CHAPTER 46

By the time evening settled over the apartment, Liam had officially decided he wasn't waiting for Raphael.

He was simply... relaxing.

On the couch.

In complete silence.

For what had to be the twentieth time in the last hour, his eyes drifted to the digital clock on the wall.

7:46 p.m.

He frowned.

Seriously?

His gaze shifted to the untouched extra drink sitting on the coffee table. He looked away almost immediately.

Not my problem.

Raphael was a grown man. If he wanted to disappear fo

  • PUCKING MY ROOMMATE    LIAM, PLEASE SAY SOMETHING. ANYTHING

Chapter 58 The ride home passed in complete silence. Aria had offered to call a cab after they left the hotel and neither of the boys had objected. They simply climbed into the back seat without a word. Liam sat by the window, his gaze fixed on the blur of buildings rushing past outside. Raphael sat on the opposite side, leaving an unusual amount of space between them. No one spoke. Even the driver took one look at the tension hanging in the air and wisely kept the radio low. Aria sat in front, glancing behind every few seconds. Normally she would've cracked a joke by now or simply filled the awkward silence with conversations. But not now, not when she knew she was the cause of the bomb that exploded in the hotel lobby. The taxi finally pulled up outside the apartment building and they tumbled out like robots. The elevator ride was somehow even worse. They all stayed at different corners of the square box. The soft hum of the elevator echoed far louder than it should have.

  • PUCKING MY ROOMMATE    DID RAPHAEL JUST PUBLICLY DECLARE HIS LOVE FOR LIAM?!

Chapter 57For a long moment after Liam left, Raphael didn't move. The bell above the café door chimed softly as it swung shut behind him, then settled into silence again. Raphael stared at the empty space where Liam had been standing."Fuck." He let out a humorless laugh and scrubbed both hands over his face. "What the hell was that?"The conversation replayed in his head with painful clarity. Do you like her? He physically winced. "I actually asked him that."A couple at the next table glanced over. Raphael lowered his voice. "Fucking fantastic."He leaned back in his chair, letting his head fall against the cushion. "What is wrong with me?"The answer refused to come. He knew why he'd asked. Sort of. Watching Liam and Aria together these past few days had made something inside him itch in a way he couldn't explain. Every laugh they shared. Every joke. Every time Aria linked her arm through Liam's. Every time Liam smiled at her. It had all bothered him far more than it should have.

  • PUCKING MY ROOMMATE    I KNOW YOU LIKE MY BROTHER

CHAPTER 56Liam was already pulling out his phone before he'd slammed the café door behind him.He tapped Aria's chat open again.Aria: Liam, please come help me.His thumb hovered over the keyboard.Liam: What's wrong? Where are you?Her reply came almost immediately. It was a location pin followed by an address. Grand Crescent Hotel.Nothing else.Liam frowned. No explanation. No details.Just an address."Seriously?" What the heck was wrong? He waved down the first taxi that drove past. The driver rolled down his window."Need a ride?""The Grand Crescent Hotel."The driver nodded. "Hop in."Liam climbed into the back seat, bouncing one leg impatiently as the taxi pulled into traffic. His mind refused to slow down. Was she hurt?Had something happened at the wedding?Did someone steal her equipment? Was she having a panic attack? The possibilities only got worse the longer he thought about them.He unlocked his phone again.Liam: Are you okay? Please, Just tell me you're alright."

  • PUCKING MY ROOMMATE    PLEASE DON'T TELL RAPHAEL

CHAPTER 55 The café sat just around the corner from the training facility, tucked between a florist and a tiny bookstore. A brass bell chimed softly as they stepped inside. Warm air wrapped around them, carrying the comforting smell of freshly ground coffee and baked pastries. A handful of people occupied scattered tables, quietly talking or working on laptops while mellow music drifted through the speakers. Liam looked around. "I forgot this place existed." Raphael shrugged as they joined the short line. "We haven't been here in a while." "No kidding." The barista looked up from the espresso machine and smiled in recognition. "Well, if it isn't my favorite hockey players." Raphael smiled back. "Hey, Mia." "It has been forever." She looked between them. "I was starting to think you'd found another coffee shop." "We've been busy," Raphael replied. "Clearly." Her eyes landed on Liam's now bare arm. "So... you're finally free." Liam lifted his elbow dramatically. "As of twenty

CHAPTER 54The drive to the team's sports medicine center was short and quieter than usual. It wasn't awkward, Just peaceful.Soft music drifted from the radio as the city slipped by outside the windows. Liam rested his elbow against the door, watching pedestrians hurry along the sidewalks while Raphael focused on the road. After a while, Raphael glanced at him."You nervous?"Liam looked over. "About getting a sling off?"Raphael shrugged. "You've had it on for almost a week.""I'll survive.""You sure?"A faint smile tugged at Liam's lips. "You sound more worried than I am."Raphael kept his eyes on the road. "I'm just making conversation.""Mhm.""I am.""If you say so."Raphael huffed. "I liked you better when you were in pain and couldn't talk."Liam laughed."Liar."A smile flickered across Raphael's face. "...Yeah."The sports medicine clinic occupied the ground floor of the team's training facility. The familiar scent of disinfectant and athletic tape greeted them the moment t

CHAPTER 54The apartment was unusually lively for eight in the morning. Camera batteries lined the kitchen island in neat little rows, alongside memory cards, lenses, cleaning cloths, a laptop, and two backpacks. A half-eaten piece of toast sat forgotten on a plate as Aria darted frantically between the kitchen and the bedroom."Battery," she called.Raphael slid one across the counter without looking up."Got it.""Lens cloth."He pointed toward the side pocket of her backpack. "Already packed.""My extra SD cards?""Front zipper.""My charger?""Left compartment.""My..."Raphael finally looked up from the checklist on his phone. "Aria."She froze mid-step."You've asked me where everything is six times.""Have I?""Yes.""Oh.""You also asked where your camera was while it was hanging around your neck."Aria instinctively looked down. The camera rested exactly where he'd said it was. She sighed dramatically. "I'm nervous.""I noticed."Liam watched the siblings from the couch, tryi
