LOGINDarian’s pov
Grabbing my meal off the fire, I held the stick while the meat cooled. “Have you got my bag hidden by chance?” Grinning slightly I gestured toward the crushed vegetation she had plowed through and said, “It's probably where you dropped it.” Aria's cheeks reddened as she spied her bag and announced she was going to find an area to change. The moment she was gone Hella cleared her throat. “She could be the Sacred Shewolf but I can't be certain of it since I don't think she's had her first shift. She has Phoenix blood if her wound is cauterized but neither her unique blood nor firewolf has awakened fully.” Exhaling deeply, I tore off a piece of meat and handed it to Hella. “My lower regions have stirred and my heart skipped a beat. She could be my mate but hasn't given any indication of acknowledging it,” I mumbled reluctantly, causing the old witch to cackle uproariously. Narrowing my eyes at her she sobered, shook her head, and said, “Your Beta, Mora won't be pleased. She's been in your bed for years waiting for you to make her your Luna. She is jealous that her cousin Chloe will be marrying the soon-to-be Alpha Ronan.” Hearing Aria returning I put my index finger to my lips to quiet my advisor. Aria looked like a mystical warrior dressed in a tooled leather corset top and black jeans. I was impressed but her warrior ranking arm cuffs confused me. “Were you part of the Alpha's personal guard?” Eyeing me warily she shook her head and explained that her mom had been and that she was wearing her uniform for protection. “Want to tell me why you were sent across into this wasteland?” I pried and she shook her head then gave me a curt, “Nope.” Feeling her desire to end my questioning I tore off a bit of the roasted meat to offer to her. Her fingers took it from me delicately as she thanked me. “We must keep traveling so we get to my territory before the forsaken try to attack us,” I explained urgently. She didn't seem concerned and just shrugged while she gestured for me to continue onward. Stepping forward I paused momentarily and glanced at Aria. “Do you know who your father is?” She seemed insulted by my inquiry and growled, "No." My wolf Amoux, was as perplexed as I was with our newest guest. “I can't sense her wolf but I know she has one,” he growled sternly in my mind. Seeing my castle home in the distance, I grinned slightly at the sight, and Aria gasped. “Your pack house is in a castle?!” “Yeah, I became the rogue Alpha after defeating the castaways. There are members from the Ironclaw Pack who are now my subjects,” I explained nonchalantly and she eyed me strangely. “Aren't you concerned about a pack waging war against you and your land?” Hella started laughing before she said, “No one wants this cursed land or the wolves cast upon it.” “ALPHA!” I cringed at hearing Mora calling out at me and peered over at Aria, narrowing her eyes in Mora's direction. “Why is Chloe here?” Aria questioned and Hella answered, “That's Mora, Chloe's cousin. They are very similar, in looks and attitude.” The young woman's eyebrow raised as she watched Mora rush up before me then wrap her arms around my neck. I exhaled sharply while she planted a possessive kiss on the corner of my lips. “We have a new guest, Mora, please behave appropriately,” I asserted firmly and her eyes glared daringly at Aria. “Not another stray…which pack were you banished from?” She asked Aria but the young woman remained tight-lipped and shook her head refusing to answer. Shrieking Mora blurted, “I bet she's a criminal and I'm going to find out if she is right this instant. GUARDS!” Looking at her and the strangers coming towards her with her cousin Chloe in tow I glanced at Aria's frown. Not wanting Aria to be taken away I was surprised by Hella pulling on my arm and shaking her head at me. “She must be reborn,” my ancient sage whispered and I crossed my arms as Aria was bound by chains and being prepared to be returned to the Ironclaw Pack. Mora looked delighted with herself as she slithered back to my side and boasted about how I was so easily blinded by a sob story. “I heard she killed her own mother and Luna then seduced the Alpha," she mumbled and I eyed her incredulously not believing a single word of it. Before the Ironclaw guards could haul her back I asked what the plans were. Both guards eyed each other and the one I asked said, “She's accused of using a mate bewitchment spell on our Alpha and crossing onto the pack lands after being banished. Um, she will be burned at the stake either later today or tomorrow morning.” I knew Ronan was cruel but damn. Then again if Aria was the Sacred Shewolf flames would break her out. Chloe snickered and added it was her idea to see her fry in fire. Disgusted with that I peered at Aria and furrowed my brow at the sight of her. Instead of sobbing uncontrollably like a scared woman I saw anger and revenge swirling in her amber eyes. She was a steadfast warrior. “Are you certain she is carrying phoenix blood, Hella?” “Most definitely, Alpha.” They took Aria but I would watch to see if she indeed awakened her phoenix blood and was the Sacred Shewolf that Hella and I believed her to be.Princess Aella Durin's pov I woke to Katerina sitting on the edge of the mattress and furrowed my brow. “Where's Lark?” Startled, she stood quickly and wrung her hands. “Oh you have finally awakened, um Lark wants me to take you back to your room at the castle after you get dressed in that so that you can make your mother's acceptance party,” Katrina mumbled as she pointed down at a stunning black gown on the bed. Raising my brow, I asked her again about Lark's whereabouts, and she pursed her lips. “He went to inform his mom that he and I aren't interested in each other…and that you and he are now marked, mates.” “Oh,” I said as I rubbed his mark that was covering my neck and arm. “That is really lovely,” Katrina commented and I smiled. “Do all elves have the gift of teleportation?” Nodding slowly she told me that all elves regardless of status had gifts. “I will get changed and then you can transport me,” I mumbled, making her grin and nod. Slipping the gown o
Aria's pov Seeing my heartbroken daughter head off into the forest I narrowed my eyes at the haughty elf queen. “I feel that couples who love each other should take precedence over arranged marriage,” I asserted, and Elara instantly got offended. “Lark is the future throne holder, his queen must be top-notch and not a mongrel. Lark is reckless in his young age,” she snapped and I pinched my mouth and thanked Frost for excusing us then pulling me away from the uppity bitch. “Goddess what a piece of work. I feel bad for Lark knowing that it is his mother and can understand why he lived at Balder's,” I muttered out of earshot, making Frost raise his eyebrow. “I'm curious about where Aella ran off to. Not everyone knows that she's the daughter of their new Queen.” I glared at him and asked if she was in danger, making him close his eyes briefly. Two of my newest guards discovered a female experiencing her heat but were run off by a dark shadow and threatened. I grinned slightly an
Princess Aella Durin's pov Getting manhandled and slapped around by both men I growled sourly only to have my dress torn to expose that I hadn’t worn any undergarments. Hearing one of them unzip their pants I pleaded with the Goddess to send help. I was forced face down on top of a shorter boulder and felt the bastard's excitement poking against my inner thigh. Just as I was about to shift into my wolf I felt a whoosh of air then peace. I looked around and was alone. I tried to fix my dress so it covered my exposed chest, but I was failing miserably. A shift in the air happened and I blinked my damp eyes at seeing Lark standing there. I quickly grabbed his jacket and pulled him to me. I climbed up his frame, holding on to him for dear life then sobbed. “Don't marry that elf. We are mates,” I mumbled sullenly as he rubbed my back and returned the hug. “Were you injured? Why didn't you use your fire or ice,” he asked calmly. Shaking my head I growled, “I couldn'
Princess Aella Durin's pov Lark didn’t return to me and we are now all residing at Frost's amazing castle, along with a huge village entirely of werewolves and dark elves. Brownies were the castle's housekeepers and the small creatures were a delight. It had taken a couple of weeks to arrive, and once we did, my mother was greeted with much love. A large celebration is still being planned for her becoming Frost's Queen. I'm currently in my enormous suite with my brownie and elf staff who remind me of Lark and his parents. They are infatuated with me and my fae mark. I have grown closest to my personal helper, Briar, who is a mix of elf and brownie, and I am currently sitting with her. I've asked her about my scroll mark and she told me that it meant I was an ally of the forest fae and given their blessings and perhaps a bit of fae magic. “I can't believe that the dark elf prince is your mate. He disliked everyone and was especially arrogant to those who weren't of the fae l
Princess Aella Durin's pov Sitting with the witch sisters, I was sad to see my mom return empty-handed, but she explained that Landon would remain with Nathan to fulfill Jasper's request. My eyes widened at seeing Lark standing and blending in with the shadows. My heart tightened in my chest as I furrowed my brows at him. “Mister Skinner, how interesting to have you return to our motley group,” I asserted firmly. He looked alarmed and his eyes darted away from me as he scurried off leaving me pouting. “Why does he hate me when I believe that he is my mate?” I muttered sourly watching as he climbed up MY ladder and ducked into the cave I was using. “Looks like he followed his senses and went to your cave,” Wisdom snickered as I rolled my eyes determined to discover what he was up to. I stormed up my ladder and entered my cave to see Lark standing with his arms crossed in the deeper shadows. “Of course, this is where you are sleeping,” He muttered tiredly. “Hmm, I kno
Frost Ulfhedinn’s pov Following Aria's son's scent I traveled down the path. The water was to my calves as I ran down the narrow gulch. Scanning the rocky sides I searched for an easy escape from the path. Knowing that I could easily make the jump if needed I wasn't too concerned as I continued north. Thankfully, I stepped out of the rising waters and onto firmer ground several miles later. The runoff water collected in a huge lake, and I had lost the scent on my side. “It appears that I will be swimming to the other side,” I muttered sourly watching the water rushing from the gulch down into the lake. I eyed the area for a way across. Reaching the other side of the lake I sniffed around and caught the scent of the boy along with a fire and cooking meat. Hearing voices speaking about Aria and me I slowed my steps and listened in disbelief. “Your mother has forsaken your father's memory by getting involved with the Ice Frost King. She should have come to me. I am her
