Chapter 34

“It was the same night as the other nights. I was exploring Tomer Forest with the Pixies. Not many voices were heard that night. However, there was one strange voice that entered my ear. It sounded like a baby crying. With that only sign, I followed the direction of the sound which led me to a simple house at the mouth of the forest. I had never been to the human frontier since becoming a Falsies, so I was quite surprised to see the house there. The window of one of the rooms opened, and I walked over to it immediately. An old woman and a young man carrying a boy can be seen surrounding the woman who is lying on the bed, with a tiny baby in her lap."

“They all smiled happily, even though the woman lying on the bed looked tired. When it stopped crying, the baby slowly opened its eyes, revealing large, shiny green irises, as if two emeralds were trapped in there. It the most beautiful eye color I've ever seen, and it made my body feel a heart attack-like sensation.
