor’s chilling message about a bomb targeting Finn gnawed at my soul. Ciara’s claim of stopping Salvatore didn’t ease the fear gripping me, her betrayal still stung, and now Rhys and Chris’s rivalry tore at my trust, leaving me questioning who I could lean on. Heartbreak and hesitation warred within me, Finn’s weak coughs anchoring me to the only thing that mattered, keeping my son alive.“Finn, you’re okay,” I whispered, my voice trembling, tears welling in my eyes. “Mommy’s here, baby.”His small hand clutched mine, his voice faint. “Mommy, I’m scared.”“I know,” I said, my throat tightening, tears spilling. “We’re getting help soon.”Rhys knelt beside me, his eyes soft but shadowed with guilt, his voice low. “I’ll neve
