She tapped the screen then whispered; “I will fight I will be back”
Afternoon after the chemo time was done Jessica stopped at the office to ask for info about the costs. She knew her savings were low. She had secretly sold some of her things, even thinking about selling a house from her mother’s inheritance.
“Sorry, Mrs. Jessica,” said the cop “For this round͏ of chemo... everything is paid in full.”
Jessica was surprised. “Paid for? By whom?”
The cop looked at the system. “Paid in a name of Kevin Aprilio”

Without noise, tears rolled down her cheeks. Words were of no consequence. To Jessica, Anya’s embrace and loving gaze said everything. That was ample. In the afternoon, Jonas brought the results of the follow-up test. Finding Jessica sitting down, he shared the news. After Anya resumed playing, he showed her the examination results.“Your response to chemo is quite good. But we need to add one more cycle. Your body is strong, Jessica. You can do it.”“I’m beginning to notice that I might be losing hair, and I’m scared that one day I’ll wake up and my body won't function normally.” Jonas softly held her hand.“I know you’re frightened. But you are not alone.”Jessica glanced at Jonas. “Is it okay if I share something?” “Always.”

She didn’t take her eyes off the IV drip and the fluid that was dripping at a steady pace.“Why did he do that?” she inquired as though voicing the question took a toll on her. Jonas exhaled sharply.“Maybe... because of guilt. Or love that he couldn’t express. Or because he realized you were the only person who cared about Anya like your own flesh and blood.”

Randy looked at his girl for a bit, then said softly “Do you love the him.”The ask made Jessica stop.
