LOGINChapter 5
My eyes opened on their own at 4:45 a.m. as they did every morning for the past six years. I rolled out of bed, went to the bathroom, did my business, brushed my teeth and hair and was out on the porch getting ready to stretch for a morning run. Like clockwork, Ron and Tina were coming for morning calisthenics. We stretched and did a full perimeter run. I ran in my human form. My wolf, Freya, was around but she never presented herself to me. She spoke to me in my head, but she never came forth to shift. I still had all the strength, speed, heightened vision and hearing that a wolf had, but my wolf didn’t ever seem to want to come forth. She’d say, “Not time yet.” Tina ran in wolf form and Ron ran with me in human form. We ran for about 30 minutes when I stopped. I took a deep breath in and then I recognized the smell, rogues. I mindlinked Ron and Tina, who instinctively fell back into a defensive position. I told them to climb the nearest tree so we could surveil the area. With stealth and precision, we were in the trees in two seconds.
Ron spotted the rogues in the territory, there were eleven of them. They would be easily dispatched by either one of us. I mindlinked them both to watch for any signs of the leader or if there were any communication going on. Two rogues shifted into their human form and began talking.
“The females are supposed to be over there.” He pointed toward the packhouse.
“He wants them even younger. We need to hit the school next.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I attempted to mindlink Gael to inform him and I was met with a closed link. I mindlinked Lance who immediately went on alert. I told him where we were and what we heard, but I told him to not let on that they were assembling. We wanted to find out as much as we could and then bring the fight to them. I was pissed off at the audacity of these wolves to enter into a pack and just take what they wanted. I would show them they picked the wrong day.
“Let’s hurry up before they wake up, you know what we were told. She was adamant to get it done now.”
‘She. So, this was a bitch that betrayed the pack?’ I was livid. I was ready to tear them apart myself. Before I knew it, that’s exactly what I was doing. I jumped down from the tree behind all the rouges and extended my claws, which were longer and sharper than most, and tore the head off the first two as they were standing next to each other. This got the attention of the rest and they turned and charged at me. Four rogues tried to knock me down, but I jumped off the tree I was standing by and flipped over them slicing into two of them. I felt a bite on my leg, but I turned and swiped across the snout to the sound of a high whine and then being released. My leg started to heal, as I fought my way through, I could faintly hear the pack warriors coming. A wolf charged right at my face trying to bite my throat. I grabbed him by his throat and began closing off his windpipe. This was the one that spoke of getting little girls to bring back to him. I needed information.
“Who sent you?” his eyes were bulging out of his head. I slacked up a bit. “SHIFT Now!” I released my aura and felt his body shake as he was reduced to his human form. Now with more authority in my voice I said again, “Who are you working for?”
“I can’t. I can’t.”
“I didn’t ask what you could do, I asked who are you working for?” I released more of my aura, and heard the pack warriors come to a stop growling and ready to fight.
“Thaddeus Walters. He’s building an army.” He said breathlessly.
“Who’s giving you information here? Tell me!” I felt LaLa stop right behind me.
He choked out, “his daughter, Amy Walters.” I snapped his neck and dropped him where he was. I turned around and addressed the warriors. Lance heard what was said.
“Lance mindlink your Alpha and tell him that his Luna and her father are responsible for the rogue attacks and the kidnapping of the females.” You could see his eyes cloud over and he swore like he was blocked out as well.
I took off in a full run for the packhouse. I was going to give that “Alpha” a piece of my mind and arrest that bitch of a Luna. I mindlinked Ron telling him to clear the scene there and meet me back at the packhouse. Within ten minutes I was taking the stairs three at a time and kicking in the Alpha’s door. Him and Amy were in bed sleeping.
“You son of a bitch! I’ve been trying to mindlink you to tell you your pack was under attack. Why would you block everyone out? You’re this packs Alpha!” I was so pissed with him.
“What the hell Phoenix? Who the fuck do you think you are busting in my room shouting all this nonsense?”
“Who the fuck do I think I am? I am the one that fought off all the rouges on your territory and captured one, interrogated him on the spot and found out that your precious Luna is the one who has been leaking pack secrets and been the one responsible for the she-wolves abductions. Also, her father is the one trying to build an army to take you and your pathetic pack away from you!” I stormed out of their room. I heard him asking her what the hell was going on and what did I mean that she was the one responsible for the she-wolves being taken. It turned into a screaming match. I stood outside the door because Amy wasn’t going anywhere. The door flew open, and Gael stood in the doorway furious.
“What proof do you have?”
“My team, your warriors and your Beta. Ask any of them.”
His parents came out of their rooms in their robes asking what was going on.
“Major Greeley is accusing my Luna and father-in-law of treason.”
“Phoenix, what is going on?”
“Alpha Ryker I’ll tell you what’s going on. My team and I were working out this morning and we ran into rogues on the north end of the territory. We hid in the trees to find out whatever information we could. There were about ten rouges. I tried to mindlink the Alpha here, but he had his block up. I couldn’t reach him to notify him of the situation. Two rogues shifted and began talking and they spoke of how he was building an army to overtake this pack and that “she” had given the information on the she-wolves. The him is Thaddeus Walters, Amy Walters father. I killed him after I got all the information from him. I ended up mindlinking and reaching the Beta who came with warriors who were also privy to the information I heard.”
Alpha Ryker then shouted out for the guards to take Amy away for questioning.
“No No! Gael! Are you just going to let this bitch come in here and take over your pack?” I turned away furious at this shit show of a pack and Alpha and leapt off the porch and ran top speed back into the forest. I ran so fast the trees were a blur I could hear Ron and Tina running after me, but after I turned it up a notch and was running seemingly at the speed of light, they resorted to mindlinking me. This time I blocked it and ran to the one place I knew would calm my spirit. The lake.
I sat on the edge of the lake breathing deeply and struggling to calm my rage and my temper from a nuclear sized explosion. I looked at how the water was so still it looked like a picture. I could feel my sanity return as I knew what would happen if I let my temper run free.
Chapter 71“Eden do you remember what you did to Gael to make him lose Ronan?” Tolina asked. She looked thoughtfully. “Yes, I remember I climbed on his back.”“Gael, come over here let her do what she did before.” Tolina was waving him over and he had a look on his face like he really wasn’t feeling it.“Honey, are you okay with this?” I asked him. He looked at me like I was asking him to have sex with her. “Alright.” I held my hand up to stop him and make him tell me what was up.“Phee, first of all it was painful, second she jumped on my back and had one hand on my head and the other between my shoulder blades. It was not something I’d want to repeat.” I mindlinked him.‘Gael what are you not telling me?’‘She was basically straddling me. I’ll be alright, as long as I can get Ronan back, I’ll do whatever it takes, but it was not comfortable at all.’ I smiled at my mate.“Let’s do this.” I said with authority.“Okay Gael come on and stand here, and Eden come and do what you did befor
Chapter 70Gael turned his head so fast, I heard the crack in his neck. The gasps that came from the peanut gallery that now seemed to be back in real time rose in the air like balloons soaring toward the heavens. I, however, was not moved by this new information due to the fact that it was coming from a witch bred liar.“If you wanted to meet the Moon Goddess faster all you had to do is ask; but you bringing up my Ronan’s name is a death wish I’m giving out today!” I went to reach for her, and Gael grabbed me from behind and held me while speaking in my ear.“Phee, let’s listen to what she has to say. If she’s lying, she’s right here, if she isn’t we could get Ronan back.” As he spun me around to look me in the eye. It helped I still heard her coughing and clearing her throat behind me, so I knew she wasn’t going anywhere. When I looked him fully in the eye, I noticed his whole being seemed to change; there was a lightness, a buoyancy in his aura, and then it dawned on me what it was
Chapter 69Watching my daughter lose control like Phoenix did, broke my heart. I understood, but it broke my heart, nonetheless. I knew she was running on instinct, adrenaline, hate and pure unadulterated wrath; and I, for the life of me, couldn’t stop her. Part of me didn’t want to.I’d felt and heard the cries of my grandsons, felt my daughter shatter under the weight of war and loss, but I didn’t want to see her sacrifice her sanity over something that may have a resolution. Before all the mayhem began, I sensed from Eden that she was genuine in wanting to help and had a plan to begin to fix all that she had broken.I didn’t know how or what she could do to fix this mess but killing her seemed a little extreme. She was like Phoenix, albeit not as powerful, but an Ulfheonar no less.I felt Sophia grab my hand and I felt the charge between us and when she turned to me I knew she felt it too; an overwhelming sense of peace and love that warmed me from the inside out.Speaking of charg
Chapter 68Sophia’s POVThe shit was about to hit the fan. I could feel it in my bones that Phoenix was unstoppable right now. She is the apex predator, the highest level of power and she had Eden in her sights. It was just too much. The loss of her pup, then Ronan and the pack members that perished was just her pot boiling over.I crept up behind my mother-in-law to amplify her power with a little of my own. At least that’s what I was trying to do. Right when Phoenix showed up, it was like the universe announced her arrival. That’s what happens when an Ulfheonar has reached the highest level, the elements bow to their will.I held on to Lance and reached for Cher and when we touched hands, I felt an overwhelming feeling of peace and love overflow into me. I looked at her and she mindlinked me that everything would be alright; and I believed her.Phoenix didn’t look like herself, she was so laser focused on Eden, I could feel the fury rolling off her in waves; and I mean waves, ripple
Chapter 67Phoenix stood at the bathroom sink splashing water on her face. After another exhausting sexual session with Gael she was wrung out and ready for the longest nap ever. Her boys were really rambunctious today, kicking and moving. The only time they are truly calm is when their parents are engaged in sexual activities and today they are playing in the World cup, the Superbowl and the Finals.“Gael, come here please!” she had to keep the rising panic out of her voice because she knew Gael would come in hot and be on ten. Of course, he came rushing in.“Phee, you okay baby? What’s wrong? Why are you looking so pale?”“The boys are really active right now. I need to sit down.” The boys weren’t active; they were on a rampage. She knew if she told Gael that she’d be on her way to Doc Simmons or he’d be on his way to them. She couldn’t figure out what was going on, but she could feel something in the atmosphere wasn’t right. Gael sat her down and looked her over like she was in a ca
Chapter 66A week went by and nobody heard a peep from Gael and Phoenix. They rekindled their love in every way, albeit Gael being gentle with Phoenix until she demanded that he love her the way she needed. When he gave her what she wanted, he was glad they were way out in the woods because her screams and moans made even the animals blush. In between the sexual marathon that seemed to be an everyday event the Alpha couple took the time to take long walks in the woods, swim in the lake and sit, hugged up by the fireplace at night before being entangled with each other deep in slumber.Gael stood in the kitchen making himself some strong coffee and tea for Phoenix and was overcome with despair. He missed Ronan. He felt the loss so profoundly, the void inside, especially when him and Phoenix were close. He could tell that she missed Ronan as well, the way she’d snuggle close and sigh; it wasn’t a contented sigh, but one of longing and missing a piece of you that was mercilessly taken aw
