No One’s P.O.V.

Lauren stepped into the room slowly with a faint smile, but her smile faltered when she noticed Vincent’s presence in the room.

Caellum was seated on the couch, posture composed, one arm resting on the armrest.

Vincent stood near the opposite side; his stance was relaxed, but she could see restlessness in his eyes.

Both of them looked at her at the same time.

She noticed the thick and suffocating tension in the room, but she didn’t point it out. Both Caellum and Vincent appeared

Vincent’s P.O.V.“Why did you call me here?” Joyce asked me while putting her handbag on the other chair, and taking the chair in front of me.“What would you like to eat?” I asked her calmly, moving the menu card towards her.She took the menu card with a polite smile and then took her time to order lunch for both herself and me.She had been with Lauren for almost all their lives.Of course, she knew what I liked or not, just like Lauren.“Now tell me.” She asked me calmly, crossing her hands on the edge of the table.“Lauren told you about our conversation in the hospital,” I remarked, and she nodded without any hesitation.Lauren and Joyce were like two peas in the same pot. They never had any secrets from each other.“She is avoiding me now,” I told her, and she, once again, nodded in response.“She has every reason to.” She remarked, and I furrowed my brow slightly.“We hid the truth from her because she wasn’t psychologically and physically strong at that time. You vanished fro

Lauren’s P.O.V. (Continued)He didn’t speak immediately, but I knew that he was now fuming in anger.Gabriel had always been short-tempered.In the past, I had tolerated his anger so many times, but I had no reason to do that now.“If you have to say something, say it now, Mr. Westfield. I am busy.” I asked him coldly when he didn’t speak for the next few seconds.“Busy with what?” he asked me angrily.“None of your business.” I rebuked immediately. He went silent once again, and I groaned angrily.“I am hanging up.” I spoke coldly and was about to cut off when Gabriel spoke again.“I need your help, Lauren. Please don’t say no. For…. For our old time sake, please help me with Celia’s treatment.” He pleaded desperately. For a few seconds, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.Gabriel?????Pleading?????For….. for Celia’s sake…. He is pleading????I clutched my chest when a sharp jolt of pain hit my chest.“I have been at her place before. So, I …. I know how helpless a person feels i

Lauren’s P.O.V. (Continued)“I know, but they are also very passionate about their fields, and if you lure them with some specific details about this experiment, they will definitely agree. Just tell them that Lauren Shaw is on this team.” I replied to her with a helpless smile on my lips.“Can’t you meet them directly?” Lillith pleaded while making a puppy face.“I can’t, love, because Mr. Gabriel Westfield has his eyes on him, and I don’t want to expose my identity at any cost,” I replied to her calmly, but felt bitter in my heart.I still remember my conversation with Caellum and Victor in the office. The reason why I decided to come to the lab today is that I don’t cross paths with any of them.Nor did I want to be in the same room with any of them.Their overprotectiveness and overbearing dominance got on my nerves that day.“You have a point. Both your identities as the Shaw heiress and the lead researcher can put your life at risk at any time. So, I agree with you that you shou

Lauren’s P.O.V.“You are still not recovered enough to be here, Lauren. You should listen to Chris and rest at home for a few more days.” Ryan scolded me worriedly when I took the chair in our small meeting room inside the institute.“I can’t stay in bed for even a minute, Ryan, and please don’t tell me to just sit on the chair. That is more awful than being in a coma state.” I replied to him annoyingly, raising my hand to stop him mid-sentence when I assumed that he was about to tell me the thing that I refused bluntly.“Don’t stress, Ryan. We know how stubborn she is.” Chris teased Ryan with a chuckle, and I glared at him.Lillian, Vera, and Cheryl giggled while looking at each other.“Very funny.” I rolled my eyes in annoyance, but it felt good.It had been more than three years since I was working with them through video conferencing. It really felt good to come back to the place where I actually belong.“But as your doctor, you need to listen to my instructions while working, Lau

  • Please Love Me, Again!   what I lost

Gabriel’s P.O.V.I stormed right towards the garage to get my car. I need to go away from here for a while if I don’t want to have a conflict with Celia.I had been doing everything in my strength, and I understood her emotional state, but it didn’t mean that she could accuse me at any time. Not when I hurt an innocent in the whole process.I slammed my hand hard on the wheel after I got into the driver’s seat.“F**k… f**k.” I cursed while hitting the wheel with every curse coming out of my mouth.I am not a patient person, nor can I control my temper.Yet, for Celia’s sake, I bent so many times already. What hadn’t I done to find anyone who could help her recover?I contacted everyone who came to check on me when Lauren decided to find a way to treat me.In a short span of fifteen days, I met with more than 10 people from different traditional medicine fields, had a video call with 7 different research institutes, and met 5 in person.Yet she said that I didn’t give my best. How coul

Gabriel’s P.O.V. (Continued)“You promised me that I would be back on my feet, Gabriel. You promised me.” She screamed at the top of her lungs, anger, hatred, and pain evident in her voice.“It has been a month since I returned, and yet I am still in this state.”I just listened to her outburst with a numbed mind.“I don’t want to stay in this wheelchair anymore. Make them treat me. Make them treat me.”She thrashed her palms against the armrest of her wheelchair like a madwoman while yelling at me.I sent an email to the Shaw Research Institute, requesting that they reconsider Celia's case, but the reply provided me with the real reason for their rejection that left me speechless.Celia’s psychological evaluation showed that she is convinced that she will be back on her feet in no time. She didn’t just have a hope, but she was convinced.Celia was in a state of psychological denial that she would be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, and it led to her application being rejecte
