LOGINAria's POV
The truck stopped, and I glanced out at the vast expanse of the tundra, also known as the bone forest, since all that was there were the hollow, dead trees, weeds, and scattered remains of the dead cast out there. Apprehension filled me as I was drop-kicked from the truck bed then ordered to enter the cursed lands empty-handed and barely clothed. Glaring back at the guards I told them that I would return for my revenge making them both chuckle at me. “If you cross back onto these pack lands you will have hunters sent after you, Aria. Don't be foolish,” the guard grunted as he went to the passenger seat. I was surely a pathetic sight but rage was flowing within my veins over Ronan's treatment of me and the disregard for my mother's sacrifice. Exhaling deeply I stepped over the threshold and entered the cursed land and looked back at the truck driving off. Gauging the location of my shack I ran in that direction. “I'll be damned if I leave my mother's blade,” I growled as I jumped over a fallen log. Seeing movement on the Ironclaw lands I could see guards installing more trail cameras along the Ironclaw border as I neared the cleared field with my shack perched within it. My eyes narrowed at a familiar face exiting my shack with a knapsack. Nathan carried what I assumed were my meager items close to the border but propped them against a tree stump on the pack lands. Pinching my lips I furrowed my brow at the trail camera pointing at it. “What game is he playing?” I murmured then covered my gasp as he stuck my dagger into the stump beside the bag. Raising his eyes he scanned the area before shaking his head then turning to leave. I was downwind so my scent was not present, he had taught me well as I waited for the coast to clear. The moment they cleared out, I stepped cautiously to retrieve my belongings, and just as I hoisted the bag strap over my shoulder, I pulled my knife, I heard the cocking of guns and a low warning growl. “Freeze, trespasser!” A hunter shouted. “Not today,” I responded, then rushed across the border. Bullets whizzed past me as I hightailed it through the unfamiliar terrain. Glancing over my shoulder I cursed at seeing them following after me. The rifle continued being fired and I winced because a bullet hit me in my left shoulder. It caused me to lose my footing and I stumbled into some thick brush right into a meeting of two individuals. An old woman with a missing eye looked at me with intrigue and then a rough, handsome man with golden eyes grabbed me before I fell face-first into the fire they were gathered around. “Let me weave a magic ward to block the bastards,” the old crone asserted and started chanting. “Let me show myself and they will run away with their tales between their legs,” the man boasted and I cringed. “Take care of her, she is injured,” the old woman huffed angrily and started chanting again. “I've been shot and am losing blood,” I explained to the golden-eyed man who held me. He examined my injury and appeared baffled. “Your wound has been cauterized on the inside as well as out and isn't bleeding,” he asserted in bewilderment. “Oh,” I mumbled before I fainted. “I told you something special was on its way Alpha,” I overheard the old crone telling the golden-eyed man when I awoke. They were both eyeing my sigil with interest. Narrowing my eyes at the guy I muttered questionably, “You're an Alpha?” Glancing around his side I noticed a hare roasting on a spit over the fire and pinched my mouth. “You're men have been stealing from my snare traps,” I asserted, giving him pause. “I am Darian and she is Hella, my advisor,” he said while I eyed him with indifference. “Okay, but I didn't ask. Where are my things?” I looked around for my knapsack and knife with concern since I couldn't see either. “You speak to me, an Alpha so freely? I can see why you were discarded onto these cursed lands,” Darian growled and I stood to go search for my bag. “If you will excuse me I want to get on something other than this,” I explained as I tugged on the man's shirt I wore. “Come with us to my territory and you can find clothing there. It's not that far from here.” Shaking my head I exhaled sharply. “I need my mother's knife. It's all that I have left of her,” I stated honestly as I looked straight into his unusual eyes. “I will find it for you, if you join us,” he asserted as he offered me his welcoming hand. I didn't place my hand within his. I was overly cautious having heard rumors about the rogues that inhabited these lands. “Do you know how your wound cauterized itself?” he asked bluntly. “No sir, I don't. All I know for certain is that I am different from other wolves,” I mumbled and continued to search for my dagger. “Stop pussy footing around and give it back to her, Alpha,” Hella hissed and my eyes widened at Darian reaching behind himself and pulling out my weapon, handing it over hilt first. “Thank you,” I muttered as I held it close to my chest and added, “I will join you both, it's not like I have any other options.” Hella reached her wrinkled hand out and patted my hand. “You're a one in a thousand years kind of wolf and your presence has put a pep in my step,” she cackled. “Great,” I muttered as I decided to follow after the odd pair.Princess Aella Durin's pov I woke to Katerina sitting on the edge of the mattress and furrowed my brow. “Where's Lark?” Startled, she stood quickly and wrung her hands. “Oh you have finally awakened, um Lark wants me to take you back to your room at the castle after you get dressed in that so that you can make your mother's acceptance party,” Katrina mumbled as she pointed down at a stunning black gown on the bed. Raising my brow, I asked her again about Lark's whereabouts, and she pursed her lips. “He went to inform his mom that he and I aren't interested in each other…and that you and he are now marked, mates.” “Oh,” I said as I rubbed his mark that was covering my neck and arm. “That is really lovely,” Katrina commented and I smiled. “Do all elves have the gift of teleportation?” Nodding slowly she told me that all elves regardless of status had gifts. “I will get changed and then you can transport me,” I mumbled, making her grin and nod. Slipping the gown o
Aria's pov Seeing my heartbroken daughter head off into the forest I narrowed my eyes at the haughty elf queen. “I feel that couples who love each other should take precedence over arranged marriage,” I asserted, and Elara instantly got offended. “Lark is the future throne holder, his queen must be top-notch and not a mongrel. Lark is reckless in his young age,” she snapped and I pinched my mouth and thanked Frost for excusing us then pulling me away from the uppity bitch. “Goddess what a piece of work. I feel bad for Lark knowing that it is his mother and can understand why he lived at Balder's,” I muttered out of earshot, making Frost raise his eyebrow. “I'm curious about where Aella ran off to. Not everyone knows that she's the daughter of their new Queen.” I glared at him and asked if she was in danger, making him close his eyes briefly. Two of my newest guards discovered a female experiencing her heat but were run off by a dark shadow and threatened. I grinned slightly an
Princess Aella Durin's pov Getting manhandled and slapped around by both men I growled sourly only to have my dress torn to expose that I hadn’t worn any undergarments. Hearing one of them unzip their pants I pleaded with the Goddess to send help. I was forced face down on top of a shorter boulder and felt the bastard's excitement poking against my inner thigh. Just as I was about to shift into my wolf I felt a whoosh of air then peace. I looked around and was alone. I tried to fix my dress so it covered my exposed chest, but I was failing miserably. A shift in the air happened and I blinked my damp eyes at seeing Lark standing there. I quickly grabbed his jacket and pulled him to me. I climbed up his frame, holding on to him for dear life then sobbed. “Don't marry that elf. We are mates,” I mumbled sullenly as he rubbed my back and returned the hug. “Were you injured? Why didn't you use your fire or ice,” he asked calmly. Shaking my head I growled, “I couldn'
Princess Aella Durin's pov Lark didn’t return to me and we are now all residing at Frost's amazing castle, along with a huge village entirely of werewolves and dark elves. Brownies were the castle's housekeepers and the small creatures were a delight. It had taken a couple of weeks to arrive, and once we did, my mother was greeted with much love. A large celebration is still being planned for her becoming Frost's Queen. I'm currently in my enormous suite with my brownie and elf staff who remind me of Lark and his parents. They are infatuated with me and my fae mark. I have grown closest to my personal helper, Briar, who is a mix of elf and brownie, and I am currently sitting with her. I've asked her about my scroll mark and she told me that it meant I was an ally of the forest fae and given their blessings and perhaps a bit of fae magic. “I can't believe that the dark elf prince is your mate. He disliked everyone and was especially arrogant to those who weren't of the fae l
Princess Aella Durin's pov Sitting with the witch sisters, I was sad to see my mom return empty-handed, but she explained that Landon would remain with Nathan to fulfill Jasper's request. My eyes widened at seeing Lark standing and blending in with the shadows. My heart tightened in my chest as I furrowed my brows at him. “Mister Skinner, how interesting to have you return to our motley group,” I asserted firmly. He looked alarmed and his eyes darted away from me as he scurried off leaving me pouting. “Why does he hate me when I believe that he is my mate?” I muttered sourly watching as he climbed up MY ladder and ducked into the cave I was using. “Looks like he followed his senses and went to your cave,” Wisdom snickered as I rolled my eyes determined to discover what he was up to. I stormed up my ladder and entered my cave to see Lark standing with his arms crossed in the deeper shadows. “Of course, this is where you are sleeping,” He muttered tiredly. “Hmm, I kno
Frost Ulfhedinn’s pov Following Aria's son's scent I traveled down the path. The water was to my calves as I ran down the narrow gulch. Scanning the rocky sides I searched for an easy escape from the path. Knowing that I could easily make the jump if needed I wasn't too concerned as I continued north. Thankfully, I stepped out of the rising waters and onto firmer ground several miles later. The runoff water collected in a huge lake, and I had lost the scent on my side. “It appears that I will be swimming to the other side,” I muttered sourly watching the water rushing from the gulch down into the lake. I eyed the area for a way across. Reaching the other side of the lake I sniffed around and caught the scent of the boy along with a fire and cooking meat. Hearing voices speaking about Aria and me I slowed my steps and listened in disbelief. “Your mother has forsaken your father's memory by getting involved with the Ice Frost King. She should have come to me. I am her
