Ch 5 - Rogue or Not

SILA

“I hate rogues Nikolas,” I reminded him.

“I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU SILAS,” he roared.

“You can’t kill me idiot,” I teased.

“Silas, I swear, if you mistreat her, there will be consequences! She needs us and you WILL be there for her,”he demanded.

“She’s a rogue Nikolas,” I said once more before shutting him out. I could feel him fighting to get me to listen to him.

“He’s right you know,” Troy commented after a while.

I was lost. “Who?”

“Nikolas. You left your little argument open to me. He’s right. She may be a rogue, but you also have to remember that she doesn’t even know what she is. You can’t compare her to other rogues,” Troy argued.

“She could be fooling us,” I pointed out. He was about to reply when Dana came into view. She’s one of the pack doctors.

“Oh my goddess! What happened here?” she asked.

“We don’t know, but we need you to help her. We weren’t sure whether or not to move her,” Troy told her.

“Alpha, she’s a rogue. Am I meant to help her?” she looked up to me with pleading eyes. I heard growling in my head.

“Yes, you can help her. I will explain everything to you,” I retorted.

I would have to since Dana’s my sister.

She smiled knowingly. “She’s your mate isn’t she?”

“Yes, now please help her. Nikolas is seconds from shifting and ripping you apart for just standing there,” I rubbed my temples, willing the damn wolf to shut up.

“Well then, I’d like to live. I need you to leave,” Dana said.

“What? I’m not leaving her!” Nikolas pushed through with so much force, I held onto the tree.

“Nikolas, if you don’t you will kill me! She’s got bones that need to be put back into place, and when you’re here, you will react badly when she screams,” Dana elaborated.

“We could lock you up in one of the cells until Dana’s done, and then I’ll come and fetch you,” Troy suggested.

“I am NOT leaving,” Nikolas growled loudly again.

“Buddy, I think they’re right,” I tried to calmly convince.

“I’ll leave on one condition,” he said.

“And that is?” I asked.

“You accept that she’s our mate and that you won’t harm her,” he bargained.

“Yeah sure,” I shrugged. I felt him give me back control.

“That was scary! I thought I’d piss in my pants,” Dana giggled nervously. She’s never faced Nikolas before.

“The big boss has that effect on people,” Troy chuckled.

“Ok, so let’s get me locked up so that you can help my mate,” I stated.

Troy led me to the cells we use to keep prisoners. I could see them cower in fear, until most of their expressions turned to confusion as Troy locked me in a cell.

“Nikolas, I know this is going to be hard, especially since we’re not that far off from where she is, but I need you to fight your urge to kill and remember that we’re only trying to help her,” Troy said in my mind.

“I hear you, and I’ll try,” Nikolas replied. Troy nodded and left to get back to Dana. I just hope they help my mate, whose name I only just realized that I don’t know.

TROY

I walked back to Dana to find her hovered over our future Luna. I was happy for Silas. My best friend needs a mate and I know he’s stubborn to accept her, but he will realize that no one will ever love him more than her.

My cousin is honestly very beautiful, and my wolf told me I had to protect her because not only is she our Luna and family, but there is a big reason why she doesn’t know what she is, and why she hasn’t shifted yet. We all shift when we turn sixteen, and yet she reached seventeen without shifting.

She’s an intriguing mystery.

“What do you need to do?” I asked Dana.

“Well, both her knees, shoulders, and elbows are dislocated, and her leg is broken. She’s not healing at all, so I need to first pop the bones back into place before we can take her to the hospital. Nikolas isn’t going to like this at all,” she explained.

“Can’t you give her that thing that numbs your pain so that she can’t feel it? That way she won’t scream,” I asked.

“She’s too injured for that. The bones are the only thing I’ve checked out, so she could have other injuries, and since she’s not healing, we can’t risk anything, but we do need to be quick about this. She’s losing too much blood,” she pointed out. I nodded.

Dana took a deep breath and popped the one knee back into place. The girl’s eyes flew open and she screamed, but her scream was covered by the growl that shook the earth. Dana popped the second knee back into place, and quickly followed with the shoulders and elbows. By now, the girl’s voice was burnt from screaming and she was crying. When I tried to pick her up to take her to the hospital, I was ripped away by a very pissed off alpha. His eyes were pitch black.

“MINE!” he growled.

“Silas, you need to be careful with her. We need to get her to the hospital. Do you think you can manage that without wanting to kill anyone?” I asked him. Dana was terrified as he nodded.

“Here you go,” I handed him shorts. He took them as his eyes returned to normal.

He turned to pick up his mate, who had passed out from the pain. Dana walked ahead, but you could tell she was pretty shaken. I didn’t blame her. If I wasn’t so used to Silas and Nikolas, I would’ve been pretty afraid myself.

I’m just happy that my best friend has found his mate.

SILAS

At first the screams only affected Nikolas, and I could push him down. The fact that I could feel her pain wasn’t making things better, and when she screamed the third time, I lost it. The prisoners around me were worried for their lives as I half shifted, going in and out of my shift.

Her screams were becoming raspy, and Nikolas wanted to kill Dana. I would’ve let him if Dana wasn’t my sister. We both agreed that we wouldn’t hurt Dana, but I figured that we needed to be with our mate for us to calm down.

I broke out of the cell – the very cell that was designed to keep all werewolves in, even alphas. I guess I’m stronger than I thought I was. I could see the disbelief on the prisoners and guard’s faces as I ran passed them I reached the scene just as Troy was bending over to pick my mate up. I threw him off and heard him land against a tree, but I didn’t care.

Troy explained that I needed to be gentle with her, something Nikolas and I both agreed on. I picked up my angel and cradled her in my arms. Her tear stricken face broke my heart and she whimpered in my arms.

Even looking like this, she was beautiful. I wanted her to open her eyes so that I could stare into them. I sounded whipped, but I didn’t care. She’s my love, my soul mate, and I will do everything in my power to protect her.

Rogue or not.
