Danger

Chapter 6 - Danger

Lilith

Kylie and I both exchanged nervous glances. The man stood patiently as we both silently decided whether this was a good idea. I bit the inside of my cheek as Kylie shrugged her shoulders.

"We're already here." She moved toward the door, only stopping when she noticed I hadn't followed. The sin of a man kept his eyes on me, sending a shiver up my spine that made my skin pebble.

"You leave to go back to school tomorrow, Lil. So let's make tonight a night you won't ever forget." Kylie said, a small plea to her voice as she gave me her best puppy dog eyes.

The tiny little voice in my head was silent, making me face this decision alone. My eyes shifted from Kylie to the guy standing at the door. I let out a sigh, giving a stiff nod.

"Alright, but just remember I have to be back by three, or my dad will send out the brigade in search of me." Kylie laughed, her shoulder shaking.

"I promise you, just a few hours, and then we will go home." I stepped beside Kylie, linking my arm with hers as we stepped into the concrete hallway. Graffiti and posters littered the walls, and the distant sound of music echoed further down the hall.

"Follow me, and I'll take you to the lounge. From there, you can decide which sin you want to experience first." His deep silken voice did things to me that I was too ashamed to admit. He moved past us, his footsteps silent against the cement floor. Kylie and I followed in silence, taking in every detail we could. Neon blue lights glowed against the floor. Slowly the floor began to dip; a large exit sign sat overhead a set of stairs that took us further underground.

I took a deep breath before making my way down the steep steps. Kylie's hand tightened around my bicep. And I gave her a wary smile, trying my best to ignore the sudden claustrophobic feeling that was settling into the pit of my stomach.

With each step we took, the music grew louder, and the smell of weed, alcohol, and sex wafted toward us. Finally, we made it to the bottom of the stairs. Two large black doors sat closed, but the guy leading us pushed them open quickly. The smells and sounds o the club assaulted us as it revealed the loud crowd of people dancing and singing to the music.

My mouth parted in awe. I looked at Kylie to see her expression was the same as mine. Awestruck.

"If you need anything, call for me, and I will come to help you. But until you know which room you wish to visit, please enjoy the food and entertainment." Despite the loud music, I could hear the god of a man's voice as clearly as I could in the hallway.

"You didn't tell us your name," I shouted over the music, unable to hear myself as well as I could hear him. He flashed me a lazy smile, showing his perfectly white teeth. Something that should have been a warm gesture felt almost sexual when he did it. I felt my cheeks flush; a light flashed in his eyes as he noticed my sudden change in shade.

"My name is Samuel." He said before turning away from us. I watched as Samuel headed to the bar and whispered something to the bartender. The bartender, an older guy with dark hair and tattooed arms, looked over at us and then nodded back to Samuel.

I turned to ask Kylie what she thought of the guy, but she had already disappeared from my side and had made her way to a small booth. The lights in the room flashed as the music picked up, and people started to cheer and get lost further in the beat of the music.

I made my way over to the booth just as a waitress approached us with two drinks.

"Oh, we didn't order those," Kylie said, her voice raised so the waitress could hear her. The woman gave us both a friendly smile.

"All drinks are on the house tonight, courtesy of Lucifer, his apologies for not being able to accompany you tonight after inviting you here earlier today." My blood ran cold; my heart stopped beating, and I suddenly felt overly aware of my surroundings. Kylie gave me a worried glance before accepting the drinks from the waitress.

I scanned the room, looking for the man who had stopped me on the sidewalk earlier today. But I couldn't spot him through the cluster of dancing bodies and the flashing neon lights.

"He ins't here, Lil. The waitress just said so." Kylie said, trying her best to reassure me. I turned to her, unease sinking its claws into my skin. The sudden feeling of being watched makes my skin crawl.

"Isn't this just freaking you out a little, Ky? How Samuel knew our names or Lucifer knew we would be coming tonight. It all just screams dangerous to me." Kylie shrugged.

"They have cameras everywhere here, and Lucifer is one of the owners plus, he is clearly the guy you met on the sidewalk today. Like you said, he knew your name, so he most likely knew of you because of Eve. It's a small town, and her and Jenny's death has been the talk of the town. Plus, Gideon orders from our bakery all the time, so Gideon probably knows who I am, and they were flagged to give us the approval to enter." Kylie grabbed her working blue drink and pushed the other one toward me.

"You are just overthinking all of this. Nothing bad will happen. Especially not now that Eve isn't here to bully you anymore. So down your drink, let's get lost in the music and lose ourselves on the dancefloor, and once you've shaken off those nerves, we can explore the seven deadly sins." She shot me a wink before tossing back her entire drink in one go. I blew out a breath, Kylie's explanation making much more sense than my own. Of course, someone as rich as these men would have top security and know every person who went in and out of their place.

She was right; I was overthinking this, probably because of the years of trauma Eve had bestowed upon me through all her forms of bullying and abuse.

"Fuck it," I shouted as I grabbed my drink and tossed it back. The rich flavours of blackberries and mint hit my tongue as I swallowed down the entire glass. Kylie cheered me as I went.

I slammed my glass down on the table, standing up.

"Let's go lose ourselves." Kylie laughed as she pulled me onto the dancefloor.

I don't know how long we had danced. The time seemed to blend together as each song passed. Kylie and I stopped a few times to grab some more drinks before we started dancing again. I felt high on life as the buzz of the alcohol filled my senses. The music sounded farther away, and the lights seemed prettier than they had before. We dance with one another before finding partners to dance with. We were a mess of sweat, limbs, and drunken chaos as we all danced around each other.

Somehow I had gotten separated from Kylie and had found myself leaning up against a wall, my dance partner long gone. I expected to be welcomed by the cold embrace of the concrete wall against my bare skin, but I was surprised when I brushed against soft velvety material instead. It was black, so I hadn't noticed it before, but as I looked around the room, it was easier to spot. I also spotted seven passages  I hadn't noticed before, each with a sign above them stating what sin they belonged to.

"Greed is everyone's first choice, but if you're looking for a memorable experience, you should really visit Pride." I gasped in surprise, looking up to find a man who seemed to appear out of nowhere.

The man flashed me a smile, his crystal blue eyes lighting up with excitement as he pushed off the wall turning his body, so he was entirely facing me. He towered over me, his muscular body filling out his perfectly tailored suit. His brown hair was pushed back, not a hair out of place. Whoever this guy was, he clearly put a lot of time into his appearance.

I arched a brow at him, the alcohol in my system giving me a little more confidence than usual.

"Oh really, and how can you be sure it's the most memorable room here? Who's to say Lust, Gluttony, or any other room isn't better?" I asked, taking a step toward him. Something flashed across his face, but he blinked it away before I could figure out what it was.

He let out a deep chuckle, leaning down until his mouth brushed against my ear. I felt my heart skip as a spark ignited in my core. He smelled like expensive cologne and bad decisions, and I found myself wanting to have a taste of whatever it was he could offer me.

"If you're so sure of yourself, then how about we put my words to the test? If I'm wrong, then I'll let you enjoy whatever the other rooms have to offer. But if I am right, then you are mine to do with whatever I wish for the rest of the evening." The man stepped away from me, giving me a sly smile.

"Whatever you wish?" I asked, not liking the sound of that at all.

"I promise you will enjoy it just as much as I will. So what do you say, do we have ourselves a deal?" I bit my lower lip, not sure why I was even considering this.

The guy was a total stranger; he could be a killer for all I knew. Maybe he was even the guy who killed my sister, and this is how he found his next victim.

'Or he is just a hot guy looking to get laid. Just like we so desperately need.' The voice in my head chimed in once again.

"I am here with a friend. She will get worried if I'm gone too long." I muttered, ignoring the voice in my head; she always turned into a thirsty bitch when I drank, and I didn't need that right now. Not from anyone in Teivel anyways, even if they were just visiting and I probably would never see them again.

"You mean that friend right there?" The guy asked, pointing out Kylie, who was sucking face with some random guy on the dancefloor.

"I don't think she will even notice that you're gone. Besides, if you're right, you will only be gone for a few minutes." The guy reasoned.

I was only here for one more night, and Kylie was right; I needed to let go and get lost in myself for once. I let out a deep breath.

"I don't even know your name," I said in one last ditched effort to get out of this, albeit it was a feeble excuse.

"The names Perseus and yours?" Perseus asked in return.

"Lilith," I answered.

"Nice to meet you, Lilith. Now you in, or are you too chicken when it comes to taking risks?" Perseus prodded, and I caved, not liking what he was suggesting.

"Gods above, I can't believe I'm agreeing to this. I must be out of my mind." Perseus's smile grew wider.

"Fine, you have yourself a deal." I finally answered.

"Well, then, Lilith. I believe it's time you follow me."
