Zoe

“Oh, my God, Daddy. Right there. Fuck yeah,” I groaned. I was being rewarded for saving Elijah’s life with a massage. I’d received massages before, but this massage was hitting differently. “Harder,” I moaned.

“Mama, you’re gonna have to stop moaning like that, or I won’t be able to hold myself back,” Elijah warned.

“I don’t want you to. I’ve been trying to tell you that,” I whined into the pillow.

“Mama, it’s not safe. I think you’re more injured than we realized. The doctor said you would be sore for a few days, but you can barely walk. I had to carry you upstairs.”

“You know, if I had something stronger than two 325mg tabs of Tylenol, then I would be able to walk,” I huffed.

“I’ll roll you a joint in a little bit if you stop complaining. It’ll help with the pain.”

I popped my head up from the pillow. I wished I could turn around to stare Elijah dead in his eyes as he repeated that statement. “I thought you didn’t like when I smoked?” I incredulously asked.

ZoeThe brunch with Elijah and my friends went...as expected. Samuel warmed up to Elijah quickly, but Brianna remained the Ice Queen throughout most of brunch. It didn’t bother me any because I was on Cloud 9. I had a designated driver, a bottomless pitcher of mimosas, and chicken and waffles in front of me. After a while, she realized that her attitude wasn’t making anyone uncomfortable but herself and apologized to Elijah. She must’ve gotten tired of everyone talking over her like she didn’t exist.Sammy and Brianna caught me up on all the juicy gossip I missed and a couple of parties they had hit up over the weekend. I lost interest after a few moments and decided to gaze at Elijah’s profile as he feigned interest in Brianna, bragging about how many Jell-O shots she consumed in an hour. He must’ve felt my heated gaze through my sunglasses and squeezed my thigh underneath the table, causing me to jump slightly. His hand traveled towards my inner thighs, and he rested his fingers com

  • Party Animals   One-Minute Man

**Elijah**It wasn’t my intention to scare Zoe or make her uncomfortable with my declaration last night, but she asked, and I answered her truthfully. I needed to tell her that I was serious about us and that I wasn’t playing with her time or emotions. I was too old to play games. I would wait for her as long as I knew she was just as serious about us as I was. By the age of 25, she should have matured and hopefully be open to the idea of settling down.Even though I claimed her as mine the night before and put her on notice, I still realized that I needed to “define the relationship.”I have to put that shit in black and white, so there’s no confusion on her part.I planned on getting out of bed and cooking Zoe breakfast when her phone began to ring. I let it go to voicemail, but it didn’t surprise me when the caller kept calling back. It was either one of her bonehead friends on the line, or Officer Matheson truly didn’t learn his lesson. I was tempted to answer it, but I didn’t wan

**Elijah**I crossed the street and could hear his voice steadily rising. Can I help you?” I asked as I approached them.“Daddy, can you please get rid of him?” Zoe whined. “He woke me up when he kept ringing the doorbell.”“I think you should leave,” I firmly demanded.“Not until I get an explanation for her injuries,” Officer Matheson spat. Zoe and I both looked at him with an air of confusion. Where is all this entitlement coming from?“Mama, are you sure you didn’t sleep with him?”“I’m more than certain I didn’t,” Zoe dryly responded.“Sorry, Mama. I had to ask because he ain’t acting right.”“You two can stop talking over me like I’m not here. Was the sex not kinky enough for you? Did you escalate to hitting on her to get off?”“Wow, okay. First of all, you’re way off base...again. Second of all, the only man Zoe owes an explanation to is me, and I’d appreciate it if you exited her property and not return, or your superiors will hear from me. I let that shit slide the first time

  • Party Animals   Talking about the Future

**Elijah**I finally got Zoe settled and in bed with a heating pad because she had complained earlier of back pain. She forced me to stay in bed with her until she passed out and whined every time I made a move to leave. For someone who says she doesn’t want me here, she sure isn’t behaving like it.She could try to put on a front, but I had already figured her out, and she had already expressed last night that she felt something for me as well, so there was no sense in Zoe putting up a fight any longer. The buzzing of my phone distracted me from my deep thoughts regarding my situationship. I sighed at Michael’s name, which appeared on the screen. He had texted several times last night and this morning to check on Zoe, but I was still too angry to speak to him.“What?” I answered in a harsh whisper, not wanting to wake Zoe up.“I know you’re mad, and you have every right to be, but can we talk?”“Sure.” I patiently waited for Michael to say whatever he had to say, but it never came.“H

  • Party Animals   Zoe's Release

**Zoe**“Mama, please eat breakfast so you can take your pain meds and we can go home.”“This food is literally slop,” I complained with a look of disgust on my face.“Fine, just eat the damn banana and drink the milk so we can go,” he sighed.“What’s the rush?”“I just don’t want to spend more time here than necessary. Honestly, you should be trying to run up out of here. Do you even have medical insurance? You know that the longer you’re here, the higher your hospital bill?”“Of course, I have medical insurance. What kind of irresponsible asshole do you take me for?”“One who gets flung off of horses she should’ve never been on,” Elijah drawled.I narrowed my eyes at him and angrily peeled the banana. He thinks he’s sooooo clever.I shoved half of the banana in my mouth and followed it with a swig of milk. “Done,” I announced with a mouth full of banana and milk dripping down my chin.He took a deep breath, picked up a napkin from my breakfast tray, and wiped my face. “You'd better
