Chapter 46

Brittany’s POV

My driver sped up on the road knowing that I had to get to my location on time.

Something came up so I'd meet the nurse the next day and finally learn the truth about Pink’s real identity. But today was about Darcy. I needed something urgent since the gala is fast approaching.

I fixed my red lipstick in my compact mirror. Bold. Confidence. The kind of red that said I was here to win.

“Ma’am, we’re approaching Rodrigo Industries,” my driver said.

“Good. Park in the executive lot.”

“That’s reserved for…”

“I know who it’s reserved for,” I interrupted. “Soon, I’ll be Mrs. Rodrigo. Park there.”

He didn’t argue.

The glass-and-steel building towered above us—Darcy’s empire. Soon, it would be ours.

I stepped out, heels clicking sharply. My bodyguard, Theo, followed close. I brought him to stop Mark or anyone who tried to block me from entering Darcy's office, and I wasn’t in the mood to be stopped.

I didn’t answer the receptionist who was calling me back and moved straight for the private elevator.

“Miss Hawthorne!” she called. “You need to sign—”

I moved with Theo to the elevator area. Then, Theo pressed the elevator button. The doors opened instantly, as if the building knew I belonged.

As the elevator went up the building, I took a deep breath. This wasn’t just about seduction, it was about reminding Darcy what he’d lost, and what he could still have and whenever he likes it or not, I'm taking what's rightfully mine by force.

When the doors opened, I saw Mark, working on his laptop outside Darcy’s office. Immediately he saw me, he stood up quickly rushing to stop me.

“Miss Brittany," he called, "Do you have an appointment?”

“I don’t need one.” I walked right past him.

“Mr. Rodrigo is in a meeting,” he said, stepping in front of me.

“Move.”

“Miss Brittany Hawthorne—”

Theo took one step forward. “The lady said move.”

That was all it took for me to enter. I pushed open Darcy’s office door and walked in like I owned the place or yes... about to.

Darcy was on a video call with his business client. He was surprised when he saw me.

“Darcy, I need to see you. Now,” I said firmly.

The woman on the screen blinked, confused. Mark appeared behind me, flustered.

“Sir, I tried to stop her Sir...”

Darcy raised a hand. “It’s fine, Mark.” He turned to the woman and smiled, “Rachel, we’ll talk later.”

The call ended. Darcy shut his laptop and looked at me, his jaw tight.

“Everyone out,” he said.

Mark paused, then obeyed, closing the door behind him.

Now, it was just the both of us.

Darcy crossed his arms still seated. “ Brittany What are you doing?”

"Darcy, we need to talk, It's urgent.”

“No, we don’t. You can’t just show up anytime and demand we talk.”he said, "I have work to attend to."

“Why not? We’re getting married soon, Darcy.”

“We’re not getting married.”

“Your parents seem to think otherwise.”

“My parents don’t make my decisions,” he snapped. “And neither do you.”

I smiled coolly. “You say that like you believe it.”

“State what you want?”

“I want to understand why... ,” I said, stepping closer.

"Why what?" He cuts in.

“Why are you fighting this? Why won't you give us another chance?”

“You know why.”

“Do I?” I said softly. “Because I think you’re just scared. You don't want to get married”

He laughed bitterly. “ How dare you stand here and tell me what I feel? Brittany I was engaged to you years ago, loved you but what did you do? You fucked your bestie on our vacation, got pregnant and when i thought we'd get back together because of those babies, you aborted them without my consent. So don't you ever lecture me about being scared of marriage."

The words cut deep, but I mask it up. “That was in the past, Darcy. I made so many crazy decisions. It was a mistake. And I'm no longer the old Brittany.”

“Have you?” he asked coldly. “Because barging into my office like this doesn’t look very different.”

“The old Brittany loved you,” I said quietly. “And the new one still does.”

His eyes seemed soft, but then it hardened again. “I forgave you. But I didn’t forget.”

“How long Darcy? How long will I continue to pay for the debts of the past?” I said in a shaky voice that sounded desperate with a bit of anger “It’s been three years.”

“ You see Bri. I don’t want anything from you. Stop wasting your time. ,” he said, turning to the window. “I just want to move on.”

“With her?” The words came out,I couldn’t stop them.

He turned. “What?”

“Adrian,” I said, my tone sharp. “Is that why you won’t come back to me? Because you’ve fallen for your daughter’s nanny?”

“Don’t be ridiculous.”

“I’m not.” I took a step closer. “I see how you looked at her in the picture. She’s more than an employee to you.”

“That lady is Pink’s nanny, and doesn’t mean anything to me,” he said through clenched teeth.

But I could hear the lie in his words.

“You want her, Darcy,” I said. “You've never looked at a woman like that before not to talk about a common nanny or maybe you’ve already had her. Have you fucked her before?”

“That’s enough, Brittany.”

“Then tell me I’m wrong. Look me in the eye Darcy and tell me that all I'm saying is a bluff.”

He met my eyes, composed. But said nothing. His silence was answer enough.

I smiled faintly. “Thought so.”

I softened my tone. “Remember the Hamptons? Before everything went wrong? We were happy then.”

“Yes we were but that was a long time ago.”

“It doesn’t have to be anymore, I promise.” I brushed his arm. He didn’t move away. “We could have that again.”

“I don’t want the same life anymore.”

“Don’t you?” My hand slid up his arm. “You don’t want a woman who understands your world? Someone who could love Pink as her own?”

At the mention of his daughter, his expression faltered.

“You barely know her,” he said.

“But I want to,” I said quickly. “I want to be a mother to her. I want to give you more children. I want to build the family we planned.”

“After you killed the last ones?” His voice was sharp as glass.

I flinched at his harsh words “I wasn’t ready back then. But I am now.”

“Why now?” His eyes searched mine.

Because I need your name, power, and wealth, I thought. But what I said calmly, “Because I never stopped loving you.”

He was confused. I feel his control slipping away. "Brittany, stop,” he said, walking away.

“I won't,” I whispered, moving closer. “Just let yourself.”

“No,” he said, though his voice shook.

I smiled. “Then let me remind you.”

I took him to his chair, crossed my legs, sat on his lap as my skirt opened revealing my smooth skin and a flash of my red underwear. His eyes followed my skin to my cunt. He looks like he was starved from sex.

“Brittany, don’t…”

“Don’t what?” I whispered. “Remind you of what you’ve missed?”

I sensed him giving in even though he wanted to resist me.

Then I got closer and kissed him. He didn't resist the urge that he wanted a woman.

For a second, he froze. He kissed me back, tilting my head for it to go deeper. I moaned in his mouth. Then pressed my body on his.

His hands held my waist. I thought he'd push me away.

I felt his hardness on me. His breath quickened. I didn't want this moment to end if I acted stupid. I moved front and back to massage his shaft in his pants.

“Stop,” he said softly.

“Make me.”

I kissed him again, harder. He responded. His body betrayed his words.

Then suddenly, he lifted me off him and set me on the desk. “Enough,” he said firmly as he stood up.

I sat on his desk watching him restless, then I smiled.

“Darcy Rodrigo,” I called him, “when was the last time you had sex?”

“Not your business.”

“You'll come around,” I said, “you're not over me yet. You still feel something for me Darcy.” I adjusted my clothes.

He said nothing. Shaken.

When I reached the door, I looked back and smiled sweetly. “See you at the gala, darling.”

Then I walked out, leaving him standing there. Confused, and tempted.

Mark glanced up from his desk as I passed. I gave him a satisfied smile.

In the elevator, I and Theo waited for the elevator to beep and open, then he asked, “Did you get what you wanted, ma’am?”

“Not yet,” I said. “But I will.”

Inside the car, my phone rang.

“It’s done,” a man’s voice from the other side of the phone said. “The photos are ready. Should we release them?”

I smiled, remembering the plan.

“No,not yet,” I said. “I'll inform you when to do so. We have to make sure no one can trace them back to me. Send it to me for now.”

“They’ll hit her phone within the hour.”

“Good.”

I ended the call, relaxing on my seat with a satisfied sigh. Tomorrow, I’d meet the nurse and learn Pink’s truth. But today, I’d reminded Darcy of what we’d shared and planted the seed of doubt about his precious nanny.

Soon, in a week time when the photos would explode. Darcy won't have any reason to dump me. And I'd eliminate Adrian.

And I’d be right there, calm, polished, waiting to take my place beside him.

Everything was falling into place.

Piece by piece. Move by move.

I told Darcy I wasn’t done with him.

And I meant it.

They always came back.

They always did.

Chapter 62Adrian’s POVThe charity gala date was tonight, and because of it, Pink came home early from school. At least to rest for a while, eat before we start preparing for the gala party. She was too excited to sit still during the ride with Leo.“Ms. Adrian, do you think Grandma and Grandpa will like my dress?” she asked for the tenth time.I smiled at her through the mirror. “They’ll love it, sweetheart. You’ll be the most beautiful girl there.”“Really?”“Really.”Exactly 4:30pm, in her room I helped wear the glittering pink dress she’d chosen herself. Every ruffle and button had to be perfect. The details of that dress was stunning.“There,” I said, stepping back. “You look like a princess.”She twirled, her skirt spinning. “I feel like one too!”I laughed and braided her hair, tucking in tiny white flowers. When I finished, she looked at herself and grinned.“Now you have to get ready,” she said. “We have to look pretty together.”“Alright, twenty minutes,” I promised. In my

I sat up and noticed I was completely naked under unfamiliar sheets.Panic hit first, then confusion.Where am I?The room was fancy — an upscale hotel I didn’t know. My clothes were scattered on the floor. I could only remember a little of last night. I remembered sitting at a bar, drinking martinis, talking with Vivienne about the gala. Then after she left, I kept drinking. Then I met a man.Oh no. The man.I had gone upstairs with someone. We kissed. Made love. The man fucked me like he missed me. Last night was magic. I admit.I held the sheet closer to my chest and I looked around the room. He had to be gone. Maybe I could get dressed and leave before anyone noticed.“Good morning, Brittany.” The voice came from the bathroom.A man walked in. He was perfectly dressed, calm, and he kne

Chapter 59Adrian’s POVWhen Leo drove us back after the shopping, I heard my phone ringing. I couldn't pick up in front of them, I wanted to take it in private. Then the call came in again when I was assisting Pink to hang her new dress in her closet. When I decided to check, the name on the screen made my stomach twist. It was one of the parole officers, Officer Chen."Miss Martinez," she said in her usual stern voice. "Adrian, your six-month review is coming up."I stepped into the hallway. “Yes, ma’am?”“You need to stay out of trouble. No incidents, no complaints. Understand?”“I understand, officer Chen .”“Good. Because if you lose your job — if Mr. Rodrigo fires you — you’ll be violating your parole. That means straight back to Rikers. No warnings, no appeals. Do you get that?”Her words hit me like ice water. “Yes. I’ll be careful.”“One mistake, and it’s over. Don’t waste your second chance.”“I won’t.”“Good. I’ll call you to schedule your review.”She hung up. Just like th

Chapter 58Brittany’s PovVivienne knew I hate waiting for someone that long. She knew and she'd kept me waiting for thirty minutes. Even though the bar was nice, the lights were not bright, just the way I liked it. It's quiet enough for private conversations, elegant enough, and it suits my standards. This is my first time here, I had picked it carefully. No one important ever came here, and that was exactly the point. I didn't want too many eyes since we had stormed other bars in town. I was finishing my second drink of martini when Vivienne walked in, glowing. I could tell she was happy.“You look like you just won the lottery, Vivienne ” I said as she sat next to me in the booth.“Better than the lottery, darling.” She grinned, signaling for champagne. “I have news. Good news.”I leaned forward. “Well, don’t leave me guessing. The gala’s in two days, Viv. Whatever it is, I need to hear it now.”Vivienne’s eyes sparkled. “I saw her. Adrian. Today.”My back stiffened. “Where exact

Darcy’s name showed up on the screen. My heart skipped.“Hello?” I said, trying to sound calm.“Adrian.” His voice was warm but tired. “I’ve got bad news. I can’t make it tonight for the shopping trip.”My stomach dropped. “Oh. Is everything okay?”“Just work problems. The Tokyo deal’s a mess, and I need to stay here to fix it. Leo will take you and Pink instead. I'll give you my black card, use it for whatever you need.”“Darcy, I can’t use your card. That’s…”“Yes, you can.” His tone softened but stayed firm. “Get something beautiful for the gala. Something that makes you feel confident. Don’t worry about the cost, the black card would serve its purpose.”His words made me feel happy. “Okay.”“How’s Pink? She was quiet this morning.”“She’s good. Excited to shop.
